City H was in the depths of autumn.
The chilly evening breeze made pedestrians on the streets instinctively tighten their coats.
Occasionally, a few girls in short skirts could be seen lightly stomping their feet, their snow-white legs particularly striking against the cold wind.
Lin Mo stepped out of his dorm, heading to the supermarket to stock up on “supplies” for his all-nighter.
Entering the campus supermarket, Lin Mo walked straight to the instant noodles with practiced ease.
He picked up four cups of noodles, cradling them in his arms as he made his way to the checkout counter.
It was Friday, and as a college student with no classes the next day, this was the perfect night for an all-night gaming session.
His three dorm mates were probably already booting up their computers, waiting for Lin Mo to return so they could start their team match.
The supermarket was unusually crowded today, resulting in a long checkout line.
Lin Mo absentmindedly fiddled with his phone while waiting.
“Dammit, what’s going on? The internet’s so slow!”
Lin Mo frowned impatiently at the frozen loading bar on his phone screen.
No matter how many times he tried, his phone simply wouldn’t connect.
The 4G symbol at the top of his screen had disappeared.
Strangely enough, others around him were also starting to complain about network issues.
Just then, a commotion broke out in the supermarket.
A girl’s scream drew a crowd-doing what Chinese people love most, gathering to watch the spectacle.
Lin Mo was no exception. Abandoning his place in line, he followed the crowd toward the source of the noise.
The supermarket grew increasingly chaotic-girls screaming, guys murmuring.
When Lin Mo finally pushed his way to the front, he saw what had caused the uproar.
It was a rather pretty young woman, dressed in form-fitting casual wear that accentuated her curvaceous figure.
But the reason for such a disturbance wasn’t simply a beautiful girl. Lin Mo’s attention was quickly drawn to what was on her head.
It was an inverted triangle shape, pink with lace trim-strangely familiar.
“Isn’t that… underwear?”
It took Lin Mo a few seconds to recognize the object before exclaiming in shock.
Indeed, perched atop the young woman’s head was a pink pair of panties-with what appeared to be red stains on them…
“What a shame… such a pretty girl turns out to be a pervert…”
Lin Mo clicked his tongue and shook his head helplessly.
While he was baffled by why this girl would parade around a supermarket wearing panties on her head, it wasn’t really his concern.
His roommates were waiting for those instant noodles.
But things weren’t that simple. Just as Lin Mo turned to leave, another wave of gasps erupted behind him.
The girl’s behavior was odd. Despite being stared at and pointed at by the crowd, she showed no reaction, simply keeping her head down and pacing slowly.
“Su Xin, what’s wrong?” A handsome young man emerged from the crowd, quickly approaching the girl-apparently named Su Xin—with concern.
Judging from the crowd’s reaction, this good-looking guy seemed to be Su Xin’s boyfriend.
Su Xin remained with her head lowered, as if completely deaf to her boyfriend’s words.
“Su Xin…”
The boy seemed anxious, tugging gently at her sleeve.
The next moment, Su Xin finally moved-she abruptly embraced him, burying her face in his shoulder.
The intimate scene immediately drew teasing cheers from the onlookers.
However, the boy’s expression was far from normal…
Logically, he should have looked tender, perhaps a little embarrassed.
But instead, his eyes widened in shock, his entire body trembling violently like a sieve.
Lin Mo was puzzled—until the boy suddenly let out a blood-curdling scream.
“Ah—!”
He shoved Su Xin away, and everyone immediately saw that half his shoulder was drenched in blood, his clothes torn with a gaping hole.
“What the…”
Lin Mo stared in disbelief.
What did this guy do to piss off his girlfriend?
And damn, this girl was brutal-his shoulder looked nearly bitten through! Just looking at it made him wince…
As the crowd stood frozen in shock, the girl named Su Xin slowly raised her head and turned toward them.
“Ahhh !!!”
After a brief silence, a piercing scream erupted.
Beneath Su Xin’s disheveled hair was a ghastly, blood-smeared face-completely expressionless.
Her mouth hung open, revealing razor-sharp, beast-like teeth, and her crimson eyes stared coldly, devoid of any emotion.
“This… this is…”
Lin Mo was stunned.
That appearance… wasn’t it just like… a zombie?
But how could there be zombies?!
There was no time to think.
Su Xin lunged at the crowd with a guttural, rasping growl, her features twisting into something monstrous.
People screamed and scattered in panic.
Lin Mo fled with the stampeding crowd as the supermarket entrance became a chaotic sea of bodies.
Su Xin’s boyfriend, meanwhile, was completely dazed.
Clutching his bleeding shoulder, he didn’t even try to run—just stared blankly at the unfolding horror.
Gradually, his vision turned red-deep, blood-like red.
His mind went blank, his limbs growing colder, stiffer, harder to control.
“Rooooar-!”
Finally, with an inhuman howl, he stood up.
His eyes, now the same crimson as Su Xin’s, locked onto the fleeing crowd.
The supermarket was packed, and the exit was far too narrow for everyone to escape quickly.
Soon, the two zombies caught up to some, pouncing on them and tearing into their flesh with bloody ferocity.
Screams of agony echoed behind Lin Mo, but he didn’t dare look back.
He flung aside the instant noodles he’d been holding and sprinted toward the dormitory.
Before he could get far, another commotion erupted—this time from the cafeteria near the supermarket.
More screams, more terrified students stampeding out, their faces twisted in horror.
It wasn’t just one person who had turned into a zombie…
When Lin Mo finally arrived panting at the dormitory building, faint cries of “Help!” and “How is this possible?” could be heard from the direction of the teaching block-not to mention the intermittent screams that kept ringing out.
A shiver ran down his spine.
Not daring to dwell on it, Lin Mo sprinted straight for the dorm.
Fortunately, there didn’t seem to be any zombies inside—at least none in the hallway.
He made it all the way to the sixth floor without incident…
