After Su Nian finished purchasing the Knight’s Armor, Little Violet, who had been quietly curled up in her arms, suddenly opened its bright, vertical pupils.
Through their mental communication, Little Violet already understood that the purpose of this trip was to fight the man beside her.
So, it transmitted a key message through their mental link.
“Master, we Void Contract Beasts, aside from joining battle directly, possess another special ability called ‘Spirit Attachment’.” Little Violet’s voice carried a steady sense of wisdom, a striking contrast to its current lazy kitten-like appearance.
“Spirit Attachment?” Su Nian’s heart skipped, and she immediately asked for more.
“Yes, Master. When we’re not fighting, we can attach a portion of our source power to you, granting you a specific ability boost.” Little Violet explained.
“For example, Big Mountain. When not in battle, it can grant you powerful earth element affinity and a portion of its ‘Absolute Defense’ trait, greatly increasing your physical and magical defense.”
Su Nian’s eyes lit up at once.
Big Mountain’s “Absolute Defense”!
Even if it was only a partial boost, it would still elevate her survivability to a whole new level.
“What about Little Green?” she asked eagerly.
“Little Green can grant you enhanced wind element control, and… give you the ability to fly without external aid.”
‘Flight!’ Su Nian’s heart thumped wildly, ‘Soaring freely across the skies, without relying on magic or a mount—what a powerful ability that was!’
Whether for pursuit, evasion, or seizing the high ground, it would bring immense tactical advantage.
Besides—
Flying solo would definitely feel… exhilarating!
She definitely had to try it later.
“What about you… Little Violet?” Su Nian asked nervously in her mind.
Although in terms of potential, the wind-element holy dragon Little Green was stronger as a dragon race but right now, Little Violet was actually the strongest.
“I can grant you enhanced Lightning Manipulation, and at the same time, give you preliminary Spatial Perception and Manipulation—like short-range Space Flicker.” Little Violet’s voice carried a barely noticeable trace of pride.
‘Space Flicker!’ Su Nian felt her breathing quicken.
This “Spirit Attachment” greatly increased her options in battle.
Unfortunately, there were also limits to Spirit Attachment.
To use it, the Contract Beast must not be actively engaged in battle.
They cannot fight and use Spirit Attachment at the same time.
Su Nian suppressed her surge of joy, carefully thinking over how to fight next.
Though attaching Little Green or Little Violet would grant her flight or flicker—both huge boosts—
But that also meant they couldn’t join the fight directly.
Especially Little Violet, whose Saint-level power in direct combat far outstripped the benefit of mere attachment.
As for Little Green’s flight, riding her into battle as a dragon knight would obviously make her even stronger.
But attaching Big Mountain was actually the best choice.
Big Mountain had powerful defenses, but its sheer size made it unsuitable for combat in many terrains.
It wasn’t very agile either, better at defense than chasing after the Horned Demon.
However, that didn’t mean Big Mountain’s saint-level strength was in name only.
Just its island-creating abilities would be enough to build a powerful force in the rear.
Imagine others having to build ships to trade across rough seas, but she could just command Big Mountain to carry an entire city across the ocean.
Although she didn’t have a penny to her name yet, but dreams were important!
Once she defeated that bastard Horned Demon, she’d build a Mobile City atop Big Mountain’s back and become famous across the world!
At a crucial moment, she could always cancel the attachment, summon Big Mountain, and catch her enemy off guard.
A body as massive as a city, like a falling meteor—if it came crashing down on her opponent… wouldn’t they end up black and blue?
No need to reveal all her cards at once.
Building a proper reserve team—now that was true “wisdom.”
‘Heh heh!’
As she thought, Su Nian sensed that bastard Horned Demon seemed to notice her brief mood swing; his scrutinizing gaze sharpened even more.
She quickly lowered her head, burying her face into Little Violet’s soft fur, using the motion to cover up her nearly uncontrollable excitement.
‘Humph, bastard Horned Demon, you’d never guess, would you? The “little slave girl” you think is fully tamed now has the power to completely crush you!’
Outside the carriage, Da Hei’s respectful voice called, “Master, we’ve arrived at Blackstone Gorge.”
Chu Tian withdrew his gaze and was the first to rise.
Su Nian, still holding Little Violet, straightened her clothes and followed him out of the carriage.
Outside the carriage.
Jagged, sinister black rocks stretched as far as the eye could see, like the fangs of some ancient beast, stabbing toward the sky.
At the gorge’s entrance, a thin Mist of Blackstone Gorge drifted, shrouding vision and adding an air of mystery and danger.
Su Nian glanced around, the corner of her lips curling in a cold arc.
“Let’s go.” Chu Tian said indifferently, striding into the depths of the gorge ahead.
He didn’t look back at Su Nian, but she could feel the Horned Demon’s mental energy spread like an invisible spider web, covering the area and keeping everything on guard.
Su Nian took a deep breath and followed.
The stage for their showdown was already set.
Now, all that remained was to pick the best place for the final “curtain call.”
Inside Blackstone Gorge, it was even gloomier and more treacherous than the entrance.
Steep cliff walls rose on either side, as if cleaved by a giant axe, jagged and oddly shaped.
The Mist of Blackstone Gorge hung thicker in the air, visibility extremely low.
Chaotic waves of magic power distorted perception, making it hard to judge the situation nearby.
“Master, the Magic Tutor said that ‘Youguang Orchid’… seems to grow in the dark, damp cracks of cliff walls.”
Su Nian took out a piece of parchment drawn with rare magic plants, pretending to study it carefully, her voice soft and uncertain.
She pointed to a spot under a nearby cliff, where there appeared to be deep cracks, and faint glimmers of light shone out.
“Shall we… check over there?”
Chu Tian glanced in the direction she pointed, said nothing more, and walked over.
Su Nian was secretly delighted, and immediately followed.
This was, of course, part of her plan.
Using the search for magical herbs as an excuse, she would gain time to pick a spot ideal for ambush.
She seemed to be carefully searching the crevices for “Youguang Orchid,” but was actually studying the surrounding terrain.
After a while of observation, she noticed that deeper within the gorge, past a narrow defile, there was a round clearing.
The space was wide and the sightlines were clear, with no cover to hide behind.
Towering cliffs rose all around.
Block the entrance, and it would be nearly impossible to escape.
Sure enough, it was the perfect place for murder and looting—a natural ambush and graveyard!
‘Perfect!’ Su Nian’s eyes sparkled.
This was the ideal place for the final battle!
Her mind was highly focused, thoughts racing as she plotted out every next move.
Through the mental link, she constantly transmitted her observations about the terrain to her three Contract Beasts.
“Little Green, there’s a relatively open plateau three hundred meters to the front-left—you can use it as a launching point for a dive attack.”
“Little Violet, seal the entrance with space magic to block the enemy’s escape.”
“Big Mountain… at the start of battle, attach first. If I have Little Violet summon you, crash down on the enemy right away!”
The time for Su Nian’s assault was almost at hand.
