As a hero group, the Sigma Series heroes didn’t need to sing, dance, or rap like idols. All they had to do was showcase the cutting-edge gear beneath their exoskeleton armor as the host introduced them with enthusiasm.
So, this fan meeting was really more like a weapons expo.
As the captain, Red Star General launched a string of micro-missiles from the backpack on his back. The missiles traced slow arcs through the air, then exploded into a dazzling display of multicolored fireworks above the crowd when he swept them with a fiery red laser shot from his chest.
Verdant Echo used digital clones to create countless images of himself. While his true self stood on stage maintaining a hand seal, his clones dashed into the crowd, showering petals and teasing the female fans below with flirtatious poses, stirring up waves of screams.
Azure Cavalier’s performance was crisp and sharp—an electromagnetic pulse fired from his arm precisely destroyed the robot targets suspended above the square, then he drew a plasma cutter and spun it in his hand, radiating a ghostly blue glow.
The Sigma Series had always been famous for their high firepower, but of course, no live ammunition was used at the fan meeting. Even the energy weapons were set to low output, or else they’d end up destroying Monument Square.
Still, that was more than enough for the Sigma Heroes to put on a show.
However, not everyone was drawn in by such flashy performances. At least, Squire didn’t find any of it interesting. In her eyes, it was all just the power of the exoskeleton armor. It had nothing to do with the hero themselves—anyone with decent physical fitness could become a hero just by putting on that suit… She even thought she could do it herself.
What was the point of being a hero relying on external tools instead of one’s own strength? If heroes could be mass-produced by money alone, could they still be called heroes? They were just money-making machines built by capital!
If you looked at it that way, the Nyx Driver was no different.
She had no interest in these Commercial Heroes built by marketing, and as a Lower-class Monster, she had no reason to cheer for them. Seeing the equipment they showed off, she could only imagine what would happen if she got hit by those weapons…
The answer was obvious—she probably wouldn’t even have time to fight back before being killed instantly.
Even those display fireworks would hurt if they hit someone!
After all, she was just a Lower-class Monster.
Getting killed by a hero’s stray attack wouldn’t be surprising, and no one would even remember a Lower-class Monster.
She always complained about hating them, but in the end, here she was, suffering through this event just to get a Commercial Hero’s autograph to sell for cash. What did that make her?
Without the Nyx Driver, she wouldn’t even qualify to stand here…
The fans behind her started screaming and cheering again. Squire instinctively looked up, only to catch a glimpse of that nimble white silhouette.
It was Pure White Storm’s aerobatic display.
“…That kid’s got some real skills.”
In the end, the thing that captivated her the most was this pure performance. That light, graceful figure flipping, spinning, diving, and soaring through the air… It was just like a ballet dancer in the sky. That kind of technique wasn’t something you could master just by putting on armor.
The slim, lightweight armor highlighted those long, slender legs, drawing all eyes. Even from an aesthetic perspective, Squire thought it would make great material for a comic…
“Wait a sec!”
Squire suddenly realized what she was thinking and shook her head.
“Tch, why would I be interested in a hero?”
After all the heroes had finished their equipment showcases, they retreated to the back of the stage together…
The main event was about to begin.
“All right, all you beautiful, lovely, and passionate ladies! Please don’t get too excited! Because up next is the final, most anticipated part of today’s fan meeting—getting up close and personal with the heroes!!” the host announced.
The autograph and handshake session had finally arrived!
When the Sigma Heroes returned, they had all taken off their exoskeleton armor and appeared as their true selves—red, green, blue, and white. As expected, they were all young, handsome, and each had their own unique charm. Every move they made drew the eyes of the fans below, triggering wave after wave of cheers and screams…
Was the Sigma Hero Company a host club or something?
Squire grumbled in her heart, while looking toward Pure White Storm.
“So it really is that guy, huh?”
Pure White Storm was the same white-haired youth she had met earlier in Charmwood, with a cold, mysterious aura. His slim build was completely different from the three seniors beside him.
But Squire wasn’t surprised—she’d already expected this.
In the end, the Sigma Hero Company launched a new hero to expand their fanbase. There would always be women who preferred slender, boyish types. Pure White Storm was created just to attract those fans.
“Now, please line up in front of your favorite hero! And remember, keep things orderly in front of the heroes!”
Keep things orderly.
But the host’s reminder was useless. The fans below surged forward like a dam bursting, a tidal wave of people crashing toward the row of seated heroes on stage.
Squire’s goal had been clear from the start—she wanted Pure White Storm’s autograph.
According to what Lucy said before, since Pure White Storm was a new hero, his autograph wasn’t circulating yet. Combined with his skyrocketing popularity, his autograph had huge potential to go up in value.
Most importantly…
Maybe she could use her connection from Charmwood to get a couple extra autographs?
But things didn’t go smoothly for Squire.
She had been right in front, but the women behind her were nearly crazy. She felt like a beach ball swept away by the waves. After barely managing to steady herself, she realized she was now somewhere in the middle of the line.
She’d probably have to wait half an hour.
“Whew, women really are scary when they’re crazy…”
But the woman standing in front of her caught her attention.
She had long, dark blue hair and wore glasses. The thick lenses gleamed coldly, and from the side, Squire could see the strange smirk on her lips and the unnaturally flushed cheeks.
“Heh heh, Pure White Storm, I’m taking you home with me, heh heh, heh heh…”
Her muttering was disturbing, and her heavy breathing made her excitement obvious. Squire didn’t really get the mindset of rabid fans, but this woman was clearly not normal.
Squire pulled out her phone and started typing a message.
[Nyx, what’s up with this woman?]
It wasn’t convenient to speak out loud, so she used this method to communicate with Nyx.
[She looks like an obsessed fan. She might do something irrational. I suggest you keep your distance.]
That was useless advice—there wasn’t even space to keep her distance.
Besides…
“Heh heh… As long as I succeed… heh heh… he’ll be mine.”
This glasses-wearing woman was definitely not normal.
But Squire soon stopped paying attention to her.
For a different reason…
She suddenly needed to pee.
