“Predecessor, how is the situation on this side?”
Sophia looked at the Teleportation Array she was standing on.
She could understand a little of it, but only just a little.
The system of Vast Power Runes was highly complex.
Although there were only twenty-six basic Runes, there were as many as tens of thousands of advanced Runes.
These Runes had been excavated, combined, tested, and recorded from various parts of nature, accumulating bit by bit into their current scale.
Through the research of successive generations of Magic Users, they formed what is now known as Rune Magicology.
Its level of depth was something a Human could never hope to master in a single lifetime.
Even for an Elf….
Sophia’s age was only near-adult among Elves.
That she could understand even a bit of the operation mode of this massive Magic Array was already the result of painstaking study, let alone anything else.
“It will be ready in a little while. It’s all thanks to someone making a contribution.”
Enya shook the gray bead in her hand.
Sophia’s gaze fixed upon it.
A Magic Power core of a Magical Beast was usually a very rough Gem.
The lower the rank of the Magical Beast, the more the Magic Power core resembled a stone found on the side of the road—strange in shape and rough on the surface.
The higher the rank of the Magic Core, the more it would take on a regular form.
This was a method used to distinguish the Order of Magic.
However, a Magic Power core cultivated by an intelligent being possessed extraordinary qualities.
It was meticulously designed, taking on the form of a finely carved Exquisite Sphere, and the higher the Order of Magic, the more delicate it became.
Beneath Sophia’s veil, her emerald-blue eyes sized up the pale-gray Exquisite Sphere floating in Enya’s hand.
Its aura was suppressed to prevent unnecessary dissipation of Magic Power.
Through that structure of layer upon layer—six layers in total—Sophia could judge exactly what rank of core this was.
She turned her gaze toward Enya and asked.
“Is this a Sixth Rank core?”
In truth, she was asking where it came from, as she was a bit curious.
Enya replied casually.
“A hidden hand was left behind here, planning to assassinate me while I was modifying the Magic Array, but he was a bit too weak.”
Modifying a Magic Array required total concentration.
If one encountered an attack during such a time, a Magic User would usually find it very difficult to react.
Especially against a professional Assassin who specialized in speed and concealing their aura.
Although that Shadow Guard’s primary duty was protection, he also specialized in assassination and concealment.
This much could be seen from the several abilities he had demonstrated.
Furthermore, the Shadow Guard had played a little trick.
He deliberately waited until the moment Enya was modifying the last set of Dark Gold Pillars, aiming to make Enya feel that the area was already safe and thus relax her guard.
Then, he struck in that single instant.
Unfortunately, Enya had known he was hiding in the shadows from the very beginning.
She did not fear any assassination, and the result was what they had now.
Enya held the pale-gray Exquisite Sphere, using the Magic Power within to charge the Teleportation Array and maintain its operation.
She glanced at the surrounding Dark Gold Pillars and then spoke softly.
“It’s about ready.”
Upon hearing these words, the nearby Sophia and Nina made their preparations.
After the battle just now, Nina’s Magic Power was down to only thirty percent, while Sophia had only ten percent left—a level that was almost hitting rock bottom.
This caused the total amount of Magic Power required by the Teleportation Array to decrease significantly, so Enya planned to depart early.
Under her control, the Teleportation Array beneath their feet began to glow brightly.
The entire Teleportation Array platform began to vibrate.
Those Dark Gold Pillars began to sink downward, gradually submerging into the ground until the surface of the Magic Array was flat once more.
Sophia looked at her surroundings.
A layer of distortion rose in the space, and upon this distortion, colorful lights similar to an oil film were stained.
Buzz, buzz, buzz—
The sound of vibration reached their ears. At this moment, Nina felt a wave of nausea.
She suffered from teleportation sickness!
Sophia placed a hand on her shoulder and pulled her closer.
Nina’s hands instinctively wrapped around Sophia’s waist.
Enya lightly tossed the Exquisite Sphere in her hand; it had now turned completely dull and lightless.
As it flew into the air and its suppression was released, the interconnected Runes on the sphere began to fluctuate rapidly.
Finally, they all met the end of collapsing and being annihilated.
After the topmost layer disappeared, the internal structures followed suit, vanishing into nothingness.
Layer by layer, the shackles on the Origin Magic Power were released.
After a practitioner died, the Magic Core would quickly undergo this scene of collapse and dissipation due to the loss of suppression from Spirit Power.
Enya activated the Teleportation Array. As the light of the Magic Array gradually intensified, they were enveloped within this layer of brilliance.
If one were to look from the outside at this moment, they would see their figures fading and becoming distorted within the warping space.
As the spatial distortion within the Magic Array reached its limit, emitting an ethereal tremor, the space atop the Teleportation Array returned to its original state.
At the same time, the light of the Magic Array dimmed completely, leaving only a faint trace of spatial distortion lingering in the air.
The Northern Mountains, the deep region, an open clearing.
A cluster of blue light suddenly ignited in the space.
Initially, it was only the size of a fist, but in a few blinks of an eye, it grew into a giant ball of light three to four meters in diameter.
