Her head felt swollen and aching, so Lu Weizhu closed her eyes for a moment.
Outside the window, the rain was still falling, and the room was a bit dim.
Lu Weiyu was still sound asleep.
At some point, she had turned over, her brows slightly furrowed.
“I’m sorry.”
Whispering an apology for her lie, Lu Weizhu gently smoothed out the creases on the girl’s forehead.
Grabbing her Old Phone, Lu Weizhu held her forehead and sat up.
She pulled her Umbrella out from under the bed.
“Rainy Day, it’s even more troublesome…Sigh…I’ll check out the furniture store this afternoon and have them deliver everything directly.”
She let out a sigh.
Compared to shopping online, buying things in physical stores was much more expensive.
Holding her Umbrella, Lu Weizhu slowly left the Hospital room.
The Hospital was as chilly as ever in the morning, but the sound of rain made it feel even more gloomy.
Lu Weizhu didn’t like the Hospital.
The heavy smell of disinfectant filled her nose, and she rubbed the tip of her nose.
“Achoo!”
She sneezed, and goosebumps rose on her arms.
“Did I catch a cold?”
Maybe it was just too stuffy—
Lu Weizhu had caught a cold.
She paused for a second, but quickly got moving again.
“It’s just a minor illness.”
With her head lowered, she wasn’t sure if she was being dedicated or just too embarrassed to face Lu Weiyu.
Either way, she planned to keep going to work.
She left the Hospital, opened her Umbrella at the entrance, and looked up.
The clouds were thick and dark, making it impossible to tell how long this Rainy Day would last.
Water pooled on the streets, and every so often a car would drive by, splashing water everywhere.
Lu Weizhu crossed the street and pushed open the door to the Café.
“Yun-jie, I’m here.”
She greeted Bai Yun as she put away her Umbrella.
Her headache was getting worse and the rain had soaked her pants, the water seeping into her cloth shoes, making her feel cold.
“Bojo…”
Lu Weizhu sneezed again.
“Here so early today?”
Bai Yun came out, still wearing her Apron, busy preparing pastries for later.
“Hehe, I didn’t have anything else to do anyway, so I just came over.”
Lu Weizhu smiled, put her Umbrella away, and hung it on the glass door handle.
“Don’t you need to be with your sister?”
“She’s still sleeping…Ah, achoo!”
Lu Weizhu rubbed her nose.
She looked a little embarrassed, and Bai Yun frowned.
“Um, Yun-jie, I think I caught a cold. I might need to wear a Mask while working.”
Lu Weizhu scratched her head awkwardly.
Her hair wasn’t soaked, but it was still a little damp.
The air on Rainy Days was so humid that it made people feel sticky all over.
“Don’t you need to take a day off?”
Bai Yun untied her Apron, fiddling with something behind the counter.
“No need, Yun-jie. It’s just a small issue.”
Lu Weizhu smiled.
The girl’s smile was genuine and infectious.
“…”
Bai Yun shook her head.
She didn’t say anything else.
After all, she hadn’t known this employee for long.
Besides, she could guess why Lu Weizhu was unwilling to take a day off.
Her family was struggling, and taking a day off meant less pay.
For the girl in front of her, money must be very important.
Bai Yun suddenly remembered how yesterday Lu Weizhu had tried to give her the tip a customer had left.
Awkwardly adorable.
“Here, have something hot to warm up. We don’t have any cold medicine in the shop.”
Bai Yun handed Lu Weizhu a cup of Hot Coffee.
“Thank you.”
Lu Weizhu expressed her thanks.
She drank the Coffee in one gulp, then went to the back to change clothes and get ready for the day.
She was still the enthusiastic Maid Café cat-eared maid, but today she wore a Mask, hiding most of her beauty.
Maybe because of the Rainy Day, there were barely any customers today.
“Da……”
Sitting in a corner of the Café, Lu Weizhu’s headache grew worse, and her mind was getting foggy.
