After that, the two of them exchanged a few more words.
Xu Yinsheng, holding the mini Xu Li, stood a little distance away and couldn’t hear clearly.
It seemed they had reached some sort of cooperation.
Zhao Yicheng, accompanied by his bodyguards and working with the police, began searching the underground parking lot.
Not long after, they discovered a huge cache of smuggled medicine—boxes and boxes of it.
The estimated value was over a billion, though the cost price was anybody’s guess.
Everyone present, as witnesses, was taken to the Police Station to make statements, including the two people lying on the ground.
A side note here—Xu Yinsheng finally realized that the two on the ground weren’t actually dead at all.
Chen Kedi had aimed for their thighs, not their chests.
Other than excessive blood loss and fainting, they weren’t in any real danger.
By the time they finished giving their statements, it was already ten at night.
The bright moonlight shone on the Police Station, making the ground look as though it was sprinkled with salt.
Xu Yinsheng and mini Xu sat side by side on the police station’s long bench, each with a cup of instant noodles.
As they ate, they saw Zhao Yicheng finishing his statement and coming out of the room as well.
“Slurp… slurp… slurp, are you hiding something from me? Slurp slurp slurp.”
Xu Yinsheng asked, eating her braised beef noodles and looking up at Zhao Yicheng.
Zhao Yicheng held a cup of instant noodles and sat between Xu Yinsheng and mini Xu.
He tore open the seasoning packet, poured it into his cup, and lowered his voice slightly.
“I am, but this isn’t the place to talk.”
“I’ll explain everything once we’re home.”
“Okay.”
Xu Yinsheng continued to slurp her noodles.
Remembering the female police officer who had been close to Zhao Yicheng, her curiosity got the better of her and she asked,
“That lady cop—what’s your relationship with her?”
“She’s my aunt.”
“Slurp slurp~ Aunt?!”
Xu Yinsheng and mini Xu cried out in surprise, both lifting their heads, eyes filled with astonishment.
Mini Xu even had half a noodle hanging from the corner of her mouth.
Zhao Yicheng wiped her mouth clean with a tissue, gently patting her on the head, “What? Surprised?”
“A little.”
Xu Yinsheng nodded, still eating her noodles.
Mini Xu, however, shook her head and swatted his hand away, giving him a fierce glare.
“I always thought you were like me, without any relatives.”
“The Zhao Family is a family business—of course there are plenty of relatives.”
Zhao Yicheng said flatly, “My father doesn’t only have one illegitimate child out there.”
At this moment, the statement room door opened.
The female officer from before—Zhao Yicheng’s aunt, Meng Zijiao—walked up and gave him a big hug.
“Acheng, you really are my lucky star!”
“We’ve just cracked a huge smuggling case! Before long, your aunt will definitely get promoted and a raise!”
She laughed cheerfully, her cheeks flushed with happiness.
Zhao Yicheng smiled in return, taking the initiative to introduce the two beside him.
Pointing to the noodle-slurping Xu Yinsheng, he said, “This is Xu Yinsheng, my current girlfriend.”
Then he pointed to mini Xu: “Xiao Yin, my little sister, she lives with us now.”
In response, mini Xu didn’t hesitate to roll her eyes.
Meng Zijiao glanced at Xu Yinsheng, thinking to herself: So the wild boar from my sister’s house has finally found its cabbage.
After so many years without a peep, I thought maybe something was wrong with his orientation.
She looks a little young, but, well, it’s fine.
“A Tu Ma.”
Xu Yinsheng saw Meng Zijiao lean down and softly say something in her ear.
Her tone was completely natural.
Though she didn’t understand, Xu Yinsheng smiled politely and shook hands with her.
After letting go, Meng Zijiao noticed the instant noodles in everyone’s hands and smiled, “You haven’t had dinner yet, have you? Thanks to you all tonight—come on! My treat!”
“Let me go change first.”
With that, Meng Zijiao dashed into the changing room like a whirlwind.
Zhao Yicheng handed money to the bodyguards, telling them to take a cab home, and reassured Jin Xinnuo that things would return to normal work tomorrow.
Xu Yinsheng and mini Xu, seizing the moment, each took a bite of Zhao Yicheng’s blood to recharge their energy.
Once Meng Zijiao had changed, the group went to a hotpot place called “Old Soldier Hotpot” for dinner.
Xu Yinsheng noticed Meng Zijiao had a special fondness for ox tripe and was extremely enthusiastic.
“How long have you two known each other?”
“Which grade is Xiao Mei in now?”
“How does Acheng treat you?”
“When are you planning to get married?”—and so on…
As expected, no one can escape an elder’s questioning about marriage.
After several rounds of drinks and dishes, Xu Yinsheng felt a little tipsy.
She might be a magitek doll, but she was also a high-fidelity human-type model.
Setting aside her nanomechanical body, she was no different from a real person—she got hungry, she felt pain, and she could get drunk.
Drowsy, Xu Yinsheng dozed off in the car, hugging mini Xu.
But before falling asleep, she took Zhao Yicheng’s phone and searched for a term.
A Tu Ma, in Mongolian, means: beautiful and pretty woman.
So that’s what it meant…
Who would’ve thought this lunatic Zhao Yicheng actually had such a normal aunt?
How odd…
With that in mind, Xu Yinsheng hugged mini Xu and drifted peacefully to sleep.
***
When she woke again, it was already the next day.
The morning sunlight streamed through the glass window, shining into Xu Yinsheng’s eyes.
She couldn’t help but frown, slowly opening her eyes to find herself in a familiar yet unfamiliar environment.
Hugging mini Xu, she sat up.
The harsh sunlight made her squint instinctively.
Once her eyes adjusted to the indoor light, Xu Yinsheng finally looked up.
Zhao Yicheng sat imposingly in a leather chair, the sunlight behind him stretching his shadow long and wide, almost enough to envelop, drown, and swallow Xu Yinsheng.
Xu Yinsheng’s heart gave a “thud.”
She swallowed nervously, knowing it was time to settle the real accounts.
The office desk, usually piled high with all sorts of documents, now held a large suitcase.
The lid was slightly open, and inside she could see gleaming red ropes, chains, and a restraint collar.
In the man’s hand was a sealed document folder.
Seeing her awake on the bed, he paused, then spoke in a low voice, “You’re awake.”
“Now, let’s talk about serious business.”
With a flick of his wrist, a brown afterimage streaked through the air.
The proposal, worth billions, landed casually in front of Xu Yinsheng.
“You went out behind my back just to look for this?”
“What were you planning?”
“Um…”
Xu Yinsheng’s eyes darted around, still trying to wriggle out of it.
But Zhao Yicheng’s calm voice rang out again, “I only want the truth.”
“If you get even one word wrong, or leave anything out—you know the consequences.”
Facing his threat, Xu Yinsheng didn’t dare lie.
She could only obediently confess her little schemes, then quietly wait for the “death sentence.”
After she finished, Zhao Yicheng said nothing.
He just stared at Xu Yinsheng in silence, lost in thought.
Under Zhao Yicheng’s indescribable gaze, Xu Yinsheng’s heart was in her throat.
She watched him nervously, terrified he’d lose it and do something to her.
She might be a magitek doll now and technically immortal, but who knew what crazy things Zhao Yicheng might do.
Even magitek dolls could feel pain in bed—and could even be made to cry from it.
