Scout Joner stood proudly, hands on hips, accepting everyone’s compliments.
“Miss Discipline Nun, what exactly happened here? How did the Blood Ghosts sneak in to set the fire? Since we couldn’t detect any Blood Ghosts lurking in the shadows, we can’t afford to let our guard down.” The Judge Knight Captain spoke with suspicion.
“Xingshang, hold on. While we’re defending the estate, we also have to be wary of backstabbing. That’s hard to manage at the same time,” analyzed the Elite Kingdom Knight Commander.
“Everyone, don’t worry. There are no Wushan Ghosts hiding inside our estate.” Samimi answered confidently.
“Why is that?” Captain of the Demon Knights, Frolro, asked.
“Qise Duo, do you sense anything?” Samimi inquired.
Fatty Knight Qise Duo circled near the general store’s enemy position, quietly reporting, “There are traces of residual magic here.”
“Clearly, it’s arson, but it must be a magical trick. Samimi scanned the area and approached the general store’s front, noticing the amount of firewood seemed off.”
“If you’re sure no Wushan Ghost slipped into the estate, then who’s casting the magic? I’ve been stationed on the wall. This place is easy to defend or attack. We haven’t let our guard down for a moment. I guarantee no Blood Ghost has infiltrated the estate,” said Kunyupu.
Everyone fell into silence. Fatty Knight’s reasoning made sense, but deducing it’s magic doesn’t rule out the possibility of Wushan Ghosts sneaking in. After all, the Demon-Hunting Nun had mentioned all Blood Ghosts are blood mages.
Samimi gave no answer, just turning her head to look at the unlucky castle behind them.
Everyone followed her gaze and immediately sensed something was wrong.
At the castle window, a small figure of a ghost flickered. Everyone felt a chill run down their spines.
“Is that…?” Even the Pope’s Left Hand sounded utterly shocked.
“The sun has set. Everyone, head to your Castle Post. Leave this place quickly and don’t look back. I’ll explain everything later.” Samimi did not linger and promptly issued orders.
The group followed the Demon-Hunting Nun’s command and quickly moved to their defensive positions. Everyone took their places.
Samimi and several team captains from the dispatch team also lined up neatly. The other Church Knights and Kingdom Knights could only stand guard, their ears filled with the distant, piercing sounds from the Twisted Forest signaling the approaching threat.
Everyone was anxious, waiting for the Demon-Hunting Nun to clear up the doubts. Without answers, no one was in the right mindset to fight.
“The seal has been broken. The ghost figure wandering inside the castle is the True Ancestor’s Will,” Samimi explained with a tone of deep gravity.
“The True Ancestor’s Will?”
“How is that possible? The Will has manifested?”
“That means the seal has been lifted!”
“If the Will and the body merge, does that mean we’re doomed?”
Chaos erupted as everyone argued and speculated wildly, no one doubting the Nun’s words.
“There are two Blood Clan True Ancestors—the King of the Blood Ghouls and the White Blood Ghoul Lady. Decades ago, Demon-Hunting Nuns and heroes from all sides fought and sealed away the King of the Blood Ghouls. He is a terrifying undead behemoth capable of fighting us blood mages relentlessly for seven days and nights.”
“He can transform massive blood magic into flesh regeneration powers that defy death. He is the only Blood Ghost able to endure sunlight because his regenerative ability outpaces the damage caused by the sun’s heat. He is commonly known as the ‘Immortal King’. You’ve probably heard of him,” Samimi launched into a detailed explanation.
After she finished, some nodded while others peeked around nervously, but her reputation was solid.
Even though the information on the Mountain Clan was lost, the legend of the Immortal King lived on. This shows just how terrifyingly famous this king once was.
“The Immortal King can’t be killed, only sealed,” Samimi continued.
“What if the Immortal King revives? Won’t we be doomed?” the Roadside Female Gunner gasped.
“How do we stop the True Ancestor’s Will?” Liang Ruijie pressed.
“The Immortal King was sealed away by generations of blood mages over hundreds of years. Can twenty-five of us accomplish that?” Min Zonghong asked anxiously.
Everyone’s tension rose; there was no peace of mind. The Nun’s explanation made clear the danger and the magnitude of the challenge, yet it was no good news.
“What are you all worried about? We don’t need to seal the Immortal King. His seal is extremely strong, located in an extremely secluded place, heavily guarded by the Church’s forces.” Samimi waved her hand and smiled.
“Not the Immortal King?” The keen-eyed Elf Kingdom Knight Commander asked with disbelief.
“Then why all the fuss? Get to the point. Are you hiding something, Samimi?” Kros, suspicious.
“The owner of this Spiritual Alien Space isn’t the Immortal King—it’s an ancient True Ancestor, a Blood Ghost Queen,” Samimi said matter-of-factly. “Legend has it…”
“Enough with the legends. Just give us the facts,” Kros interrupted.
“Fine. The Blood Ghost Queen is different from the Immortal King. She’s an ancient True Ancestor skilled in blood magic.”
“This Spiritual Alien Space was formed by her blood magic. She’s cunning, knows how to manipulate people’s hearts, uses illusions, and often lures people into her space to torment their minds with various methods. The more tortured the mind, the more blood magic power she can extract.”
“We’ve already fallen into her psychological trap. If we proceed further into the Twisted Forest, we’ll end up hanging from the trees, drained of blood. She won’t kill us outright; the methods are more cruel, but I won’t go into detail.”
“If our minds falter, we’ll see terrifying illusions, as the Blood Ghost Queen wants. She manipulates our senses to heighten fear.”
“Rather than fighting us head-on, she prefers sending impostors into our ranks to sabotage us or using demonic magic to burn down our supplies.”
“Think about it, if I hadn’t explained this to you, you’d already be in internal conflict, spirits shattered, killing each other. That’s exactly what the Blood Ghost Queen wants.”
Samimi began her long explanation again, but this was already the condensed version of her usual lengthy speeches.
Everything she said came straight from Kros.
“Indeed, without the Demon-Hunting Nun’s intelligence, we’d be doomed,” admitted Bitter Moon Crazy Dragon, acknowledging Samimi’s contribution.
“Having Miss Nun here lowers the pressure during battle. She helps ease our minds, keeping our spirits steady,” the Roadside Female Gunner said with relief.
