“What is this?”
Su Aoxue, who had been closing her eyes to regulate her breathing, stared at the potion that suddenly appeared before her chest, her expression blank with surprise.
“A Potent Recovery Potion.”
Hearing the familiar voice in her ear, Su Aoxue froze once again.
‘Shen Yan?’
‘Why is he giving me a recovery potion?’
‘Is it because he hasn’t seen me use any recovery items?’
‘This thing seems quite expensive. Is Shen Yan really willing to give it to a stranger like me?’
Su Aoxue looked at the Potent Recovery Potion before her, feeling immensely confused.
Although she did not know why, since Shen Yan had offered it, she would not stand on ceremony.
Besides, she happened to be lacking exactly this!
The Emergency Medical Kit Zhao Jun had given her only contained medicine for injuries; there were no potions like this at all.
After all, items that could quickly restore mana were extremely expensive.
“Thank you.”
Her voice cold, Su Aoxue reached out and took the potion Shen Yan was holding out.
To prevent Shen Yan from noticing anything unusual and doubting her identity, Su Aoxue did not give him any chance to see her face.
Her tone carried a sense of detachment, as her current appearance still bore some resemblance to her true self.
Seeing Su Aoxue accept it, Shen Yan breathed a sigh of relief. Much of the discomfort he felt dissipated, and he immediately left the area.
Standing before this enemy from his past life, Shen Yan felt incredibly awkward.
After seeing Su Aoxue take the potion, the idea he had originally had to strike up a conversation and earn some goodwill vanished.
Forgive him, but he still could not bring himself to farm affection points with his enemy!
‘He’s leaving right after giving it to me?’
Su Aoxue tilted her head slightly, watching Shen Yan’s retreating back, her confusion deepening.
She had thought Shen Yan was trying to suck up to her, considering her strength.
However, after delivering the potion, he had run back to continue fighting the Grey Fog Creatures without saying another word.
Calling his actions swift and decisive would be an understatement.
“Fine, I underestimated Shen Yan.”
“He’s got backbone!”
Su Aoxue whispered. She then unscrewed the cap of the potion and downed it in one go.
An instant later, a warm current began to flow through her entire body.
She narrowed her eyes slightly, immediately feeling her strength returning rapidly.
“That feels quite nice…”
……
Five minutes after Su Aoxue took the Potent Recovery Potion, she suddenly snapped her eyes open. Her azure eyes glowed faintly.
Before her, the defensive line was continuously shrinking.
Although several Grey Fog Creatures had been slain, they still had not gained the upper hand against the sheer numbers of this Gray Mist Tide.
To end this battle, they would likely have to endure for another few hours.
But this was normal. The defensive power of Grey Fog Creatures was exceptional.
Combined with the fact that they were outnumbered, it was already a stroke of luck that the defensive line had not collapsed.
A second later, a bone-chilling aura swept across the field. The Grey Fog Creatures that were still moving froze in place instantly.
Right after Su Aoxue finished this, she began to pant heavily again.
The Ice Scars on her body became even more pronounced, some even appearing where her veins were.
The frost effect of the Pseudo-Polar Domain she had formed began to rapidly disintegrate.
The snowflakes that had already thinned out in the sky disappeared completely.
Everyone present was stunned for a moment upon seeing the frozen Grey Fog Creatures, but their shock quickly turned to wild joy as they began the decapitations.
At the same time, excited voices rang out: “Damn, brothers! Is this freezing ability always this incredible?”
“No idea!”
“Maybe we should ask the boss to recruit some Ice System ability users next time?”
“Forget it. She’s only this strong because she’s an A-rank Warrior. Have you ever seen an A-rank Warrior join someone else’s Hunting Team? They all form their own…”
“Dammit, why do you have to be such a buzzkill!”
“Stop the bullshit! Finish them off quickly before these Mist Wraiths break free from the ice!”
Qin Wei also opened his eyes at this moment, looking toward Su Aoxue with a complex expression.
“This woman is seriously strong. She might even be stronger than the Base City’s Association President, right? Why haven’t I seen her before?”
