‘It feels like rebelling against a stubborn elder,’ the Holy Sovereign, who possessed memories of living in the human world, couldn’t help but think.
She knew she was doing the right thing, but because the other party was technically her elder, opposing them caused her a great deal of distress. However, in the face of such a critical turning point, the Holy Sovereign quickly buried her guilt deep in her heart. She continued to pour her radiance onto the monsters, suppressing them firmly into their state of black qi.
The magic circles prepared by the magical girls were also operating at peak efficiency. They drew the black qi, which had been forced back to its original form, into the spatial channel. Driven by instinct, the qi surged toward the other end of the channel, only to be caught off guard by the magical power waiting for them on the other side.
News of the disturbance at the intersection of worlds had already reached the ears of the Magic Department, and everyone was on edge. The current plan could not afford even a single mistake. Everyone had to remain at their posts, unable to provide support to the front lines of the battlefield.
They could only pray in their hearts that White Night would defeat that monster. After all, she was the invincible White Night.
“The reaction was actually that fast… So they simply refuse to listen?” Luo Shuangyue also received news from the other side. Upon hearing it, she wasn’t particularly worried about her mom’s situation.
She knew her mom’s strength. Even if White Night couldn’t defeat the monster, she could certainly stall for enough time. As long as they lasted until the magical girls purified all the black qi on this side and cut off the Path Creature’s support, she and her dad would be free. Then, they could join her mom and besiege that Path Creature together.
Even if the monster descended into this world and successfully evolved into a complete Demon, what would it matter? It would be three against one. Wasn’t that a massive advantage?
What actually made her a little unhappy was the attitude of those two worlds. Their plan had only just begun, yet the worlds reacted immediately, causing the Path Creatures to riot. This proved that the battle between the worlds was not so intense that they couldn’t spare a glance elsewhere. If that was the case, why had the two worlds never responded despite the Holy Sovereign and White Night calling out to them so many times?
‘So they were intentionally playing deaf!’
At this thought, the dark ideas in Luo Shuangyue’s heart became increasingly difficult to control. These two entities that cared for nothing but themselves—she would definitely give them a piece of her mind!
The moment this thought surfaced, the evil intent buried deep in her heart suddenly surged with life. After playing dead and lying low for a long time, the darkness felt Luo Shuangyue’s hostility toward the other world. It immediately leaped out to announce that they were on the same page. ‘Should we join forces and kill that world?’
Luo Shuangyue promptly and forcefully suppressed them. But they were in no hurry. As long as Luo Shuangyue harbored hostility toward the other world, they could wait patiently.

Boom!
White and black light collided in mid-air. The impact of the collision directly shattered the fragile space fragment, and the black qi within that fragment was ground to dust by the chaotic spatial turbulence. This was the latest of countless space fragments destroyed since the battle began.
White Night let out a soft breath. At the front line where the powers of two worlds clashed, the laws of order were in chaos. She didn’t know how much time had passed, nor did she know how much longer she was from victory or defeat. She only knew she had to stand her ground and prevent this Path Creature from doing anything that could interfere with the plan.
But as time ticked by, White Night gradually felt her strength wavering. Her opponent possessed infinite regenerative abilities, while she lacked such a cheating skill. Every bit of her power she used was gone. Even though her recovery rate was high, it couldn’t keep up with the speed at which she consumed her energy. As her condition deteriorated, defeat seemed inevitable.
White Night was not someone who couldn’t accept failure. This time, she hadn’t expected to defeat the monster in a one-on-one fight from the start. Her goal was always to stall the Path Creature. She might lose the duel, but in the grand scheme of things, she was constantly moving toward success.
The Path Creature’s massive body trembled as countless limbs made of black mist reached out, attacking White Night simultaneously. White Night didn’t retreat an inch, swinging her blade to sever the incoming black claws one by one. The severed claws dissipated into black qi, which the Path Creature reabsorbed in the next moment to reform its body.
This tactic cost the creature nothing. It could easily use this method to drain White Night’s strength. Once her power dropped below a certain level, victory would belong to the monster. For a Path Creature with clouded consciousness, this should have been the optimal choice. After all, it had traded its brains for combat power; it could only think so far, and it couldn’t comprehend more complex tactics.
However, a clear voice within its chaotic thoughts kept reminding it that it could not be held back here. It had to descend into the other world as quickly as possible to bring about destruction.
The monster couldn’t think of sophisticated schemes like feinting. Since it couldn’t be delayed, it would use its greatest power to defeat the obstacle in its path as quickly as possible. Therefore, the monster abandoned the safe strategy of attrition and focused all its power on the offensive.
Its main body was left undefended. White Night’s attacks landed easily, leaving deep gashes that would take a significant amount of time to heal. But to the Path Creature, this didn’t matter at all. It wasn’t a living being in the conventional sense and had no vital points. Even if White Night smashed it back into its black qi form in an instant, it could reconstruct its body and return from hell in a very short time.
In this place, it was invincible.
This “all-offense, no-defense” fighting style left White Night helpless. Driven by instinct, the monster had chosen the combat method she found hardest to handle. The Path Creature’s health was infinite, so having no defense carried no real cost. Meanwhile, by focusing all its strength on attacking, it forced White Night to consume her power at an incredible rate.
Previously, White Night could still land a couple of sword strikes in the gaps between her defenses. Now, she had abandoned such meaningless efforts, pouring all her strength into dodging and defending. Even so, as time passed, White Night felt the battle becoming more and more difficult. The amount of time she could hold on was likely not very long.
