Chapter 169: Still Worth It

“In the past, this place was called Animal Park.”

The dilapidated building was about to be torn down for reconstruction. The entire family of the construction supervisor stood at the entrance, gazing up at it one last time.

Among the young children, a naive question arose: “The past? How many years ago?”

Mi Xiaoshuang, sipping her tea, paused in surprise: “Ah, checking the Strategy Guide again?”

“If you’re following a Strategy Guide, at least don’t say it out loud.” Sexually Repressed Shadow covered her forehead helplessly, “You’ll get mocked by everyone.”

But Xu Chuyao didn’t laugh at all. Instead, she smiled gently. “Wait a bit, I want to unbox something. After that, we can play.”

Still not understanding what was happening, Mi Xiaolu obediently shut the dorm room door. As she stood outside, she could already hear her roommates’ faint shouts from inside.

Though April’s weather was warming, the yard still had a chill. Leaning against the deserted corridor, the cold wind whooshed in through the windows, brushing against the short, watercress-colored hair of the young girl.

Mi Xiaolu had two questions she just couldn’t figure out.

First, why did Xu Chuyao suddenly buy this sort of thing, and even make such a public show of unboxing it, as if deliberately for someone’s benefit?

Second, why did Shen Ning get angry all of a sudden, and what exactly was the reason, and at whom?

She pondered for a long while without coming up with an answer. After a bit, she yawned.

She listened at the door—still shouting inside, sometimes mixed with cries and gasps. It all sounded terribly intense.

Looks like it’d take a while. Wait, Mi Xiaoshuang suddenly realized something—wait, then where am I supposed to sleep?

After several minutes of difficult indecision, she reopened the door, shot a quick glance at the neighboring bunk bed, then quietly snuck into her own bed.

You two do your thing, I’ll do mine—yeah, right.

Xu Chuyao really overdid it; Mi Xiaolu couldn’t sleep at all. She had to sit up now and then, read for a bit, then lay back down, only to wake up again.

It was the first time she’d ever seen her roommate being “taught a lesson.” She felt a bit frightened, but also thought Xu Chuyao deserved it—she’d brought it on herself.

“Hey, Xu Chuyao,” Mi Xiaolei whispered, “Maybe you could do it a little less often.”

In the second half of the night, the battle finally ended. The wind died, and the thunder ceased. For a moment, the clouds dispersed, and the rain stopped.

“If I ever see you trying to use that kind of thing again,” Shen Ning gestured threateningly at Xu Chuyao, “I’ll…”

She didn’t finish, just left Xu Chuyao to think about it herself. That’s the Unknown Blessing.

After quickly tidying up, she prepared to return to her own dorm. Turning around, she saw Mi Xiaolu was already back, a little surprised.

“Did I wake you? Sorry.”

“It’s fine, it’s fine.”

The girl left, gently closing the door behind her, as if the killer demon king had just left with the starlight, and the polite, well-mannered Clear Dimension’s little sister was back.

“Xu Chuyao, are you okay?”

Mi Xiaoshuang asked quietly, but got no answer, so she got up to turn off the lights.

Back in bed, she heard a faint groan from the upper bunk across the room:

Mi Xiaolu sighed. “I don’t know what bad thing you did, but I’m sure you did something to make Shen Ning that angry… Was it worth it?”

“You wouldn’t understand.” Xu Chuyao struggled to crawl to the bedside, hands gripping her head, burying her little head deep into the pillow, and used the last of her strength to say three words: “Still worth it.”

Got two thousand, eight hundred of which was for showing the Transforming Wand, and the rest for the battle. Because of Shen Ning’s weird competitiveness, she kept asking which was better, hands or weapons. Xu Chuyao was embarrassed but insisted, though her body was no match, she never lost in her heart.

“I really don’t get what you two are doing, or why you’re doing it, but somehow it all seems to work out… Xu Chuyao?”

There was no answer this time; Big Thunder’s girl had already fallen asleep in the moonlight, snoring on her pillow.

“Maybe it really is happiness,” Mi Xiaolei muttered to herself.

Elsewhere, Shen Ning returned to her own dorm, and several shadows emerged under the lamp.

Sexually Repressed Shadow: “See, I told you, Xu Chuyao is up to no good. Always stay on alert!”

Broken Shadow whispered, “Actually, I don’t think Chuyao did anything wrong. She didn’t mean it.”

“She already knows you react to that, and she still made you go see it. That was deliberate!”

Shen Ning quickly washed up, changed, and crawled into bed.

“Sleep.” The girl closed her eyes. “I’m going to visit that world.”
