Elqi followed Rosily upstairs and arrived in front of her bedroom door.
With Aunt Enya no longer around, the tension in Elqi’s heart eased just a little.
She did not know why she felt so nervous; she was never like this when she was at home.
Elqi looked down at herself, feeling that her clothing was quite inappropriate.
“It must be this, right?”
She muttered softly, attributing the entire cause of her nervousness to her disheveled state.
Elqi looked up to see Rosily, who had already pushed the door open, her own clothing not looking much better; after all, they had both fallen from the sky together.
Thinking back to how Elqi had protected her during the fall, she smiled to herself, and this exact moment was caught by Rosily, who had turned back.
When their eyes met, a trace of shyness flashed across Elqi’s face, but she quickly calmed down, pretending nothing had happened.
Elqi even lifted her gaze to meet Rosily’s, and in a composed manner, she spoke to her best friend.
“What’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing… come on in, this is my room.”
Rosily smiled slightly; she had heard Elqi’s quiet murmur, but she did not intend to start a conversation about such an inexplicable remark while standing at the door.
She pulled on Elqi’s arm and brought her inside the room.
Elqi’s heart skipped a beat and she widened her eyes involuntarily, but what she saw upon entering was quite ordinary.
A sense of disappointment washed over her.
The decor was simple and elegant, and there was nothing strange about it; aside from the necessary furniture, there was nothing else.
This was just the room of an ordinary girl.
Elqi was stunned for a moment.
Rosily looked at Elqi’s wide eyes and curiously called her name.
“Elqi?”
“N-nothing, I just thought… this doesn’t seem to fit your persona. It feels like this room is missing…”
Elqi snapped out of her trance and shook her head at Rosily.
“How should I put it? It feels like it’s missing a little bit of fantasy color?”
“Fantasy color?”
Rosily blinked her eyes, then grinned, placing both hands on Elqi’s shoulders as she spoke.
“Elqi, look at me. I’m just an ordinary person, and as you have seen, my mother is also an ordinary person. How could the life of an ordinary person have so much fantasy color? It’s not like we are in a storybook.”
After she finished speaking, Rosily patted Elqi’s thin shoulders, then let go and walked to the side to find a chair for Elqi. Elqi took the chair and sat down, then watched as Rosily went to the wardrobe to rummage through it.
She pulled out two pieces of clothing, both conservative skirts, and walked over to Elqi with them in her palms.
Elqi looked up slightly at Rosily, who held one in each hand, a look of confusion on her face as she couldn’t help but think.
‘Is she asking me to choose?’
With that expectation in mind, Elqi began to choose seriously, but Rosily did not do as she expected.
Rosily held up the two skirts and waved them in front of Elqi.
“Elqi, you followed me home, will there be any trouble on your side?”
“……”
Elqi was stunned for a moment before she replied to Rosily that there would not be.
When she was taken away by Rosily, people had seen it, and the servants who came to pick her up would report it to her father.
Elqi’s father would not mind his daughter going home with a female classmate; if it had been a male classmate, he certainly would have already shown up at the door.
Therefore, Elqi told Rosily that there was no problem.
She did not explain why, and Rosily did not press the issue; the two tacitly skipped over this potentially dampening topic and turned back to the two skirts.
One was gray and one was white; they were of almost identical style.
Rosily looked left and right, finally shoving the gray one into Elqi’s hands and putting the other one back into the wardrobe.
“I’m going to take a shower first; you can sit in the room for a while.”
She said this to Elqi and then headed toward the door, but just as she was about to leave, she was called out.
“Rosily, wait a moment…”
“?”
Rosily stood at the doorway and looked back at Elqi, who had risen from the chair and appeared overly reserved. She said with a smile, “Remember to invite me to your house to play another day.”
“M? O-okay…”
Elqi was about to say what she had wanted to say, but was interrupted by Rosily. She had a look on her face as if she had been choked, but after a short while, she regained her composure, realizing that Rosily wanted her to relax and that she wasn’t herself today.
Taking a deep breath, Elqi looked at Rosily, her eyes gleaming with some kind of emotion as she parted her thin lips to say.
“I want to be with you and make our story have a sense of fantasy color; that was the requirement you agreed to after you lost last time.”
“Alright! How about we become adventurers together in the future? We can even do demon hunting work this winter.”
“Mm!”
“It’s a deal then.”
Rosily’s smile was bright; she looked like a small golden sun at that moment, surrounded by a warming atmosphere.
After leaving the room, Rosily was halfway down the stairs when she saw her mother walking into the living room from the backyard with Susia.
Her mother looked indifferent, but Susia’s eyes were slightly red and swollen.
Did she cry?
Rosily narrowed her eyes, staring at the woman with pink hair.
She walked quickly down the stairs and into the living room, finding Estelle and Lilith still sitting at the dining table.
Rosily took another look at them, especially the red-haired brat named Lilith, and her eyes narrowed even further.
Enya saw Rosily and, finding her still looking filthy, frowned slightly and said to her daughter.
“Still wearing those clothes? Don’t you know you need to wash up when you get home? Do I have to tell you to take a bath?”
“Oh~”
Hearing her mother’s order, Rosily ran nimbly to the bathroom.
Estelle looked at Susia; even she was curious about what Aunt Phil and Aunt Susia had talked about, and it looked like she had been crying. Could it be because of that person?
She did not yet know that the person inside “Phil” was Enya; in Estelle’s eyes, Ain was equal to Phil but not to Enya.
In Susia’s eyes, Phil was Enya.
Thus, Estelle’s understanding of the situation suffered from a dramatic misunderstanding.
Lilith, sitting next to Estelle, had her view blocked and had to bend down to peek at Enya.
Then Lilith saw Enya walking toward her, and she immediately sat up straight, playing the role of a good child.
Enya’s hand pressed gently on Estelle’s head.
After stroking her eldest daughter for a moment, she turned her gaze to Lilith, who was sitting primly.
“Lilith, it’s been a while~”
Enya held back her laughter, reached out to Lilith’s underarms, lifted her up, and held her in her arms.
Lilith was held with her back to Enya, like a cat—or rather, like a living doll being held.
“En…”
Susia walked over slowly, about to address Enya, but was intimidated by a glance from Enya and had to change her words.
“Sister Phil, are you and Lilith… very close?”
When she said this, there was an indescribable sourness in Susia, and even Lilith could feel that Susia was jealous of her.
But I didn’t do anything…
Wait, I seem to be being held by Phil, right?
Lilith turned her head to look at Enya, but since she was being held by her back, she couldn’t see her and could only look up.
Enya smiled at her slightly, then said to Susia and Lilith.
“Have dinner at my house tonight.”
“….”
“…..”
The two fell silent, their eyes meeting for a second before quickly looking away; both understood Enya’s meaning.
That was all for today.
