Chapter 16: Becoming a cat

Apartment.  

After leaving the Café, Lu Weizhu cashed the Check that Bai Lu had given her, then headed to the house she planned to rent.

She inspected it carefully, looking over everything again and again. 

The two-bedroom, one Living Room place wasn’t particularly large, but for her, it was more than enough.

There wasn’t much furniture, but the owner had left her an air conditioner and a range hood. 

The rest she’d have to buy herself.

Lu Weizhu was reasonably satisfied. 

After haggling with the owner, she managed to rent it for a thousand yuan, signing a one-year Contract.

After paying the Deposit, Lu Weizhu hurried off—she still remembered what Bai Lu had told her yesterday. 

She needed to go find Bai Lu.

“Hoo…One year…The money I’ve saved up over the past year should just about be enough.”

Back on the street, Lu Weizhu walked while calculating things in her mind.

“When the Contract ends, I’ll take Wei Yu and leave this place.”

The corners of Lu Weizhu’s lips lifted. 

With something to look forward to, her spirits improved a lot.

“Mm, if I order furniture tonight, it’ll probably arrive the day after tomorrow. The place is on the third floor, so it’ll be a bit of a hassle.”

She glanced at her own palm. 

With her injured hand, she doubted she’d be able to move the furniture herself.

I’ll have to find someone to help.

“Once I’ve bought all the furniture, I’ll be able to cook porridge and make soup for Wei Yu. I can even invite Yun Jie over for a meal.”

With her own little plans in mind, she walked slowly. 

By the time the sun set behind the western hills and the clock pointed to seven-thirty, she arrived at the Apartment Building where she used to have secret meetings with Bai Lu.

Not long ago, she’d been humiliated and driven away by Ning Wan in the Underground Garage here, reduced to being Ning Wan’s plaything.

To be honest, Lu Weizhu had some psychological shadows about this place. 

She’d never expected that one day, she’d come back here.

Entering the Apartment Building, Lu Weizhu took the Elevator.

“Looking on the bright side, at least Bai Lu is relatively normal, right?”

Lu Weizhu recalled her recent interactions.

Bai Lu simply craved her body, nothing more. 

As for Ning Wan…that bastard delighted in degrading both body and dignity.

Compared to Ning Wan, she probably wouldn’t suffer as much with Bai Lu.

“…”

Before long, the Elevator reached the designated floor, and Lu Weizhu stepped out.

She walked down the somewhat long corridor and stopped in front of a familiar door.

Silently, she knocked, unsure how to address Bai Lu.

Calling her President or President Bai felt odd; just calling her Bai Lu seemed too disrespectful.

Lu Weizhu was always like this, hesitant and cautious.

Standing at the door, she waited nervously for a while until the door opened.

“Mm, you’re here. Earlier than I expected. I thought you’d be late because you were scared.”

Bai Lu was wearing a loose, cream-colored bathrobe. 

Under the loose robe, her skin looked milky white.

Her long hair was tied up, still damp. 

Standing in front of Bai Lu, Lu Weizhu could smell a strong lavender scent—probably from the shower gel.

Becoming even more reserved, Lu Weizhu stood up straight.

“Come in.”

Bai Lu stepped aside to let her enter.

In fact, she wasn’t feeling much better herself—there was a bit of guilt in her heart. 

If Ning Wan found out about this, she’d be in big trouble, wouldn’t she?

Even if it wouldn’t cause a rift between them, punishment would be inevitable.

“Okay.”

Lu Weizhu nodded and slowly shuffled into the room.

The Apartment’s furnishings hadn’t changed much. 

Lu Weizhu noticed a plate of Fish Biscuit on the coffee table.

She sat down on the sofa, and after a moment, Bai Lu came over and sat beside her.

“De…?”

The atmosphere was a little awkward, and Lu Weizhu’s body stiffened.

“Have you had dinner yet?” she asked, recalling memories from not long ago. 

Showing a little concern would make Bai Lu happy.

“Not yet.”

Bai Lu shook her head.

