The others werenโt fools either. Franโs words, laden with deeper meaning, were highly suggestive. With just a bit of thought, anyone could grasp her intentionโฆ except for the Crimson Star General.
โHuh? So Number Two didnโt defect after all?โ
Azure Echo scratched his head and began explaining to his big brother alone.
Ogata Dharma mustered a bit of spirit and said, โI understand your intent, but we need solid intelligence to convince the other side, donโt we?โ
โIโll take care of the intelligence,โ Clara declared grandly. With a Moon Rabbit combat unit infiltrating the rabbit crowd, she was bound to get some informationโuseful or not.
โBut, how are we supposed to let the mole learn about this news without tipping them off?โ
It wasnโt just about letting the Fourth Calamity knowโthey also had to believe that โAzure Cavalier broke free of brainwashing and is now a spy.โ
From outside the hangar came the sound of a vehicle, and Clara fell silent just in time.
โAhem, everyone, may I interrupt for a moment?โ
A woman with long, ashen-gray hair peeked in at the hangar door.
โMiss Rabi? Why donโt you come in and speak?โ
At Claraโs invitation, Rabi wore her usual professional smile, walked in gracefully, and pushed a trolley along with her.
On the cart sat a rectangular object covered by a white cloth.
Was thatโฆ some kind of box?
Lucia, who was on friendly terms with Rabi, asked, โIs there something you need, Miss Rabi?โ
โItโs like thisโsome Moon Rabbits surrendered and came to us last nightโฆโ
Rabi lifted the cloth, revealing a large rectangular cage underneath.
Inside the cage were seven Moon Rabbits, barely clinging to life, all looking unhealthy with wounds of various sizes. Though still alive, they had clearly been abused by security.
Clara frowned.
Those guys not only have issues with their work attitude, but their mental healthโs not great either, huh!?
โHuh? Moon Rabbits surrender too?โ
โThey look like they confessed under duress.โ
Ogata Dharma and the others had just learned about this, so of course they were surprised.
Clara and Fran, who already knew, played along and put on shocked expressions to avoid arousing suspicion.
โThere was one more originally, but it got away,โ Rabi said.
Got away? More like got dragged back!
โThe security department wanted to execute all these rabbits, but I thought I should leave the decision to you,โ Rabi continued.
Maybe to avoid taking the blame herself, Miss Rabi didnโt mention a word about why that one Moon Rabbit โescapedโโnot realizing that Anya had already spilled the beans before heading to bed.
โDid Miss Rabi even prepare food for the Moon Rabbits?โ Lucia asked.
Next to the cage was a bundle of fresh fruits and carrots.
โYes, I was worried theyโd starve after a night with nothing to eat.โ
โYouโre pretty kind, Miss Rabi.โ
Lucia picked up a carrot, intending to feed the bound Moon Rabbits through the bars, but before she could, Clara yanked her back by the collar.
โDonโt get too close to them, itโs dangerous!!โ
Though these rabbits had surrendered, without Clara (a Moon Rabbit) leading them, their behavior was unpredictableโno one knew what they were thinking at this point.
If they suddenly bit, forget the fresh carrotsโeven Luciaโs hand could be gnawed off, and besidesโฆ
โThey look like they were beaten up by security all night. Theyโre bound to be grumpy now.โ
Because of her previous contact with the Moon Rabbit combat unit, and what happened last night, Lucia had let her guard down. She broke the carrot into pieces and stuffed it through the bars.
The Moon Rabbits still ate the carrot pieces that came close to their mouths.
Lucia complained, โSecurity is too much! Shouldnโt surrendered Moon Rabbits be treated better? Besides, theyโre all tied up like this, what danger could they pose?โ
โMiss Anya said this morning that the Moon Rabbit taken to the infirmary by Miss Rabi escaped too, right? Wasnโt that one also tied up with tape like a dumpling? If it could run, these could too.โ
As Clara said this, Rabi looked a little embarrassed.
โAhem, sorry, that was my mistake at work.โ
Compared to the other staff at the resort, Rabi was pretty diligent at her job.
Thatโs why Clara hadnโt wanted to suspect herโand even felt some goodwill toward her.
But after briefly interacting with her as a Moon Rabbit last night, sheโd started to feel something was off, especially when she considered Franโs plan just nowโฆ
โWho wouldโve thought the Moon Rabbits would surrender? Their group isnโt united at all! Could they have been incited by Azure Cavalierโฆโ
She trailed off as if sheโd let something slip, covering her small mouth and sneaking a glance at Rabi to observe her reaction.
Rabi didnโt seem shaken, just confused, and asked, โYou said Azure Cavalier? I heardโฆ he sacrificed himself last night, didnโt he?โ
โUh, wellโฆ actuallyโฆโ
Clara stammered, giving the others time to react.
In moments like this, Fran was always the fastest on the uptake.
โTo tell you the truth, this morning we got a secret communication, with a set of coordinates sent to us. The Sigma Heroes also reported that Azure Cavalier hadnโt returned to Divine Abyss Rebirth, so we suspectโฆ heโs infiltrated the Moon Rabbits.โ
โHe turned into a Moon Rabbit? That can happen?โ
Rabi stared in shock, her expression unreadable.
Franโs explanation muddied their sideโs knowledge, turning Azure Cavalierโs role as a spy into mere conjecture.
โBefore you arrived, Clara and Pure White Tempest had already scouted those coordinates and were attacked by a group of muscle rabbitsโฆ That place is probably their lair.โ
Clara picked up where Fran left off:
โWe were going to wipe out the Moon Rabbits today, but after receiving Azure Cavalierโs intel, we have to postpone for now.โ
She also gave herself a reasonable excuse for not stealing the virus.
Seeing Rabi still confused, Fran reminded her, โOf course, please donโt tell anyone about this. If the Fourth Calamity hears, Azure Cavalier could be in trouble. After all, we suspect someone from the Fourth Calamity is hiding among the resort staff.โ
โIf Clara hadnโt let it slip, you wouldnโt have told me either, would you?โ
Rabi smiled wryly, then promised, โDonโt worry, I wonโt say a word.โ
If the Moon Rabbits took any action against Azure Cavalier, or if anyone else learned about this, thenโฆ
Then Rabi would be a prime suspect as the mole.
โIn that case, Iโll leave you to your meetingโI donโt want to hear any more secrets~โ
Saying that, Rabi exited the hangar, then poked her head back in to point at the cage on the trolley.
โOh, those rabbitsโplease take care of them.โ
Hope this continue to updates
