Seeing such a sweet(yin) and beauti(cunning) ful(treacherous) smile, Ina’s remaining goodwill toward this human girl was completely drained—as expected,
these humans, once they gain power, will recklessly bully elves. Humans are all a bunch of beings whose hearts, when their chests are cut open, reveal nothing but blackness!
The group of Dispatch Team elves, who had been chopped from elite soldiers into crippled remnants by Xingyao’s single sword strike, all revealed joyful smiles after that terrifying wave of heat passed.
Through their efforts and bonds, they had successfully withstood an attack from a powerful enemy! Not a single elf was injured, causing that human’s terrifying magic to come to nothing—
wasn’t that something to be proud of?
But before they could smile much longer, they saw the looks of utter despair on their companions’ faces. Following their gazes, the elves who had been relaxing a moment ago became extremely tense once again.
In their dark-green pupils was reflected the girl holding up blazing flames, giving off quite the Prometheus cosplay vibe.
Why? Why was that sword still burning continuously? Wasn’t this magic? Did the opponent need to pay no price for unleashing such magic? How was this possible?
This human girl didn’t look that old at all!
“What? Scared now?”
A hint of a seductive smile appeared on Xingyao’s pretty face as she gripped the sword formed entirely of dense Fire Attribute Magic Power with both hands, striking a pose as if to hit them once more.
But what those nervous, trembling weakling elves didn’t see was that beyond the glow of the flames, Xingyao shot a look toward Yishiyue and Yi Lin’s direction.
After all, this magic of hers was just to vent some frustration and establish her authority among these young elves, so they wouldn’t dare provoke the seemingly “domineering” her—
surely she couldn’t actually chop away half of the Elf Forest’s precious fighting force with her next swing, could she?
Of course, the simple-minded, naive elves wouldn’t think that far. In their eyes, this female demon had simply failed to take them down with her first strike and, in a fit of anger, wanted to try again—and they had no way left to resist such a move.
Ina was no exception in thinking this way.
She suddenly realized that her legs, which had gone weak and useless when she locked eyes with that blonde loli earlier, had somehow regained their feeling, and actually felt pretty good—good enough to jog a short distance.
She knew that the only one who could save their Dispatch Team was herself right now.
And she couldn’t use her magic to interrupt the opponent either. Setting aside the fact that the other party’s control over Elemental Magic far surpassed her own—being able to effortlessly wield such dense Fire Attribute Magic Power—this human girl was clearly quite cunning. She wouldn’t be foolish enough to attack her with magic.
Besides, that blonde loli who filled her with fear probably possessed who-knows-what abilities, and there was also Yishiyue of the same generation. She didn’t think launching a sneak attack would yield any good results.
“Miss Human! Please show mercy! We’ve already conceded! Whatever you want me to do afterward, I’ll—I’ll do anything!”
So how should she handle the situation at hand and help her companions escape mortal danger? Ina stepped forward, nearly startling Fumier into a stress response and casting some magic. Fortunately, she shook her head and raised her bound hands to signal she meant no harm.
Ina’s brain—not particularly sharp, but already standing out among the young elves—began to turn. Though the solution she thought of made her wear a humiliated expression, b-but this was for the sake of her companions’ lives…
“Oh? You’ll do anything?”
Xingyao turned her head in slight surprise, but didn’t dispel the magic in her hand—after all, her Starlight Magic could only constrain their form, not truly make them disappear.
The deliberately mistimed slash just now meant the Fire Attribute Magic Power consumed hadn’t been the amount she’d anticipated, which was exactly why she’d found herself in a bit of a bind.
Still, this Ina seemed somewhat interesting—at least smarter than her single-minded companions. Was this to be expected of a Moon Elf?
None of these thoughts showed on her face. Instead, she maintained her great female demon persona, her star-blue eyes unabashedly falling upon Ina, looking her up and down.
“Captain! We won’t concede!”
“Captain Ina, don’t do this for us…”
“I won’t allow Captain Ina to sell herself out!”
Say what you will, but the single-minded elves were still quite loyal. Those raised in the Elf Forest were indeed different from those who’d spent time in human society.
And precisely because of that, Xingyao couldn’t bring herself to kill these guys. They were foolish, naive, and their malice came from being led astray and filling in the blanks with their own imagination—not genuine enmity.
Xingyao licked her lips, making Ina shrink her neck in fright, yet she still didn’t take a single step back.
“That’s right! As long as you let them go, I’m willing to do whatever you want!”
Ina bit her lip, meeting the other’s gaze without flinching—but her heart was nowhere near as calm as her expression.
That Yishiyue and that blonde loli looked at this person with completely different eyes. She could reasonably suspect that this human girl might be the type her elders had mentioned—those who liked the same sex.
Falling into the hands of someone like that was probably only a little better than falling into the hands of lustful human males…
I’m sorry, Mom and Dad. Your daughter probably won’t be coming home…
“That’s actually a good proposal.”
Xingyao held the sword in one hand while stroking her chin with the other, feigning deep thought.
Seeing this, Yishiyue—who had long since figured out Xingyao’s intentions—hurriedly stepped back half a pace and hid behind Yi Lin, so no one could see her doubled over laughing uncontrollably. Yi Lin looked at her granddaughter, then at Xingyao whose performative personality was in full swing, and shook her head, not knowing what to say to either of them.
Still, Xingyao had a point—constant retreat would only lead to losing more. It was time to show the Elf Forest their edge.
“But if I take care of all of them, aren’t you still mine? Why should I agree to your request?”
Xingyao snapped her fingers, narrowing her eyes like a predator staring at its prey as she looked at the group of elves not far away. Her cutting words made the elves and Ina wear expressions of complete despair.
She was right—Ina had no bargaining chips left.
“If—if you let them go, I’ll serve you wholeheartedly! But if you kill them… I’ll fight you to the death!”
But that didn’t mean she wouldn’t make one last attempt. Ina gritted her teeth, and her stubborn demeanor drew a silent sigh of admiration from Xingyao.
What a good girl, truly. It’s just a pity she’s not too bright.