Once it grew large, the details within became visible.
Dark-black lightning flickered, and with a booming sound, the surrounding space distorted violently.
Simultaneously, three figures emerged within.
The forms of those three figures also gradually returned to normal from their distorted state.
The spatial distortion and the eerie blue light appeared quickly and vanished just as fast.
The withered yellow leaves kicked up in the surroundings all drifted back down.
Enya looked around after landing.
Towering ancient trees stood tall, and the ground was covered in a layer of withered leaves.
Sophia spoke at this time.
“So this is the Moonfall Mountains?”
“Yes.”
Enya nodded.
In the Human Common Tongue, this mountainous forest was called the Northern Mountains because it was located to the north of where Humans lived.
In Elvish, however, this mountain range was known as the Moonfall Mountains.
“Urgh—”
Nina was crouching to the side, vomiting.
She hadn’t eaten anything until now, so she could only keep retching up stomach acid.
Even for a powerhouse at the peak of the Sixth Rank in the eyes of others…
Sophia looked at Nina’s miserable state.
She didn’t know whether she should laugh or not.
She walked to Nina’s side and reached out to stroke her back. At the same time, a faint green light pulsed from her hand.
Nina’s symptoms of vomiting eased slightly.
Enya looked at the snotty, teary Nina and could only shrug her wings helplessly.
Teleportation sickness was a physiological issue; it was very difficult to solve from the perspective of the Magic Array.
“The commotion just now will probably draw someone here to investigate. Let’s leave this place first and find a spot to hide.”
“Alright, Predecessor.”
Sophia helped Nina up.
After Nina stood up, she actively pushed Sophia away.
“Nina… Nina is fine.”
Her complexion wasn’t very good, but she still maintained an expression as if she really was okay. Even so, Sophia did not expose her.
Sophia patted her small head.
“Since you’re fine, that’s for the best. Let’s leave here quickly.”
“Mhm, mhm.”
Nina tilted her head up and nodded lightly. Then, she started walking in one direction. At this time, Sophia looked toward Enya.
Enya followed behind Nina.
Sophia was stunned for a moment, then quickly caught up.
Less than five minutes after they left, a group of people arrived at the scene. They were each wearing uniform Black Cloaks.
The leading man walked up to the area with footprints. He crouched down and placed his palm over a footprint.
Soon, he withdrew his palm and muttered to himself.
“Three women…”
After contemplating for a moment, the man commanded the subordinates behind him.
“Follow the scent and find these three women. Remember not to act rashly; first, see what purpose they have for coming here.”
“Understood!”
Several people in Black Cloaks responded in unison.
Then, their figures vanished in a flash. Dark shadows flickered beneath the nearby tree shade, quickly disappearing into the forest.
The man stood up and looked toward the spot where some faint spatial fluctuations still remained, his brow furrowing slightly.
“Who could this be?”
On the other side, a Dragon and two Elves were traveling through the lush jungle.
After a period of rest, Nina had finally regained her vitality. As soon as she entered the forest, the entire Elf changed.
Sophia saw Nina’s figure leaping between the trees. The tips of her long ears flushed crimson. Not all Elves were like this.
Nina was an exception!
Although Forest Elves were very “traditional,” they weren’t so conservative that they had to live in treehouses, nor did every Elf have to climb trees to pick fruit to eat.
They were also capable of farming.
If they didn’t develop cities, how could they support so many Elves?
Enya was looking around.
Arriving here was still not the true beginning. The reason they had teleported here was that Enya had modified the data.
Teleportation Arrays recorded coordinate data, and the coordinate on the other side was very likely to have an ambush.
Therefore, Enya had shifted the teleportation position by a certain distance.
They were now heading to the location of that corresponding Teleportation Array.
Doing this had another benefit: it disrupted the two Teleportation Arrays that were calibrated to each other.
This ensured that the people left behind here would have no way to use the Teleportation Array to return to White Stone City.
Nina suddenly jumped down from a tree, her arms stuffed with beautiful fruit. She first ran to Sophia’s side.
“Sister Sophia, you eat.”
“Alright, I’ll eat.”
Sophia looked at Nina’s cute expression as she sought praise.
She reached out to take a fruit, wiped it on her clothes, and took an elegant, small bite.
The fruit was only the size of an egg and bright red. It tasted very bland, essentially having no flavor at all; after all, it was meant for birds.
From Sophia’s tender pink mouth, Seeds were spat out from time to time.
As soon as the Seeds she spat hit the ground, they took root and sprouted.
Only after Nina saw Sophia eat did she run to Enya’s side.
“Hey, Dragon, you want to eat or not?”
Enya looked at the fruit; to be honest, she had no appetite.
But seeing Nina’s expression…
She had to eat one.
Nina’s small mouth was slightly pouted, looking incredibly tsundere. Her watery emerald-blue eyes would secretly peek at the Helmet Enya was wearing.
That look seemed to say…
If you want to eat, it’s not like I can’t give you one.
Enya reached out her hand.
Nina puffed out her chest.
