Sunlight fell on Lu Yunze’s cheek.
Feeling the brightness, it did not take long for him to frown and slowly wake up.
“Hiss… my back and waist ache. What happened to me?”
After sitting up, Lu Yunze stretched. His eyes were blurry with sleep, and it took a moment for him to notice his surroundings.
This was not the familiar layout of his own bedroom.
He froze for a second before realizing — he had slept over at Jiang Sui’s house.
He had originally intended to go home and rest, but Jiang Sui had insisted he stay the night. Unable to win the argument, he had finally agreed.
But that was not all — she had even made him sleep in her bed.
Lu Yunze had no choice at the time but to comply.
Then… what happened after that?
He tried hard to remember.
He only recalled being very tired, and Jiang Sui saying she would give him a “reward.”
Right, the reward!
Lu Yunze gasped as he finally remembered the events of last night.
Jiang Sui had given him a comfortable knee pillow.
And — it was a knee pillow without stockings, making the touch feel much more real.
And then…
Images from last night flashed through his mind, along with the girl’s slightly flushed cheeks. Lu Yunze suddenly felt a bit uneasy.
‘I was just helping her relax…’
No wonder his arms were sore now that he was awake; it turned out he had used too much effort.
“Where is Jiang Sui?”
He turned to look.
The girl was still lying on the bed, fast asleep.
For a moment, he did not know whether he should look at this scene or not.
They had been so tired last night that they had simply fallen asleep in each other’s arms.
Now, the thing she was hugging in her arms had turned into the quilt.
A trace of lingering exhaustion remained on her face.
Lu Yunze rarely saw her looking so quiet and well-behaved.
‘Is this what they call a Static Beauty…?’
No —
Even when she moved around like a crazy rabbit, she was still a beauty.
She was curled up like a cat, her legs clamping the quilt, while her pajama top barely covered the tops of her thighs.
Lu Yunze quickly looked away.
If he kept watching, things might get problematic.
‘How did this end up looking like a one-night stand…’
He scratched his head and stood up to check his clothes.
Fortunately, they were all still on properly.
Nothing worse had happened.
He left the bedroom with light steps, trying his best not to make a sound as he closed the door.
He sat in the living room for a while, lost in thought, and soon heard the sound of a door opening.
Xia Youqing had also come out.
The two made eye contact, and both were stunned for a moment.
“Madam, good morning.”
“Why are you still here? And why are you wearing Sui’er’s clothes?”
“That… Madam, let me explain. My clothes were ruined, and I couldn’t exactly wear that suit… to sleep in your daughter’s bed… wait, no, to stay over at your house…”
Xia Youqing’s expression stiffened, but she did not lash out. She simply sighed.
“Sui’er will have to leave me and live her own life sooner or later. I should get used to it early.”
“You don’t have to think that way, Madam. It’s normal to care about your child.”
Lu Yunze actually felt a bit envious of Jiang Sui.
He had lacked parental care since he was a child.
Xia Youqing boiled some water and poured him a glass.
“Do you want to eat Breakfast?”
“Do you know how to make Breakfast, Madam?”
“Can’t we just order delivery?”
“I should probably go out and buy it.”
He could also pick up a set of wearable clothes while he was at it.
Otherwise, if he went back wearing Jiang Sui’s pajamas, it would definitely attract unnecessary attention.
Especially from Luo Yao — she would certainly question him relentlessly.
There were many Breakfast shops outside the residential area, and a clothing store a bit further away.
He had been exhausted last night, and his stomach was already protesting.
The aroma of steaming Bun, soy milk, and noodles made his appetite soar.
Lu Yunze picked out a set of clothes, bought some Breakfast, and brought it all back to Jiang Sui’s home.
Xia Youqing was stunned when she opened the door.
“…Who are you?”
“It’s me, Lu Yunze.”
“Holy crap.”
She let him in and circled around him twice, clicking her tongue in wonder.
“You’re actually this handsome after changing your clothes? Though your hair looks like a bird’s nest.”
