A 92% compatibility rate with the T-virus?
Could this be… his cheat ability?
Li Yiming raised an eyebrow.
As expected!
How could a transmigration not come with a system or cheat perk?!
His very own unique golden finger had finally awakened!
A gradually manic grin appeared on Li Yiming’s face!
But before he could finish his sinister smile—
Christine immediately poured a bucket of cold water over his head (figuratively).
“Don’t get ahead of yourself. This isn’t some kind of cheat.”
“You’re still not out of danger.”
Christine removed her gloves and looked at Li Yiming like he was an idiot.
She waved at him, signaling him to follow her.
The two walked out of the glass chamber.
Christine went to a corner of the lab and pulled out a mobile whiteboard from the bookshelf.
“I’ll try to explain this in a way you can understand,” she said as she picked up a black marker and started sketching and writing on the board.
“Your genetic compatibility with the T-virus being high only means one thing — you won’t immediately mutate into a monster.”
“You may not be turning into an unspeakable creature yet,”
“But you’re still not out of the woods.”
Christine drew a large balloon on the board with the marker.
“Let’s say your body is like a balloon,” she explained.
“And the T-virus is like a hairdryer blowing air into it — one that never stops and that nobody can turn off.”
“The better the material of the balloon, the longer it can withstand the air from the virus — and the more ‘air’ it can hold.”
“But the worse the balloon’s quality…”
“Boom!”
She made a bursting gesture, startling Li Yiming.
He instinctively touched his chest, feeling his rapidly beating heart, and shivered.
He understood what Christine was getting at now.
Right now, he hadn’t mutated yet.
But he could clearly feel the T-virus continuously “blowing air” into his body.
If it continued like this, eventually his body would—just like the balloon—explode!
“Then… doesn’t that mean I’m doomed?”
Li Yiming clutched his chest, speaking gloomily.
Christine, however, smiled at that moment.
“No, no, no.”
“You’re not on a one-way road to death.”
“Remember the balloon and hairdryer example I gave?”
“If the balloon doesn’t want to explode, it simply needs to become tougher, right?”
Li Yiming was stunned for a moment.
“You need to understand — my analogy is just that: an analogy.”
“The human body isn’t a lifeless object like a balloon. It can grow stronger.”
“All you have to do is refine and strengthen your body before it can no longer withstand the T-virus’s transformation!”
Christine’s words instantly lifted Li Yiming’s spirits.
Suddenly, a passage from a middle school textbook popped into his head…
“Racing Against the Sun.”
The main character’s situation in that story was strikingly similar to his own now.
Back then, the protagonist was racing against time.
And now, Li Yiming had to outrun the T-virus’s transformation—outrun death itself!
“Heh…”
Li Yiming suddenly let out a small smile.
Christine stared blankly at the smiling Li Yiming, slightly stunned.
This guy… really might be something else.
Most people, upon hearing that their life was hanging by a thread every passing second, would have mentally collapsed on the spot.
The T-virus enhancement was like a Damocles’ sword hanging over one’s head—
Run just a little too slow, and the sword would come crashing down.
Yet Li Yiming, facing such a situation where his very life was dangling by the waistband…
He smiled?
What a madman…Christine shook her head helplessly.
“What are you smiling at? You don’t really think you’ve got plenty of time, do you?”
“Even though we haven’t found any other test subjects with a genetic compatibility as high as yours,”
“We have run predictive simulations using mathematical models.”
“The human body, at its absolute limit, can only endure T-virus modification for four hours and twenty minutes.”
As she spoke, Christine patted the muscles on Li Yiming’s arm.
“Do you think your physique qualifies as the peak of human potential?”
Faced with Christine’s blunt reminder—
Li Yiming remained completely calm.
He casually reached into his pocket and pulled out a gray crystal.
With a firm squeeze, the crystal began to glow faintly.
A strange and indescribable energy began to flow from his palm and into his body!
The zombie crystal core’s effect was finally showing itself!
Wasn’t this thing supposed to enhance the body and strengthen special abilities?!
As he absorbed the crystal, Li Yiming spoke up calmly.
“If I can outrun the T-virus, doesn’t that mean the virus will keep reinforcing me without ever stopping?”
“Another man’s curse, my blessing.”
“In this apocalyptic world, isn’t everyone walking around with their head strapped to their belt?”
“If I want to become stronger, of course there’s a price to pay.”
“The only real trouble is not knowing when my body will reach its breaking point and… explode.”
Li Yiming spoke indifferently.
His tone was calm—without a trace of fear or despair!
His unexpectedly optimistic remarks once again made Christine look at him in a new light.
What was a doomsday sentence to anyone else—
He saw as an opportunity.
Perhaps there really wasn’t anything in this world that could break someone like him.
Christine let out a faint, bitter smile.
Thinking back to her own earlier despair in the lab…
Her opinion of Li Yiming rose another level.
“Another man’s curse, my blessing…”
She repeated the phrase softly.
“That mindset of yours… even as a researcher, I feel ashamed in comparison.”
“As for what you said earlier—about not knowing when your body will reach its limit,”
“I can actually help you build a monitor for that.”
Christine placed one hand on her hip, speaking confidently.
What she said next caught Li Yiming completely off guard.
“Also, I can make a drug that slows down the T-virus enhancement rate.”
Li Yiming’s eyes lit up instantly when he heard that.
“Really?!”
“Damn—are you Doraemon or something? How can you make everything?!”
At that, Christine’s face darkened immediately.
This guy… seriously needed his mouth smacked.
If she weren’t physically outmatched, she really would’ve kicked him on the spot!
Forcing herself to hold back the urge to curse him out on the spot,Christine rubbed her temples, her shoulders trembling slightly as she muttered:
“While I can make a suppressant that weakens the T-virus’s activity,my lab is currently missing one very important ingredient…”
“I need a vial of T-Antivirus Serum.”
