“Enough!!”
Feeling the hand that had abruptly appeared on her waist, the anger and resentment in Jiang Laiโs heart reached their peak. She could endure it in the room when it was just the two of them, but she absolutely could not let Shen Ruxue see this.
If Shen Ruxue witnessed her in such a disgraceful state, there was a high probability her daughter would find out.
Jiang Lai cared deeply about her image, especially in front of her daughter. Even if she could discard her own pride, her image before her precious daughter had to remain flawless. This concerned the dignity of a fatherโa bottomless line that Jiang Lai refused to let anyone cross.
Jiang Lai used her hands to forcefully pry Si Yinaโs hand off her waist, desperate to draw a clear line between them in front of Shen Ruxue.
However, such actions could no longer salvage her reputation. Her “innocence” had already been thoroughly demolished by the visible marks on her body.
Shen Ruxue watched as Si Yina moved in only to be thrown off. She finally began to carefully observe the woman who had appeared. If she wasn’t mistaken, this womanโwho was seemingly cheating on her sisterโwas the same person she had encountered on the beach before. Her name was Si Yina, if she recalled correctly.
Recently, this person had been causing quite a stir in her social circles. Even someone as indifferent to gossip as Shen Ruxue had heard some rumors. Shen Ruxue wasn’t a narcissist, but given the things Si Yina had said to her back then, combined with the fact that the woman liked girls, the previous encounter was clearly an attempt to hit on her.
Shen Ruxue didn’t know when so many people around her had started liking girlsโher own sister included.
When she first learned the truth about her sister, she was surprised, but as long as her sister was happy and could find fulfillment in the relationship, she, as an older sister, had no reason to interfere.
Originally, she had truly wished for her sister and this woman to go the distance. But now, Shen Ruxue felt that her sister’s “girlfriend” was utterly unworthy. While her sister was worried sick, this woman was out here fooling around.
In Shen Ruxueโs eyes, Jiang Laiโs act of pushing Si Yina away looked like a deliberate performance staged for her benefit, knowing full well that Shen Ruxue could easily contact Chi Yingyu and Jiang Le’yi.
“If you’re so afraid of your true colors being exposed, stop acting,” Shen Ruxue said, her heart burning with anger. At the thought of her foolish sister, her mood soured. She would never allow anyone to bully her family.
The main reason Shen Ruxue cared so much was her desire to make up for past debts. In this moment, she desperately yearned for a chance to prove her own worth.
“I will tell Miss Chi and Le’yi everything I have seen tonight. I won’t add any fuel to the fire; I will simply state exactly what I witnessed with my own eyes.”
Shen Ruxue had originally intended to bring Jiang Lai to see her sister, but now she felt that would be redundant. If her sister saw this woman in this state, she would probably be driven to an early grave by anger.
Although her own husband would never cheat, Shen Ruxue believed that if she were in this situation, she would have the urge to kill someone.
Shen Ruxue loved her husband, Jiang Lai, very, very much. Therefore, she believed her sister must have invested the same level of emotion into her own partner. Her sister hadn’t rested well lately; if she found out about this, she might collapse.
Shen Ruxue gave the “adulterous pair” in front of her two cold looks before turning and walking away in a fit of rage. As for the final outcome, she would leave that for her sister to decide once she told her everything.
Watching Shen Ruxue walk away without hesitation, Jiang Laiโs face was filled with helplessness and panic. She wanted to chase after her to explain, “It’s not like that! The whole thing isn’t what you think!”
Jiang Lai shouted loudly, but Shen Ruxue didn’t look back. Seeing that her voice had no effect, Jiang Lai tried to runโbut Si Yina wasn’t about to give her that chance.
Si Yina had plenty of questions of her own for Jiang Lai.
Ignoring her messages and leaving today was one thing; if she didn’t get a handle on this, who knew what other acts of defiance Jiang Lai would commit next?
“Do you know that girl?” Si Yina gripped Jiang Laiโs hand tightly, determined to get to the bottom of things.
But looking at Si Yinaโs high-and-mighty attitude, Jiang Lai was pushed past the breaking point. If her daughter found out her father was such a loose personโan object of humiliation pressed down by anotherโhow could she possibly continue to live in this world?
Jiang Lai turned to look at the culprit behind all of this. With hot tears in her eyes, she lunged at Si Yina. The two began scuffling on the sand as Jiang Lai tried to vent all her unhappiness and pain.
They fought almost like children, pulling at each other’s collars and rolling around on the beach. Large tears fell uncontrollably from the corners of Jiang Laiโs eyes, accompanied by her fists as she tried to strike out at her resentment.
Jiang Laiโs punches looked fierce, but Si Yina, the recipient, felt strangely satisfied. The current Jiang Lai was a messโdisheveled, broken, looking as if she might blow away with the next gust of wind.
The attack was aggressive, and Jiang Lai looked as if she wanted to devour her, but beneath that fierce exterior lay a fragile essence.
Even while being hit, Si Yina was utterly infatuated with Jiang Laiโs beauty.
Jiang Lai knew she was just in a state of “impotent rage.” Even though she swung her fists with all her might, she found herself subconsciously pulling her punches the moment they landed on Si Yina.
Seeing that Si Yina, pinned beneath her, wasn’t fighting back at all, Jiang Lai eventually stopped.
“I hate you… I hate you…”
Sitting atop Si Yina under the moonlight, Jiang Lai looked like a shattered figure. Her face was streaked with tears that flowed down her cheeks, and her shoulders trembled violently.
Knowing she was in a state of utter wretchedness, she covered her face with her powerless hands. Her cries were filled with deep despair and helplessness; every sob sounded as if it were tearing her heart and lungs apart. In the silence of the coast, Jiang Laiโs weeping sounded exceptionally tragic.
