“Aie, A-Yuan, don’t walk so fast!”
“I was just joking…”
The girl’s voice kept calling from behind. Lin Xinyuan, caught in a mix of shame and anger, didn’t want to respond, but her soft heart eventually won out. She unconsciously slowed her pace, though she still refused to turn around.
Now, whenever she thought of Li Tang’s words, her entire body felt scorched and her mind grew dizzy. Her face had long since turned a deep crimson; fortunately, the mask hid her embarrassment.
Doing that kind of strange thing…
I definitely wouldn’t!
But… what if that guy wants to? Should I… should I agree?
Lin Xinyuan couldn’t help but think of their time together. Even though Qin Nanfeng had slept beside her and they had done many intimate things, he had always stopped at a certain point. He had never taken that final step…

The girl’s mind was overactive and overly sensitive, and she quickly spiraled into random worries. While she was lost in thought, Li Tang caught up to her.
“Hehe, I knew A-Yuan was the best~”
Li Tang leaned her head toward Lin Xinyuan’s shoulder, wanting to nuzzle against her face, but she immediately noticed the low mood the girl seemed to be in. Li Tang froze, thinking she had truly said something wrong. She asked anxiously, “A-Yuan?”
“Huh?”
Hearing the call, Lin Xinyuan snapped out of her daze and looked blankly at the girl beside her.
Seeing her like this, Li Tang felt even more guilty. “I’m sorry, A-Yuan. I won’t make those kinds of jokes with you ever again…”
“…………” Lin Xinyuan was stunned. She had no idea why Li Tang was suddenly apologizing so sincerely. Weren’t they just happily teasing each other a second ago? Why the sudden shift to gloom and doom?
Lin Xinyuan couldn’t quite figure it out, but she figured she should explain. “Uh… I’m not angry…”
“Eh? But the way you looked just now… weren’t you unhappy?”
At this, Lin Xinyuan finally understood. It turned out the girl had misunderstood her habit of walking with her head down when lost in thought. She didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. She felt a warm glow in her heart, but she decided to play along, letting out a “sad” whimper. “Yes, I’m unhappy, wu wu wu…”
The girl’s voice was naturally soft and sweet; her whimpers were even softer and incredibly cute. It almost felt like she was being intentionally “cutesy,” perhaps a bit affected…
But she only dared to act this way with Li Tang because there were no other people around. Normally, she only showed this side of herself online or when she was alone with people she knew very well.
Seeing this reaction, Li Tang finally relaxed. Looking at Lin Xinyuan’s shy, cute behavior, her eyes lit up. She rested her shopping bag on her suitcase and reached out a hand to rub that fluffy head. “There, there, comforting A-Yuan, hehe!”
“Hey… don’t touch my head!”
Only her elders were allowed to rub her head! Well… and that guy…
Thinking of him, Lin Xinyuan indignantly used her fair palm to lightly swat away the mischievous hand.
“No, I’m going to keep rubbing!”
“Then I’m going to rub yours back…”
“I won’t let you, haha!”
The two beautiful girls chased and played with each other, soon arriving at the door of Dorm 505.
Lin Xinyuan pulled out her key and opened the door, only to realize something was wrong. Weren’t they supposed to go to Li Tang’s dorm first? Why had she brought her here?
It’s all A-Tang’s fault! She made me forget!
Just as Lin Xinyuan was about to turn and glare at her friend, she saw Li Tang already pulling her suitcase and bags inside. She didn’t suspect anything, assuming Li Tang was just tired and wanted a place to rest.
“Wow! A four-person room! It’s so spacious!”
As soon as Li Tang entered, she took off her mask and started exclaiming. She put her things down and began looking around like a curious toddler, even running to the balcony to check out the bathroom.
“This bathroom is so clean! New dorms are the best!”
Li Tang kept marveling at everything. She walked back into the main room, standing next to Lin Xinyuan and nodding vigorously while looking at the clean ceiling.
Lin Xinyuan mumbled, “It’s just a slightly newer, ordinary dorm. Is it really that exaggerated…?”
Li Tang rolled her eyes and immediately countered. “A-Yuan, you’ve got it all wrong!” She looked at the girl with a mix of indignation and envy. “You have no idea how old my previous dorm building was.”
“Freshman year, being stuck with those ‘gold-digging’ girls was bad enough… but it was in the most ‘vintage’ dorm on campus! My luck was terrible… the walls were all yellowed…”
“Ugh… and the squat toilet was even worse. It was so yellow it was unbearable to look at, and no matter how much you scrubbed, it wouldn’t get clean. Honestly, I didn’t even have the courage to squat over it…”
Li Tang looked like she was suffering from lingering trauma. “God knows how I survived… One day, I actually felt like the toilet back in my village was cleaner than that one…”
“Ah, is that so?” Hearing her friend’s explanation, Lin Xinyuan realized that not all dorms at North Sky University were like her previous one. She couldn’t help but feel some sympathy for Li Tang.
Li Tang nodded with a hum. “Of course. A-Yuan, you really are living in an ivory tower! Otherwise, aside from those annoying roommates, why do you think I wanted to move out so badly?”
Cough… of course… part of it was because of Brother Yan… It’s so annoying that this whole pandemic mess ruined our plans!
Naturally, she didn’t say that out loud.
Before Lin Xinyuan could respond, Li Tang’s gaze drifted toward the empty beds. She noticed that the two beds near the corner were already made up with bedding. She tilted her chin. “Hey, by the way! A-Yuan, which bed are you in?”
Lin Xinyuan was confused as to why she was asking, but answered honestly, “The one against the right corner. Why?”
“Okay! From now on, I’m sleeping in the one right next to yours!” Li Tang said, walking toward her luggage to start unpacking.
“Huh? Aren’t you…” Lin Xinyuan was stunned for a moment before the realization hit her. “A-Tang, you’re living here? The school arranged this?”
“Yeah!” Li Tang responded while unpacking. “Haha, surprised? I was shocked too. What a coincidence that I’m in the same dorm as A-Yuan!”
The girl looked up, smiling happily. “Now we can take showers together!”
Lin Xinyuan had been happy about the surprise, but upon hearing that, she was so startled she scrambled back, hugging her arms protectively.
“Are you… kidding me!” Lin Xinyuan cried out bashfully, shaking her head repeatedly. “How can two people shower together! N-no!”
Lin Xinyuan was truly terrified. Setting aside the fact that as a Cantonese person, she had no habit of communal bathing, she had been a boy before! Even though she was now a complete girl, the only female body she had ever seen was her own…
The idea of seeing someone else’s was embarrassing enough, not to mention her “lack of ability” in that department…
“Eie… A-Yuan, you’re such a coward.” Seeing her terrified look, Li Tang rolled her eyes. “You forgot we’re from the same hometown? How could I really do that? I was joking, relax!”
“Phew…” Hearing the explanation, the girl finally calmed down. Her friend never played by the rules; she was genuinely afraid Li Tang was serious. Thank goodness it was a joke…
She definitely couldn’t do something like that.
After all… she belonged to Brother Feng.
