Leon Morsen stared at the unstoppable terrifying knight before him, feeling a chill rush from his feet to the top of his head, frightening him out of his soul!
He could only rely on the instincts honed on the battlefield, hastily crossing his longsword in front of his chest, attempting to block!
“Clang—!!!”
A sharp, piercing clash of metal erupted loudly, almost shattering eardrums, instantly overpowering all the noise and shouts in the square!
Sparks flew everywhere!
Da Hei’s massive hand, wrapped in menacing black armor, completely ignored the flickering cold light on the still fairly sharp blade, and grabbed Leon Morsen’s longsword embedded with rubies—his Knight Commander’s sword symbolizing his status.
Leon felt an overwhelming, unstoppable force surge along the sword’s length, as if he had collided with a speeding battering ram!
“Ugh!”
A painful groan escaped his throat as his thumb instantly cracked, hot blood spurting out and staining the exquisite hilt and cold metal gauntlet red.
His entire arm went numb in an instant, as if it had lost all feeling.
His proud strength, shining armor, magnificent longsword, and the honor and identity of Knight Commander… all seemed laughably insignificant before Da Hei’s cold iron hand!
The longsword in his hand now felt like a fragile dry twig.
“Crack!”
A crisp, bone-chilling snap rang out.
The Knight Commander’s longsword, which Leon Morsen had used to establish countless achievements and was personally bestowed by the Morsen Family’s lord as a symbol of his status and future, was… brutally broken by Da Hei’s sheer brute force!
The broken tip of the sword spun through the air with a piercing whistle before clattering onto the wooden platform, bouncing a few times.
“Im… impossible!! This can’t be!!!”
Leon Morsen’s eyes widened as he stared at the half-broken hilt left in his hand, feeling the searing pain and numbness creeping up his arm, as well as the terrifying knight emanating an overwhelming aura of death and destruction before him.
His mind went blank in an instant, replaced only by endless fear and chaos.
Why?
What on earth was going on?!
Right in front of him… that was clearly an undead creature!
A “prop” they had planned to use to stage the rescue of the townsfolk!
It should have been a carefully prepared pawn by that “Lord”!
Why was it attacking him?
Wasn’t it supposed to obey that Lord’s command?
That Lord… was the revered first ancestor of the Morsen Family, the powerful Necromancer Mal Morsen who pursued immortality—clearly his collaborator… his trump card!
Leon Morsen never imagined that the “Lord” he relied on and schemed with had long ago been utterly annihilated by the “Holy Light” magic of the seemingly fragile and harmless Saintess he viewed as prey.
What he now faced was no longer the creation of a Necromancer he could manipulate and scheme against, but a killing machine fully obeying its master’s orders!
With Da Hei’s arrival, Bai Shui Town’s square had descended into complete chaos.
“Monster!!”
“Undead! It’s an Undead Knight! Even scarier than before!”
“Run! Run quickly—!”
Fear exploded, spreading faster than a plague.
The townsfolk who had been kneeling just moments ago, eyes burning with fanaticism as they looked at Su Nian, now only wore terror-stricken faces.
They screamed and cried, running wildly in all directions like headless flies, cursing their parents for not being born with extra legs.
As for those Morsen Family Knights who had arrogantly pointed swords at Su Nian just moments before, they were even more pathetic than the townsfolk.
Their leader, the arrogant Leon Morsen, had been disarmed upon first contact, and even his treasured longsword—always kept by his side—even that had been broken like a twig by the undead knight!
Several comrades who tried to stop the knight were easily swept aside, their armor dented and lying motionless on the ground, their fate unknown.
This black-armored knight was absurdly powerful!
These knights were used to bullying the weak with Leon Morsen’s backing, but when faced with such a formidable foe, their skills, gear, and even their pitiful knightly honor were reduced to nothing.
“Retreat… Fall back quickly!!” Someone cried out, voice trembling.
That order was like a command.
The remaining knights didn’t even bother with the groaning commander on the ground or the Morsen Family’s tasks and reputation—they were scared out of their wits, whipping their horses around and kicking their mounts hard, desperate to flee this cursed place and get as far away from the black knight as possible.
Their desperate escape was no different from a pack of beaten dogs.
***
On the wooden platform.
Su Nian maintained her “Saintess state” appearance, but her amber eyes widened slightly, a flicker of astonishment flashing deep within her pupils.
The earth-shaking upheaval had come too suddenly, and the enormous black shadow that slowly emerged from the dust made her heart tighten.
Of course, she recognized it.
That terrifying black armor, that heavy aura of death… it was the terrifying knight who had battled the Horned Demon Bastard in the dilapidated church until neither could gain the upper hand!
How could it be here?
And judging by its posture… it seemed even stronger than before?
The two flickering ghostly blue soul flames in its helmet’s eye sockets radiated an even colder, more chilling aura than previously.
Wasn’t it supposed to have been defeated by the Horned Demon Bastard?
Even if not, it should have vanished completely after the Necromancer’s death!
The Necromancer was dead, so logically, the undead creatures he controlled should have lost control and become nothing more than heaps of scrap metal.
Yet now, it was not only alive and kicking but had boldly come out to beat the Knight Commander.
And… why was the terrifying knight attacking Leon Morsen?
Internal strife?
Did undead creatures fight amongst themselves?
Or… was someone else controlling it from behind the scenes?
Countless thoughts flashed through Su Nian’s mind, leaving her a little confused.
Should she intervene now and purify this dangerous terrifying knight as well?
But this guy wasn’t easy to deal with; even the Horned Demon Bastard had been entangled with it for quite a while…
Maybe she should call the Horned Demon Bastard to help fight it together?
‘Wait.’ Su Nian suddenly realized a crucial detail.
Just moments ago, the terrifying knight… seemed to have only suddenly emerged from underground and attacked when Knight Commander Leon Morsen threatened to forcibly take her away with his sword pointed at her.
That timing… was far too coincidental.
Could it be…?
A ridiculous yet reasonable thought sprang up.
This terrifying knight… was here to help her?
Huh?
Since when had she become an ally of the undead creatures?
She was a radiant magic user, a practitioner of Holy Light who personally purified the Necromancer.
Was she really an accomplice of the undead creatures?
How could that be right?
Su Nian felt her worldview shaken just a little.
In the end, after a brief weighing of pros and cons, Su Nian decided to hold her position and not act for now.
At least for the moment, this sudden disruption by the terrifying knight had indeed done her a huge favor, allowing her to temporarily avoid direct conflict with the Morsen Family Knights.
She would wait and see how things unfolded.
She was now unusually calm, no longer impulsive.
When she had faced the Horned Demon Bastard earlier, she had been too rash, which was why she now had to pretend complete submission before him.
Even so, she believed…things would get better!
