Chapter 23: Puppy, Be Obedient

Li Ang quietly stepped into the room, doing his best not to make a sound.

But she would never steal the puppy’s bed, so she dragged another one next to his.

Li Ang quietly stepped inside and saw someone lying on his smaller bed.

His heart tightened immediately.

As he got closer, he could clearly hear the woman’s breathing.

Why was she hugging her pillow to sleep?

The thin silk nightgown she wore looked a little disheveled in that position.

It was indeed on her.

He swallowed hard and carefully reached out toward the string.

But just as his fingertips brushed it, Vesilia’s brows furrowed slightly and she raised her hand.

Li Ang’s eyelids twitched uncontrollably, but it was too late—his wrist was met with a soft, tender touch.

He’d been grabbed.

His heart suddenly pounded faster, his pupils constricting.

He instinctively took a step back, only to bump into something at his feet, accompanied by a dull thud.

He looked down and realized there were several bottles of red wine under the bed. He remembered these were Vesilia’s prized collections, yet now all of them were empty.

How much had she drunk?

No wonder she was sleeping so deeply.

Why did he have to be so unlucky tonight…

Taking a deep breath to calm his racing heart, Li Ang glanced at his wrist, still tightly held by the young lady, feeling conflicted.

He carefully removed the red string and then tried to free himself, but Vesilia’s strength was terrifyingly strong, clutching his wrist with no intention of letting go.

He feared that struggling too hard would wake her up.

Li Ang was at a loss.

“Don’t… don’t go…”

A soft murmur came from beside his ear.

Li Ang immediately tensed up but relaxed when he saw Vesilia’s eyes still closed.

Was she dreaming?

“Don’t go” wasn’t meant for him, right?

He tried once more to pull free from her grasp, but unexpectedly, she tightened her hold and gave a sudden tug.

Li Ang swayed, nearly falling onto her bed.

Seeing that he was about to fall onto Vesilia, he quickly summoned the wind element to steady himself and avoid contact.

Before he could react fully to this sudden change, a hand suddenly appeared on the back of his head, and then he was pulled completely into the young lady’s embrace.

“Puppy… naughty…”

The breath on his face was heavy with the scent of alcohol.

The pillow had been tossed aside, replaced by Li Ang’s own body.

Feeling the gentle hand stroking his head and the warm, soft chest pressing against his cheek, he carefully lifted his head and looked at Vesilia’s tightly closed eyes.

Despite the flush from the wine and her slightly disheveled hair, he had to admit that Vesilia was truly beautiful.

Sleepwalking? Or because she was drunk?

The faint fragrance from her body tickled his nose, stirring an odd restlessness.

Perhaps due to the alcohol, the young lady’s usually indifferent face softened.

“Miss Vesilia… you’ve got the wrong person. Could you please let go…”

Li Ang tentatively spoke in a low voice, trying to get her to release him willingly.

But it was all in vain.

The next second, her long legs wound around his waist.

“Puppy, be obedient. No running away.”

Her voice was firm and unmistakable, tinged with a hint of grievance.

Li Ang looked utterly hopeless and gave up struggling, quietly letting himself be held by Vesilia, feeling her somewhat hurried breathing and heartbeat.

But the young lady seemed to have opened up, leaning close to his ear and whispering softly, “Puppy, don’t run off again… understand?”

Li Ang dared not say a word.

The next moment, a warm, wet sensation brushed his ear.

His earlobe was bitten gently, followed by even wetter, more sensitive breaths—the woman’s urging: “Hmm?”

“Okay… I understand.”

Li Ang felt helpless.

Hearing his reply, Vesilia gradually loosened her grip on his wrist.

“Good puppy…”

A rare smile appeared on Vesilia’s delicate face, her eyes curving warmly as she pressed her cheek against Li Ang’s forehead, wrapping him tightly like an octopus and murmuring to herself.

“My puppy is the best. You’ll stay with me forever, right? I only have you…”

For some reason, Li Ang sensed a deep loneliness emanating from her.

Strange—she was the duke’s cherished daughter, always surrounded by admirers.

How could she feel lonely?

Soon, Vesilia’s breathing evened out again.

Li Ang tried to struggle once more, only to be held tighter.

No running away.

Li Ang resigned himself to the reality.

The only question was: when Vesilia woke up tomorrow and saw this, would she kill him?

He could only hope she wouldn’t always hold him so tightly.
