Chapter 16 : Ice-Type Esper, the Mysterious Girl!

As the girl finished speaking—A faint blue glow lit up in her eyes!

Li Yiming suddenly felt a bone-chilling cold surge from the soles of his feet straight into his chest!

The pursuing Lickers were instantly coated in a thin layer of frost.

With ice clinging to their bodies, the speed of the Lickers’ chase noticeably slowed!

They roared in frustration, still attempting to charge forward through the cold.

But in the very next second—The girl let out a sharp shout, and a blinding light burst from her palm!

The five Lickers that had caught up to them were rapidly freezing over, frost spreading thicker by the second.

And then, unbelievably, they were frozen into five solid ice sculptures!

Li Yiming stared at the scene before him in shock.

This girl… she was an esper!

And not just any esper—an ice-type esper, which was considered quite rare!

Clutching his wound, Li Yiming looked at the girl with a mixture of awe and disbelief.

Her facial features were flawless, and her cold, night-like eyes shimmered with a pale blue glow.

Her snowy-white face was expressionless, and her whole appearance gave off the aura of a midwinter storm.

A true ice-cold beauty.

Faced with such a cold and stunning beauty, Li Yiming couldn’t help but feel puzzled.

With that, she picked up the pace, and Li Yiming had no choice but to stumble along with her.

Each step jolted his wounds, tearing at the flesh and sending waves of agony through his body.

Thankfully, the girl hadn’t lied.

After just a few more steps and rounding a corner— They arrived in front of a heavy metal door.

A red sign hung above it, boldly labeled: Radiology Department.

Reaching the door, the girl pulled out her hospital ID from the pocket of her lab coat and pressed it against the scanner by the door.

Beep.

The scanner lit up green, and the thick metal door began to slowly open.

As they anxiously waited for the door to open— Behind them, the Lickers finally broke free from their icy prison.

“ROAR!”

The first Licker to break free from its icy prison let out a furious howl at Li Yiming!

It dropped to all fours and charged straight toward the two of them waiting in front of the metal door!

Fortunately—Before the Licker could reach them, the girl had already pulled Li Yiming inside.

Amid the creature’s enraged roar, the heavy metal door began to slowly close under the girl’s command.

Even after it shut, pounding thuds echoed from the other side!

Clearly, the Licker hadn’t given up.

“I say… this door can hold them off, right?”

Li Yiming asked, cold sweat trickling down his face as the banging continued.

“Of course. This is a reinforced quarantine door—specifically designed to withstand bio-weapons. You’ve got nothing to worry about.”

The girl replied with confidence.

Hearing that, the heavy weight in Li Yiming’s heart finally lifted.

“That’s… good… that’s good…”

He mumbled weakly, his voice fading.

As he spoke, his body began to slump toward the floor.

“Hey, hey, hey—don’t pass out! Stay with me!”

The girl called out, trying to catch him.

But her petite frame couldn’t support Li Yiming’s full weight.

With a loud thud, the two of them crashed to the floor together.

Li Yiming hit the cold, hard ground, while the girl ended up falling into the warmth of his arms.

“Ah… so tired…”

Li Yiming muttered, his dull eyes staring up at the ceiling, his eyelids growing heavier and heavier.

“Hey! Don’t fall asleep!”

In the final second before he blacked out, he saw the girl’s anxious face hovering over him.
