“Wa…a jar?!”
Keti turned her head with a confused expression, finally spotting the matte glass jar placed on the nightstand. Guided by her arch-rival, she realized the sound was actually coming from there.
Uh…
No, no, what is this? When did such a thing appear on her nightstand? The light was so dim that she hadn’t noticed it at all until now.
The silver-haired beauty helplessly pulled at the corner of her mouth. She didn’t even need to think—it must have been left by that annoying guy again.
No, really… When did he start coming in and out of her room whenever he wanted? He acts like this place is his own!
Although, tonight there really isn’t anyone else around, ugh… But, he didn’t even bother to ask her. She never agreed to let him in, and yet he just barged in!
It was just too much.
Actually, Keti wasn’t worried that her arch-rival would steal anything from her. After all, there was nothing here worth stealing anyway.
Come to think of it, every time her arch-rival came, he rarely took anything—he’d leave something behind instead. Like this jar.
What on earth is this thing?
Was his voice coming from inside here?
The silver-haired beauty blinked curiously, bewildered by the situation she’d never seen before. Unexpectedly, she also felt a little embarrassed. Ahem…
After all, just now, she seemed to have made some rather questionable noises… and that guy probably heard it.
Ugh—
Thinking about it made Keti instantly die of embarrassment, but after realizing the truth, she felt slightly relieved.
At least she could comfort herself with one thing: her arch-rival definitely wasn’t an invisible secret agent.
She didn’t have to worry about being forced into any strange positions out of nowhere.
“Hey, are you really in this jar? Did you… get stuck in there and can’t get out?”
Keti slowly leaned closer, quietly picking up her pillow while keeping a sharp eye on the jar. Ahem.
Of course, it wasn’t like she was planning to immediately seal up the jar and lock him inside for revenge the moment he admitted he was in there. Absolutely not, she’s not that vengeful!
She just… felt a bit nervous that this guy might suddenly pop out of the jar. She needed something to defend herself, that’s all. Yeah.
“Kitty… what’s going on in that brain of yours? You think I could fit inside such a tiny jar, and even hide in there?!”
“Guh… That’s not for sure! What if you can shrink? You were invisible just now, weren’t you? Hey, hey, are you trying to trick me now? Don’t tell me you really can turn invisible! Just now… it really felt like… someone was pressing against me…”
“Pfft, kitty’s got such pent-up desires she’s starting to hallucinate~ But too bad, I can’t shrink—only grow bigger! Ahem… Come on, I said I’d stop teasing you, how are you still so clueless, kitty?”
Lynn chuckled softly, finally deciding to get serious. He sat at the table and spoke into the jar on the other side:
“I’m not even at the academy. I’m at home right now~ That villa whose address you refused to listen to, no matter what I said~”
“Eh? Then, how can I hear your voice from this jar?”
The silver-haired beauty blinked blankly, then picked up the jar and peered inside, inspecting it carefully. The rustling sounds made Lynn smile in spite of himself.
“Because this is a magic jar. I have one here too! The sound travels through the jar’s mouth, then magic transmits it to the other jar and plays it out. In other words… the two jars let us have a long-distance conversation! This is a rare magical item, kitty—consider it a gift, are you happy?”
“Uh…”
Is there really such a magical thing?
The silver-haired beauty tilted her head. Truthfully, her first reaction was to feel quite happy. This thing was pretty novel to her, but…
“Tsk, if you were going to give me a gift, why not just give me both jars? Now there’s one in your house and one in my dorm. Isn’t that just eavesdropping? Pervert!”
Keti pouted and turned her head away. That arch-rival… Seriously, he’s getting more and more outrageous!
Did he really think she didn’t know what he was after? That guy clearly wanted to, um…
Spy on her when she was doing chantless water magic!
Ugh, what was she supposed to do about that?
It’s not like Keti practiced that kind of thing every day, but… just knowing that her arch-rival could be listening in at any time made her feel she’d never dare make a sound in her own room again!
“Relax, relax. Didn’t I tell you myself? Since I told you, you can’t call it eavesdropping anymore. And don’t worry—the jar won’t transmit any sound as long as you block its mouth with something.”
“R-really? Whew… Fine, good night!”
“Mm-hmm~ Hey, hey, hey, wait a second! Why do I hear you rummaging for something? Don’t be in such a hurry—it’s so late already. Don’t you want to chat a little more?”
On the other side, Lynn coughed helplessly. In return, the unseen silver-haired beauty rolled her eyes. Keti, holding her pillow, pouted and muttered under her breath:
“Idiot, do you know what time it is? Don’t you ever sleep…”
“Sigh, I can’t help it. Such a big bed, but no girl to share it with—it just feels a bit empty. Plus, since I finally got my hands on a magic jar, I have to try it out! If I miss you, I can talk to you anytime~”
“Tch, as if I’d believe that!”
Keti snorted and grumbled quietly, “Such a big bed, such a big villa… You can’t tell me there aren’t plenty of maids around! If you’re that lonely, just get a maid to sleep with you—why bother chatting with me from afar?”
“That’s true. Haa, talking to you through a jar—can’t see you or touch you—there’s really not much thrill. I should just go pester kitty in her dorm every day instead… Or maybe bring kitty to my place to be my bedwarmer maid~ But what can I do? I didn’t find you anywhere tonight.”
“What the—! Uh… y-you were looking for me all night?”
Keti had been about to thoroughly roast her arch-rival, but hearing that last part, her resolve faltered a little. Whew… That guy—hadn’t she said she was going to train? Such a dummy…
“What did you need me for? I… I was taking my students for training, whew… Just thinking about training ticks me off. That Richard, and that Ebert—they nearly drove me crazy.”
As Keti spoke, she angrily pounded her pillow, while on the other end, Lynn frowned at the tone in her voice, then gently asked:
“Hmm? What’s wrong? Did kitty run into trouble again? Need my help~?”
