“Hmph—”
Lu Qiancha pursed her small mouth in dissatisfaction. She didn’t say anything else, but she huffed as she took small, angry steps toward the bathroom in the side chamber.
Behind her, Ling Wanbai remained as silent as a shadow, following her footsteps and stepping into the mist-covered bathroom as well.
A moment later, the sound of splashing water rang out.
Just as Lu Qiancha unfastened her clothes, she turned around and realized Ling Wanbai had followed her in. She immediately put her hands on her hips, her cheeks puffing out like little buns.
“Hey, you trash fish priestess. Can’t you wait until I’m finished bathing before you come in? Don’t you understand the concept of first come, first served?”
“This saves time,” Ling Wanbai said. Her eyelids didn’t even twitch, and her voice was flat and emotionless.
After speaking, her expressionless gray eyes remained fixed on Lu Qiancha without blinking.
“Hmph…” Being locked in that calm gaze, Lu Qiancha instantly felt an invisible pressure. Her briefly bolstered momentum deflated like a punctured balloon.
She could only let out a resentful huff as a final show of stubbornness.
The wolf cub nimbly stripped off her clothes and stood under the showerhead, rinsing her body in an extremely careless manner, sending water splashing everywhere.
Then, she couldn’t wait any longer and slid into the warm, comfortable bath with a loud *splash*.
As if trying to shut out the annoying priestess outside, she even plunged her small head underwater, burying herself completely.
Only a string of bubbles, carrying a thick sense of resentment, rose to the surface and popped one after another.
Ling Wanbai watched the entire process in silence, not saying a word.
Once Lu Qiancha was submerged, she slowly began her own washing—likewise rinsing her body under the stream of water in a very brief manner.
Afterward, she also stepped elegantly into the bath as the warm waves wrapped around her.
Ling Wanbai naturally found a spot right next to the blue fur furball that was still blowing bubbles and sat down with a composed posture.
One gray and one blue, two soaking wet furballs sat side by side in the middle of the dense mist. The scene held a strange hint of harmony.
Lu Qiancha’s little mouth turned down. She angrily wiggled her bottom in the warm water, trying to put some distance between herself and the gray furball next to her.
However, the result was predictable.
She had just shifted one foot away.
*Splash.*
Ling Wanbai immediately moved her body and accurately pressed up against her, their arms tightly pressed together once again.
Lu Qiancha refused to give up and moved half a meter in the same direction.
*Splash.*
Ling Wanbai followed her like a shadow, sitting down right next to her without leaving a single gap. The warm water rippled gently from her movements.
This repeated like a silent, stubborn game of chase. When Lu Qiancha moved forward, Ling Wanbai pressed forward; when Lu Qiancha moved to the right, Ling Wanbai leaned to the right. After four or five times, the surface of the water was splashing loudly.
“Hey—!”
Cornered, Lu Qiancha finally lost her patience. She suddenly poked her wet little head out of the water, droplets dripping from the tips of her hair.
Her small face was red with anger as she protested to the nearby Ling Wanbai, “Why are you crowding me? This bath is so big! There are so many empty spots. Do you absolutely have to, have to sit right next to me?”
She extended her small paws, gesturing angrily at the spacious bath.
Ling Wanbai’s calm gray eyes quietly watched her as she bristled, a few strands of wet hair sticking to her fair cheeks.
Without even waiting for the protest to fully end, she blinked naturally and said clearly in her cool, calm voice, “Because I like my sister, so I want to be closer.”
“Who, who is your sister!”
Lu Qiancha instantly reacted like a cat that had its tail stepped on. She waved her wet little fists, slapping the surface of the water with loud splashes.
Her voice rose several octaves as she shouted in a mix of shame and annoyance, “You presumptuous trash fish priestess, don’t just decide on your own to act like an older sister!”
Ling Wanbai blinked her calm gray eyes. She didn’t argue but silently lifted her wet, fluffy, grayish-white big tail from the water and slowly offered it to the angry wolf cub. “Sister, don’t be mad. I’ll let you touch my tail…”
However—
*Splash.*
The moment that heavy big tail completely left the water, it brought with it a series of crystal-clear water droplets. Like a miniature waterfall, they splashed right over the head of the defenseless Lu Qiancha.
“Uwah—!”
A sudden, strange sensation of being pelted hit her. Lu Qiancha was caught off guard by the sudden attack and froze in place.
Her small face was covered in water droplets, and her long eyelashes were clumped together from the moisture, making her look both pathetic and adorable.
“Pfft—”
Looking at the drenched and stunned Lu Qiancha, a very faint but genuine smile actually blossomed on Ling Wanbai’s usually expressionless face.
“You, you, you—!” That light laugh was like lighting a powder keg, and Lu Qiancha completely lost it.
She spun around, leaving Ling Wanbai with only the back of a blue head that was shaking with rage and a tail tip that was flicking wildly in protest.
Her voice carried a hint of a sob as she accused, “Baddie, baddie, baddie priestess! We’re through! Starting now, I—I’m never talking to you again!”
‘It seems I played too much and made Xiao Qiancha cry.’
The smile on Ling Wanbai’s face vanished as quickly as a receding tide, returning to her usual lack of emotion.
She silently took a clean, soft towel from the edge of the bath and moved behind the sulking blue furball, gently beginning to wipe her soaked hair and cheeks.
“Dry yourself… Don’t be mad…” Her voice was still flat, but it carried a hint of comfort. “It was sister’s fault.”
Lu Qiancha’s small shoulders shrugged as she let out a huff. She stubbornly refused to turn around, but her body relaxed just a little bit due to the gentle wiping of the towel.
Ling Wanbai looked at the still-tense little back. Her gray eyes shifted, and she decisively brought out her ultimate Magical Artifact. “I’ll make you something delicious tonight.”
“Mmu…?” Those few simple words were like invisible fingers accurately plucking the heartstrings of a certain little glutton. Lu Qiancha’s small ears twitched quickly.
Capturing this subtle signal, Ling Wanbai immediately dropped her finishing move. “I’ll make Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs for you to eat.”
*Boom.*
The words exploded in Lu Qiancha’s mind like a clap of thunder.
“It’s a deal!”
The wolf cub spun around, her deep blue eyes sparkling. There wasn’t a trace of anger left on her face. Her tail wagged excitedly, creating ripples in the water.
Her voice was fast and urgent, as if she were terrified the other person would go back on their word the next second. “You have to keep your word! No cheating!”
Ever since becoming part of the Wolf Tribe, her craving for meat had been engraved into her bones. And sweet things were her absolute favorite.
Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs—this ultimate delicacy that perfectly combined sweetness and meat—was the supreme existence of “the best of both worlds” in her heart.