Because of the distorted sense of time, she didn’t know how long she had delayed it or how the situation was on the other side. All she could do was fight with everything she had until everything was settled. Blades and darkness continued to clash. The battle raged on, but the white light was clearly showing signs of fatigue, its territory being slowly eroded by the darkness.
Once again, a giant fist collided with her blade. This time, White Night was forced to retreat several steps to bleed off the force. Her strength was now noticeably weaker than the monster’s.
“Whew…” The hand holding her sword was trembling slightly. White Night didn’t know how long she had been fighting this Path Creature; she only knew her limit was close.
In a battle of this level, if one side fell into an irreversible disadvantage, the outcome would be decided very quickly. Unfortunately, she was the one in that disadvantageous position.
The monster gave White Night no chance to catch her breath. After repelling her with a single blow, it launched a storm of attacks, pursuing her relentlessly. Their battlefield had completely moved away from the space fragments. Those fragile fragments couldn’t even withstand the aftershocks of their combat. Rather than bothering to find a space fragment that would be destroyed in a few hits, it was better to decide the outcome right here in the spatial turbulence.
This was a consensus shared by both White Night and the Path Creature.
‘Dammit, if I’m accidentally caught in the spatial turbulence…’ A faint sense of unease rose in White Night’s heart as she was suppressed by the monster, unable to strike back.
The spatial turbulence rampaging through this battlefield was no joke. If one was accidentally sucked in, there was no telling where they would end up the next moment. Originally, White Night could have used her powerful strength to disperse the turbulence around her, but now she had no energy left for such things. If she were hit by spatial turbulence now, the battle would end immediately in her defeat.
Sure enough, what she feared most happened.
A stream of spatial turbulence seemed as if it had been lightly nudged by a pair of invisible hands, surging directly toward White Night’s back. Was it a coincidence? Or was a giant hand truly manipulating the turbulence? The answer no longer mattered.
The result was right in front of her. No matter what she chose now, the situation would head in a direction she didn’t want to see. If she distracted herself to erase the spatial turbulence, her defense would develop a hole. The best possible outcome would be getting hit by the monster’s attack and losing a massive amount of magic power in an instant. If she didn’t erase the spatial turbulence, she would be swept away. Without her there to restrain it, the monster could do whatever it wanted.
Both choices led to the same end: the total failure of her stalling plan. However, with the former, she could stall for just a little while longer, whereas the latter meant immediate failure.
Her choice was clear. Her mission was to stall for time, so she would naturally stall for as long as possible. Erase the spatial turbulence and take the monster’s hit—that was the optimal solution now.
Without a moment’s hesitation, White Night diverted her power to erase the spatial turbulence flying toward her back. With her focus split, the pure white barrier that had barely been holding back the monster’s attacks was torn apart in an instant. The bladed limbs grew larger and larger in her vision.
Pure white petals flickered around White Night’s side—this was her protective magic power. But before the monster’s blades, these pure white petals were ruthlessly shredded. The time they bought was only enough for White Night to gather all her magic power in front of her to form a shield, though she didn’t know if it would even block anything.
*Boom!*
The Path Creature’s bladed limbs slammed into the barrier released by White Night, causing fine cracks to spiderweb across it. In the next second, the barrier shattered completely.
White Night’s body was sent flying backward at the same time.
The barrier had managed to block this one hit, but the monster wouldn’t stop at one. She had blocked this time, but what about the next several attacks? The magic power within her was recovering rapidly and would soon be enough to support her continued fighting. But “soon” was far too slow in this battle.
The Path Creature’s pursuit was already in front of her, but the only thing White Night could use to block this attack was the sword in her hand.
She couldn’t block it.
Holding her sword horizontally in front of her, White Night had no expectations for the outcome. She knew all too well that miracles wouldn’t happen; her strength was no longer sufficient to stop this attack. So, had she only managed to hold on for a tiny bit longer than if she had been swept away by the spatial turbulence?
Watching the pitch-black claws grow larger before her eyes, White Night felt her vision begin to blur. She thought she saw a flash of silver-white light ignite in front of her. She seemed to hear that person’s voice in her ear.
“Sometimes, you have to try to trust others.”
She felt herself fall into a soft embrace, and the attack that was already inches away was blocked by a pair of butterfly wings that had suddenly appeared.
“Why are you here?”
“The other side doesn’t need me anymore. You did well. Now, let’s deal with this guy together,” the Holy Sovereign said in a flat tone as she let go of White Night. “You held it back for a long time. You did a great job.”
“Of course. But I don’t have much power left. You’ll likely have to be the primary force in the upcoming fight.”
“Just trust me. While I’m not confident I can win, blocking it isn’t much of a problem.”
The Holy Sovereign’s body slowly blurred, and a giant silver-white butterfly flew out from her humanoid form. This was the form she only revealed when fighting with her full strength. Against a monster that gave her far more pressure than the previous collective of grudges, the Holy Sovereign activated her strongest state immediately.
Perhaps this was the saying “it’s better to divert than to block.” White Night had blocked these monsters to prevent them from descending to the human world, eventually resulting in such a terrifying monster. The Holy Sovereign’s choice had been the opposite, and the monster created as a result had not been as frightening.
However, there was no real comparison. The conditions and cultures of the two worlds were completely different. The Holy Sovereign’s choice wouldn’t have worked on the human side.
The Path Creature showed no emotional fluctuations at the arrival of a new enemy. To it, one enemy or two made no difference; it would eventually win the battle. Its body, composed of black qi, possessed endless possibilities. From knowing only one way to attack at the beginning to now being able to use various transformations, the monster’s strength was constantly improving during this battle.
Being stalled here was not a bad thing for the Path Creature. It was gradually becoming familiar with its own power. Once it fully mastered its strength, it would be far stronger than its current self!