Lu Yunze was somewhat speechless.
Why was she only noticing his looks now?
The two of them ate Breakfast together.
Xia Youqing could not help but sigh.
“You’re handsome, have a good personality, and you can fight. If it’s you, you’ll definitely be able to take care of Sui’er when we aren’t around in the future.”
“I will take care of her, but you can’t leave her.”
“I know.”
She stirred her soy milk, her tone sinking slightly.
“However, just because I trust you doesn’t mean I trust the Luo Family.”
She still had not lowered her guard.
Lu Yunze nodded gently.
“Madam, why can’t you try to trust the Luo Family?”
“Impossible.”
Her tone was categorical.
The atmosphere grew a bit stiff.
Lu Yunze did not pursue the topic further.
He placed Jiang Sui’s Breakfast on the table. Before leaving, he hesitated for a moment and then walked into her bedroom.
She was still sleeping.
It was rare for her to sleep in like this today.
However, her posture was a bit… ungraceful.
Her limbs were spread out, and her short-sleeved shirt barely covered the vital areas.
Her legs were wide open.
Lu Yunze sighed.
He helped her move her legs together and pulled the hem of her shirt down.
As for the pants, he would let her put those on herself when she woke up.
He reached out and tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear, then helped her cover up with the quilt.
Finally, he knelt by the bedside and looked at her.
“See you next week.”
With that, he left the Bedroom.
The moment the door closed —
Jiang Sui suddenly opened her eyes.
“Since you’re leaving, shouldn’t you have used a kiss to say goodbye?”
She mumbled to herself.
“His face was so close, yet he only looked?”
She rolled out of bed and walked into the living room.
She saw the Breakfast on the table and the clothes on the chair.
“Sui’er, you’re awake? Go wash up and eat Breakfast.”
“Okay, Mother.”
Once her mother returned to her room, the smile on Jiang Sui’s face vanished.
She picked up the clothes and changed.
Sitting in the spot where Lu Yunze had just been sitting, she leaned against the table.
She used her cheeks and her body to feel the lingering warmth he had left behind.
She grabbed his collar and took a light sniff.
Her cheeks turned slightly red.
“It’s not enough at all… Lu Yunze.”
She whispered softly.
“When will you reach the point where you can’t leave me?”
She curled her body up slightly.
—
On the other side —
Xia Youqing had returned to her room and was staring at her Mobile Phone in distress.
“It still works, but the screen is shattered…”
Just as she was about to use it, she suddenly froze.
There were many missed calls in the communication logs.
And —
They were all from the same number.
She stared at that familiar string of digits, her gaze gradually becoming sharp.
—
After returning to the Luo Family home, unsurprisingly, the first person Lu Yunze saw was Luo Yao.
He was sitting in the living room having a Drink when Luo Yao walked over without a word and sat across from him. Her presence was so strong it was impossible to ignore.
“Morning.”
“Morning, Brother Lu.”
Luo Yao looked up at him.
“Why didn’t you come home last night?”
“Ah, I accidentally lost track of time while playing.”
“Is that really all?”
“Yeah, look, I even have the chat and spending records.”
Knowing that Luo Yao would get to the bottom of things, Lu Yunze had prepared in advance. He had asked a Jiang Sui’s Friend to forge some records and used a proactive attitude to dispel her suspicions.
Luo Yao looked at his records. Although she believed them, she still could not help but say:
“I didn’t think Brother Lu had learned how to stay out all night.”
“I’m not a child anymore. It was just staying out for one night.”
“That’s good. Just this once, okay?”
“Mhm.”
Lu Yunze originally wanted to keep agreeing with her, but Jiang Sui’s words suddenly flashed through his mind.
‘Will there really never be another night spent away from home?’
‘Or rather, will I go to her house again?’
Lu Yunze suddenly had the sensation that he had fallen into a Trap, yet he could not find any clues.
‘…It’s probably just my imagination?’
