“I can’t come find you?”
Via looked at the short but extremely arrogant Sashaya standing before her, pondering how best to deal with this Abyssal Demoness.
In terms of raw power, the other party was Legendary-tier—one of the pinnacle existences on the Theia Continent.
Even with the Demon King Armament activated, Via could only reach the Transcendent tier at best.
However, Transcendent against Legendary offered almost no chance of victory. Under the current circumstances, she absolutely could not reveal her true strength.
“I’m very busy. I have all kinds of research to conduct and have never liked receiving outsiders. I’m sure I told you this before.”
Sashaya stared at Via. “You also promised me that after leaving the Thousand Sea Abyss, you would, in your capacity as the Demon King, strictly forbid anyone from the outside world from approaching. Yet it hasn’t even been that many years, and you dare break the promise you made back then?”
“Mmmph! Mmmph mmmph!!”
Desolate Fire tried desperately to speak, but with her mouth sealed, she could only flail her arms about wildly.
“The outside world has undergone earth-shattering changes. A new Demon King is about to appear, and he… might break the promise I once made to you.”
Via chose what she hoped was a relatively natural-sounding reason.
“So in other words, a new challenger has shown up and you don’t think you can handle it?” Sashaya raised an eyebrow.
“Yes. I need some help from you.” Via nodded.
Sashaya fell silent, seemingly deep in thought.
“Sashaya, if you’re willing to help me, I can offer substantial compensation and provide support for your research—”
“Heh.”
Sashaya suddenly let out a cold laugh, cutting Via off.
“You’re lying.”
“What?”
“You are not Ville. If it were that brat, he would never lower his head and come begging me for help.”
“Lady Sashaya, if I weren’t Ville, then why would Desolate Fire willingly follow me?”
Via reminded her pointedly.
This was her greatest source of confidence. The Abyssal Demoness could never fail to recognize Desolate Fire.
“This joke meant to lighten the mood isn’t funny at all.”
“Desolate Fire is lying to me too. You two are in it together.” Sashaya turned and shot Desolate Fire a glance.
Desolate Fire clearly felt guilty and avoided meeting her eyes.
“The casual magic I used earlier—you couldn’t even block it. You’re ridiculously weak. Is this really a Transcendent-tier Demon King?”
Sashaya raised the staff in her hand and lightly tapped the ground. A magic array appeared instantly, enveloping her petite figure.
The next moment, her body vanished from Via’s sight.
Spatial fluctuations rippled through the air.
It was magic.
By the time Via realized what was happening, it was already too late. From the corner of her eye, she saw the powerful Abyssal Demoness use ultra-short-range spatial teleportation to appear directly behind her.
The staff in the opponent’s hand struck the Demon King Armament.
“Mana Sealing.”
Following the Abyssal Demoness’s disdainful voice, Via felt the other party’s magic power invade the Demon King Armament, relentlessly severing the connection between the armament system and herself.
Due to the overwhelming difference in magic power quality, she couldn’t suppress it at all.
In the end, the Demon King Armament stopped responding to her commands and was forcibly deactivated.
A pink-haired girl now stood before the Abyssal Demoness.
Sashaya’s eyes widened. She thought she must be seeing things.
“How… it’s actually a human girl?”
“Her strength is pathetically weak—like a complete weakling!”
“How did such a weakling manage to control the Demon King Armament?”
We’re done for.
Via covered her face with her hand.
“Demon King!”
Kurei and Melu rushed over immediately. They raised their weapons together, shielding Via behind them.
This scene left Sashaya even more bewildered.
Even with all her vast knowledge, she couldn’t make sense of the situation.
“Wait, what did you just call her? Demon King? Isn’t this just a weak human?”
“You’re not allowed to insult the Demon King!” Kurei shouted. “Even if she really is a weakling right now, she’s still our Demon King!!”
“Kurei, could you stop attacking me…”
Via felt a little hurt.
“Demon King? A human?”
Sashaya grew more and more confused.
She waved her hand, unsealing Desolate Fire’s mouth.
“Wahh, I was suffocating!! Lady Sashaya, how could you be so cruel! Not letting me speak—isn’t this straight-up weapon abuse?!” Desolate Fire protested loudly.
“Enough with the nonsense. You two demonkin maids, tell me what’s going on here,” Sashaya demanded. “Why are you calling her the Demon King? And how did this weak human manage to use the Demon King Armament and even gain your approval?”
“Lady Sashaya, so even you encounter situations in this world that you can’t understand? Heehee, it looks like you’re not all-knowing after all~”
“Desolate Fire, my patience has limits!”
Veins bulged on Sashaya’s forehead. One of the biggest reasons she had allowed Ville to take Desolate Fire away back then was precisely because this legendary weapon was far too annoying.
“Lady Sashaya, the answer is right in front of your eyes. As you can see, this adorable little weakling is currently the Demon King you know.”
Desolate Fire walked over to Via’s side and, as if showing her off, playfully pinched Via’s soft, round cheek.
“Cute, isn’t she?”
“Huh?”
Sashaya’s cheek twitched.
“You’re saying she is Demon King Ville?”
“Yes. You’ve been staying isolated in the Thousand Sea Abyss for so long that you wouldn’t know. The Demon King fought the Silver Sword Princess to mutual destruction. After dying in battle, he reincarnated into the human world. Only recently did he regain his memories and return to the Desolate Fallen Continent.”
Desolate Fire explained the entire situation in the simplest terms possible.
“Just as Desolate Fire said, Lady Sashaya, I… am Demon King Ville.” Via admitted. “In this life, the Demon King’s name is Via! Doesn’t it have a nice ring to it?” Desolate Fire added cheerfully. “Lady Sashaya, don’t you think it’s interesting? When I first learned about it, I couldn’t stop laughing, hahaha!”
“So that’s how it is.”
Sashaya roughly understood the circumstances now.
She showed an expression of complete disinterest, not a trace of a smile on her face. She coldly raised her staff, and the red light hovering high above lit up once again.
Terrifying fluctuations reemerged, locking onto the outsiders below.
“Since you’ve become a useless weakling, you no longer even have the right to speak with me. My time is very precious. You can die now, Via.”