Since there were so few people, she barely had to walk around.
She shouldn’t have felt tired, but her limbs felt weak and limp.
Her mind was a little hazy.
“Um, there aren’t many customers today. Is it my fault?”
She instinctively blamed herself for everything, tugging at her Mask.
Wearing a Mask made her chest feel stuffy.
“Well, it’s because it’s a Rainy Day. Nobody wants to go out.”
Bai Yun shrugged.
She noticed that Lu Weizhu’s cheeks were flushed.
“Are you alright? Do you need to see a doctor?”
“I’m fine, Yun-jie.”
Lu Weizhu shook her head.
Bai Yun wanted to say more, but in the end, she didn’t.
Lu Weizhu took out her Mobile Phone.
Unknowingly, it was already noon.
Lu Weiyu’s smiling face floated up in her mind.
Leaving without saying goodbye that morning, she was starting to regret it now.
Did Weiyu eat properly?
Did she take her medicine?
Was she hungry?
With her cold, Lu Weizhu was even more emotional than usual.
She dialed the number.
After a while, the call was connected.
“Weiyu…”
She called out weakly.
“I’m here, sis. What’s wrong?”
“Remember to eat.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Lu Weizhu hung up.
Immediately, she regretted it again.
Should she have chatted with Weiyu a bit longer?
With the cold muddling her mind, she was completely out of it.
She muddled through her work.
There were barely any customers in the morning, and by afternoon, there was no one at all.
Calling it work, most of the time Lu Weizhu was just sitting in a daze.
“So hot.”
She touched her face, and her fingertips felt burning hot.
While Lu Weizhu was still lost in thought, the Café door was pushed open.
High heels clicked crisply against the tiles.
Lu Weizhu stood up.
“Welcome, dear customer.”
She bowed.
Her voice was a bit hoarse, and with the Mask on, it sounded muffled and strange.
“…”
Ning Wan looked Lu Weizhu up and down, frowning.
“About yesterday, thank you. If it weren’t for you, I would’ve ended up soaked outside.”
Ning Wan awkwardly expressed her thanks.
A favor was a favor, a grudge was a grudge—
Ning Wan kept these things clear.
“Uh…Huh? Ah, customer, what would you like to drink?”
Maybe her Fever had scrambled her brain, but Lu Weizhu didn’t really understand what the person in front of her was saying.
She tilted her head, blue eyes full of confusion, dazed and blank.
Ning Wan’s frown deepened.
She instinctively thought the girl was just pretending to be silly—until she noticed the flush on Lu Weizhu’s cheeks.
“What’s wrong with her?”
Ning Wan looked at Bai Yun.
“She probably has a Fever.”
Bai Yun didn’t quite understand what Ning Wan had said when she came in, but she still honestly told her about Lu Weizhu’s condition.
“Fever?”
“Yeah. I remember you—you came with someone else last time. She seemed to know you two. You must be friends, right? Could you take Xiao Weizhu home?”
Bai Yun couldn’t let Lu Weizhu keep working.
Ning Wan had thanked Lu Weizhu when she came in, so their relationship probably wasn’t bad?
Thinking back to what Lu Weizhu had said before, maybe they were frenemies.
Take her home.
“Huh?”
Ning Wan almost had a question mark pop up over her head.
Friends?
What a joke.
And now she had to take this girl home?
How was she supposed to know where this girl lived?
She was about to lose her temper, but seeing the dazed look in the girl’s eyes, and remembering the favor she owed from yesterday, Ning Wan forced herself to swallow her irritation.
“Fine!”
She agreed through gritted teeth to Bai Yun’s request.
In her mind, she planned to take Lu Weizhu back to her own villa to rest for the night.
Once her cold was better the next day, she’d kick her out, and that would settle the debt.
Ning Wan grabbed Lu Weizhu by the wrist and led the nearly unsteady girl out of the Café.
