The club recruitment was still ongoing, and the group on the large center stage seemed to have changed again.
Watching the people on stage, they looked elegant as they walked back and forth twice, as if they were on a runway, before heading down.
“Hey, which club was that? How could they just leave without performing any talent? Is that fair to the audience?” Zhu Niao slapped the table, looking somewhat dissatisfied.
“Brother, don’t worry about the talent for a moment. My mom is about to break my legs. Don’t you plan on saving them?” Gou Yu grabbed Zhu Niao’s arm, looking at him with pleading eyes.
Zhu Niao sneered and acted as if he didn’t see him.
Who told this guy to be so reckless when he was crawling earlier?
“That’s the Hanfu Club,” Ye Qingchang said. “They just wear Hanfu. Expecting them to perform a show might be a bit much, don’t you think?”
“Then it feels like they shouldn’t have gone up at all.”
Ye Qingchang shook her head. “No, our Literature Club is the one that can’t even get on the stage.”
“Can’t you do a poetry recitation?” Zhu Niao tilted his head.
“That belongs to the Poetry Recitation Club.”
“You guys seem to divide things a bit too narrowly.”
Beside them, Gou Yu was still pleading bitterly. “Little Bird, look at me. Just one look. I don’t believe your eyes are completely empty.”
Unfortunately, Zhu Niao truly couldn’t be bothered to spare even a single glance.
Thinking of this, Ye Qingchang suddenly seemed to remember something and turned back to look at Xiao Yi’an.
Xiao Yi’an seemed to know what Ye Qingchang was thinking. “Yes, this morning, several people thought I was from the Hanfu Club.”
Before she could complain, Zhu Niao’s voice rang in her ear.
“Wait, look at that. What is that?”
Following the direction of Zhu Niao’s finger, Ye Qingchang looked toward the bottom of the stage. The person seemingly preparing to go on next was wearing a well-tailored suit.
“Isn’t that freaking Liu Anran?”
The two of them, faces full of shock, stood up and began searching the venue. Sure enough, they spotted a blonde figure staring intently at the stage.
They had likely ignored her at first because the girl was acting as a coser for the Anime Club’s recruitment nearby.
“What kind of nonsense are those two up to?”
“I don’t know, but it definitely won’t be anything good.” Ye Qingchang’s instinct told her that the stunts her god-tier roommates pulled were always massive.
As the Hanfu Club finished their performance and left, Liu Anran walked onto the stage.
“I think he might be giving a few words as an investor. I feel like this guy has invested quite a bit.” Ye Qingchang still held onto some hope that her roommate might act like a normal person.
“I wouldn’t be so sure.” Zhu Niao still had a certain level of trust in just how inhuman Liu Xie could be.
Liu Anran took the stage, holding a microphone.
He tapped the mic twice to test the volume, then took his phone out of his pocket.
Then, he spoke.
“Since my fiancée, Liu Xie, refuses to move back home with me, I have come to this stage to recite a passage according to her request…”
“The title is…” Liu Anran looked down, slightly substituting the name, “‘I Am Liu Xie’s Dog.'”
The entire audience erupted.
At that moment, a member of the Student Union’s order management team, wearing a work uniform and an ID badge, walked to the front of the stage directly in front of Liu Anran. He interrupted him, seemingly saying something.
“You’re saying private performances aren’t allowed here?” Liu Anran raised an eyebrow. “It’s fine, student. I’m an investor. I’ll talk to your president later.”
Then, Zhu Niao and the others watched as the guy walked away with a face as ashen as death.
Liu Anran cleared his throat, seemingly intending to continue his recitation.
“Are you seriously going to read that?”
Liu Xie, with her beautiful long blonde hair, climbed onto the stage at some unknown point. She walked over to Liu Anran’s side and, of course, snatched his phone away.
“Didn’t you say that if I recited this in public, you’d come home and live with me?” Liu Anran asked Liu Xie in return.
“This won’t do. You’re being too embarrassing.”
This might have been the best the school’s microphones had ever picked up sound; the conversation between the two was heard with crystal clarity.
“Then what will it take for you to come home with me?”
“I’m not going home with you. I have roommates who need my company, do you understand? Roommates! Do you get it?”
Below the stage, Zhu Niao and Ye Qingchang whistled, looking at the sky and then at the ground, terrified that someone would find out they were the roommates Liu Xie was talking about.
“Are they more important than me?”
“What the hell are you saying? Is that a line you should be saying?”
Liu Xie took a deep breath. “In short, don’t recite that thing here. It’s truly humiliating. Secondly, I won’t go home with you. I prefer sleeping alone.”
“But every time we sleep, aren’t you the one who proactively — “
Liu Xie lunged forward and covered Liu Anran’s mouth. It was only then that she noticed the corners of his mouth were curled into a constant smile.
It was like noticing you had stepped into a trap only while you were already falling.
“You’re coming down with me right now.” Liu Xie’s tone was as serious as she could make it, as if trying to reclaim her dignity as the older brother.
However, she noticed that the hand Liu Anran had used to hold his phone was now free since she had taken it.
Then, from behind her, he wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her into his embrace.
“If you give me a kiss right now, I’ll go down with you.”
The warm, moist breath, the close proximity, and the gaze of the entire crowd below the stage — any one of these things would have been enough to turn Liu Xie’s face beet red.
“You… what are you saying… “
“I said it very clearly. I just need you to kiss me once.” Liu Anran’s voice was practically pressed against Liu Xie’s ear.
Liu Xie desperately wanted to look at anyone else, but Liu Anran held her so close that she could only look at him.
‘A kiss on the cheek counts as a kiss, right?’
She only wanted to get off the stage as quickly as possible.
And so, she closed her eyes and slowly leaned her face in, meeting Liu Anran’s left cheek.
Liu Anran didn’t move; he only gave a soft chuckle.
Then, pressing against the back of Liu Xie’s head, he kissed her on the forehead.
He certainly knew what he wanted, but everything had to be taken one step at a time.
“A first kiss like this shouldn’t be initiated by a thin-skinned girl.” A smile hooked the corner of his mouth as he looked at Liu Xie, who felt like she had been played again.
He didn’t even give her a chance to react before he swept his princess up into his arms.
“As you wish, let’s go home.”
“Who wants to go home with you!”
The entire club recruitment scene seemed to fall silent for a moment, followed by a wave of nausea caused by the cloying scent of romance.
“I can’t take it. I’m leaving too. I can’t stay in this place for even another second.” Zhu Niao made a gagging sound and pulled the still-pleading Gou Yu away.
“I guess I’ll head out too.”
Ye Qingchang stood up.
After taking two steps, she turned sideways. “Do you still have that thing?”
“Hm? Yes.”
Xiao Yi’an reached his hand into the box and grabbed a white club application form.
His hand paused, and then he let go.
Then, he pulled out a final one-dollar discount coupon for Mixue Ice Cream & Tea from his pocket.
“Student Ye, here you go.”
