“Mhm!”
Yun Ruoxi pointed toward her eyes. “My senses domain felt a vibration on those stone weapons similar to that of the tree god weapons. It’s highly likely they are a completely identical type of weapon, aside from their attribute.”
“Are you saying… stone god weapons?” Kaos asked, his mouth hanging open.
“They should be earth god weapons. I heard Guan Kelai mention that the Huang Elves worship the earth god,” Yun Che corrected.
“Who cares if it’s a stone god or an earth god!” Kaos said, his voice laced with excitement. “If what Xiao Xi says is true, doesn’t that mean there’s also a Pool of Grace in the Underground World?!”
“And if there’s a Pool of Grace, that means there’s also another…”
“Star core?!” everyone exclaimed in unison.
“Two star cores?! For real?!”
After listening to his roommate Mo Yuan’s analysis, Bai Lu snapped to his feet, his face full of astonishment as he shouted those words.
Naturally, the reactions of the others in the room were much the same. After all, the consensus had always been that there was only one star core, but now Mo Yuan was suggesting there might be two.
“I only said it’s a possibility; it’s not necessarily true yet,” Mo Yuan said, shaking his head as he looked at his teammates.
Many trainees believed that having more teammates was better for the final examination. However, Mo Yuan believed that since their goal was to seize the star core, their side’s strength was likely inferior to that of the planet’s natives.
Therefore, after landing, he had carefully selected these few from the group of Class 1 trainees who followed his lead.
He had ensured their strength while keeping the numbers as streamlined as possible.
“Furthermore, I’m actually more inclined to believe there is only one star core. Just like two sides of the same coin, perhaps it created both the surface and underground kingdoms using two opposing forces.”
“I see!” Bai Lu nodded in realization. “But regardless of whether there are two star cores, our goal remains the same—the Pool of Grace beneath the Traveling Palace!”
“Correct!” Mo Yuan agreed. “We must keep our attention entirely focused on the objective. I have already contacted an Aristocrat among the high-ranking green elves; he will assist us in entering the Traveling Palace.”
*Slap!*
He pressed a map onto the table. “This is the map I obtained from that Aristocrat. In three days, a shipment of supplies will be transported into the palace. That will be our best chance to sneak in.”
Relying on Yun Ruoxi’s telekinesis, the group of four landed steadily on the ground. They immediately used mimicry to disguise themselves as Huang Elves and slipped into the King City.
Although the name of this city, Earth God City, was very similar to Tree God City, there were distinct differences.
The most obvious point was the lack of the exotic plants found in Tree God City. As a result, it didn’t look nearly as luxurious or advanced.
It looked more like a city in decline.
They scouted the city for a while and soon discovered that the military camp was located in a forest of stone pillars to the west of the city.
Once they made their way there, Yun Ruoxi and the others widened their eyes at the sight of several earth dragons, thousands of meters long, coiled around the stone pillars.
So these were the earth dragons capable of rivaling tree god weapons?
They were certainly no ordinary creatures. With that size, a single swipe of their tails could likely wipe out a large number of Level 1 star energy users.
“Hiss… I’m actually starting to regret agreeing with your idea, Che!” Kaos sucked in a breath of cold air.
“If we sneak into the military headquarters and they fly into a rage, insisting on a real fight, we have no way to deal with these earth dragons.”
“I might be able to take down one!” Yun Ruoxi said.
“Then we should do our best to avoid a confrontation!” Zi Jiu scanned their surroundings and said seriously, “Remember, our goal this time is to demonstrate our strength and seek cooperation!”
“Mhm!” Everyone nodded and prepared to enter the camp.
Just then, a Huang Elf who looked incredibly familiar to them walked out of the camp and headed toward the city district. The group froze, immediately exchanging looks of utter disbelief.
“That Huang Elf just now looked so much like Brother Zhen!” Yun Ruoxi whispered. “And his scent was very similar too!”
“I thought so too!” Kaos nodded frantically.
Zi Jiu pursed her lips. “I remember that mimicry disguises us based on our original appearance. So, do you think there’s a possibility that it actually is A-Zhen?”
“The possibility is quite high. Look!”
Yun Che held out his right hand. On the map displayed on his watch, one green dot and four red dots were flashing.
One of the red dots was slowly drifting away from them, moving in the exact direction the Huang Elf who looked like Lin Zhen had gone.
“Back in the tunnel, I discovered that signals couldn’t transmit between the surface and the underground. Little Ai and the others disappeared from the map, but this red dot only appeared just now,” he added.
“So Brother Zhen has been missing for so long because he’s been hiding alone in the Underground World?” Yun Ruoxi’s eyes instantly turned red. Two tears splashed down as she sobbed, “I thought Brother Zhen had…”
Yun Ruoxi covered her mouth. Zi Jiu reached out to hug her, gently stroking her head without saying a word.
[That goblin is heinous for making Xiao Xi cry.]
[What kind of crying?]
[Crying because it was too hard?]
[The tire tracks are all over my face!]
Yun Ruoxi seemed to realize that now was not the time to vent her emotions. She quickly stopped her tears in Zi Jiu’s arms. Tugging at Zi Jiu’s sleeve, she said with a face full of determination, “Let’s go. Let’s go after Brother Zhen!”
“Mhm!” Zi Jiu nodded.
Yun Che added, “A-Zhen just came out of the military camp. Maybe he established a connection with the army here during his time underground!”
“Then it’s even more necessary for us to find him!” Kaos said, rubbing his hands together. “Besides, I really want to ask him why he kept hiding down here and didn’t show his face, even though he knew we were all looking for him!”
“Brother Zhen might have his own reasons!” Yun Ruoxi said with red eyes. “What if he was trapped underground and couldn’t get out?”
“Oh, Xiao Xi, you always take A-Zhen’s side!” Kaos shook his head speechlessly. “We were able to sneak down here, so however he got down, he definitely could have gone back up!”
“In any case, if he doesn’t give me a proper reason later, I’m definitely going to give him a beating. He scared me half to death!”
“Count me in!” Yun Che laughed.
“Let’s go!” Zi Jiu said.
The group followed the map, chasing after the red dot. They didn’t delay for long, and Lin Zhen hadn’t walked very far. By the time they caught sight of his figure, he hadn’t even covered 1,000 meters.
Yun Ruoxi used her telekinesis to shroud their bodies. They floated through the air, slowly approaching Lin Zhen’s back.
They intended to give him a little scare. This was a small punishment for Lin Zhen never contacting them.