“Is she from another Base City?”
Relations between Base Cities were not always friendly or harmonious; they were mostly supported by mutual interests.
Some Base Cities even dared to break away from the jurisdiction of the core cities and establish themselves independently.
This could not help but make Qin Wei wary. ‘I wonder if the higher-ups know there is someone like this in the Base City right now.’
Qin Wei muttered to himself, not daring to look at Su Aoxue for fear of making her suspicious.
A few more minutes passed. There were no longer any active Grey Fog Creatures on the field; all had been completely killed.
“Damn, finally finished. I’ve been doing peripheral hunting for three or four years, and this is the first time I’ve encountered so many Mist Wraiths!”
Just as the inexperienced young man finished speaking, a large man sitting on the corpse of a Grey Fog Creature with a cigarette in his mouth said, “Hmph, that’s just because you haven’t seen much. We encountered even stronger Gray Mist Tides back in our day.”
“But this is the first time in years I’ve seen a Gray Mist Tide of this scale. It’s been a long time. And there’s something about this canyon.”
“Yeah, it’s like we run into a ton of Grey Fog Creatures every time we come here!”
“Exactly. This time it was deadly. Something’s wrong. We’ll probably have to report this to the higher-ups when we get back.”
During the brief rest, the group could not help but discuss the events.
The scene shifted to Su Aoxue. Once her complexion had slightly improved, she walked over to where Qin Wei was sitting.
Seeing her approach, Qin Wei thought she was there to discuss the distribution of spoils. “Are you here to — “
Before he could finish, Su Aoxue held out a hand. “Lend me your weapon for a moment.”
Hearing this, Qin Wei tightened his grip on his long blade. In the next second, Su Aoxue added, “To take the hearts.”
“You only want the hearts from these two Elite-level Grey Fog Creatures?”
“Yes. I only want the hearts of these two Elite-level ones, but the other Grey Fog Creatures can be distributed as usual.”
Qin Wei agreed to Su Aoxue’s request without much thought.
Although the heart of an Elite-level Grey Fog Creature was extremely precious and considered the most valuable organ, it was not a bad deal if she only wanted the hearts.
Tucking away his calculations, Qin Wei took the initiative to help Su Aoxue extract the Life Cores — the hearts — of the two creatures.
They were mostly grayish-brown with several crimson lines, appearing somewhat similar to a human heart.
However, because the spot where Qin Wei had stabbed those two Elite Mist Specters was exactly where the Life Cores were located, the hearts were severely damaged.
“I have some specialized containers I can give you to hold the hearts,” Qin Wei said, waving to one of his team members.
“Alright. Thank you.”
Seeing her cold yet polite demeanor, Qin Wei hesitated. ‘She doesn’t seem like some villainous person?’
‘A refugee from another Base City?’
As for Su Aoxue, she frowned slightly as she looked at the two heavily damaged hearts, wondering if that Mysterious Witch would accept them.
……
A short while later, according to the tally, the two Hunting Teams had killed a total of two Elite Mist Specters, eight Level 3 Mist Wraiths, and ten Level 2 Mist Wraiths.
Aside from the Elite Mist Specters, the rest of the Mist Wraiths were split between Su Aoxue’s team and Qin Wei’s team in a sixty-forty split.
Su Aoxue’s side took 40%.
Originally, Su Aoxue’s small squad had only killed one Level 2 Mist Wraith, but because her final wide-area attack had instantly turned the tide, the final distribution was pushed to a 40% share for them.
Meanwhile, the team led by Qin Wei had killed three Level 3 Mist Wraiths and five Level 2 Mist Wraiths during the battle.
Hearing this battle report, Su Aoxue could not help but look over at Zhao Jun and the others.
“Why did you only kill one Level 2 Mist Wraith?”
Zhao Jun and his group were all B-rank Martial Artists. A Level 2 Mist Wraith only corresponded to a C-rank Martial Artist, yet they had only killed one!
But Su Aoxue did not care much.
How few they killed was their business, but if they dared to try and take her share, she would not mind turning those with such thoughts into ice sculptures.