She took out a nail clipper and began carefully trimming her nails.

Her fingers were long and smooth, her nails a light pink under the lamp—very pretty.

Lu Weizhu clenched her thigh.

In silence, Bai Lu trimmed her nails while thinking about the different Lu Weizhu she’d seen a few days ago.

She pressed her lips together. 

As a wealthy President, it was rare for her to show such girlish affectation.

After putting away the nail clipper, Bai Lu took out a Cat Ear Hair Clip from under the coffee table—it was white, which matched Lu Weizhu’s white hair even better.

She put the hair clip on Lu Weizhu.

“……”

Taking a deep breath, Bai Lu gazed at the face that resembled her childhood friend by eighty percent, though it was much softer. 

Her breathing grew heavier.

“…President Bai?”

Lu Weizhu grew even more embarrassed, unable to bring the enthusiasm she’d shown at the Café to this place.

After all, a patron and an ordinary customer were fundamentally different.

“Shh, don’t talk. Just be good and listen.”

Bai Lu made a shushing gesture.

Unlike her appearance, Lu Weizhu’s voice was very different from Ning Wan’s.

“….”

Lu Weizhu nodded.

Bai Lu said nothing more. 

She moved closer and pulled Lu Weizhu into her arms.

So light, so thin, not much flesh on her, but the feel was still nice. 

Bai Lu gently stroked the Cat Ears on top of the girl’s head.

The fake ears, being part of the hair clip, naturally didn’t feel uncomfortable, but because the Cat Ears were attached to the clip, Bai Lu’s movements made Lu Weizhu’s scalp itch a bit.

Lu Weizhu shifted a little.

They were so close that she could feel Bai Lu’s body heat.

“Good kitty, good kitty.”

Bai Lu gently stroked the Cat Ears and Lu Weizhu’s hair, as if she really was treating her like a cat.

Lu Weizhu chose to obey Bai Lu and kept quiet.

After petting her for a while, Bai Lu took out a Bell from under the coffee table.

The Bell, tied with a red string, was finally hung around Lu Weizhu’s neck—its red color stood out vividly against her white.

Bai Lu turned Lu Weizhu to face her, and picking up a Fish Biscuit from the plate, she said, “Open your mouth.”

She fed the Fish Biscuit to Lu Weizhu..~fogoTM , After a moment’s hesitation, Lu Weizhu still complied.

She had no room to resist.

Bai Lu pressed the biscuit into the girl’s mouth. 

Lu Weizhu’s throat moved slightly as she swallowed the biscuit. 

Watching the girl’s body sway gently and listening to the crisp sound of the Bell, Bai Lu’s eyes darkened.

She thought, if only this obedient little kitty in front of her were her childhood friend.

From Bai Lu’s beautiful black eyes, Lu Weizhu saw the shadow of another person. 

She closed her eyes.

“Such a good girl.”

Withdrawing her finger, Bai Lu held Lu Weizhu’s hand, interlacing their fingers. 

She noticed the scabbed blood on the girl’s palm, and her cheerful mood paused for a moment.

This was probably revenge taken by Ning Wan on the girl before her.

She didn’t know what to say—after all, she wasn’t exactly innocent herself.

Bai Lu led Lu Weizhu back to the bedroom.

“Come see me next Monday. Take these; you were very obedient tonight, and I’m very pleased.”

When everything was over, Bai Lu stuffed a stack of Cash into Lu Weizhu’s hands.

She had no intention of keeping Lu Weizhu overnight.

“Ah…okay.”

Stunned for a moment, Lu Weizhu took the money and left.

After playing the cat all night, her mood was far from pleasant.

When she reached the bottom of the Apartment Building, Lu Weizhu let out a sigh.

The time she spent with Bai Lu wasn’t exactly unbearable, but it certainly wasn’t comfortable either—there was always some torment involved.

Especially the shadow of Ning Wan in Bai Lu’s eyes, which again and again reminded Lu Weizhu of her own worthlessness.

“If only I really were a cat.”

Carefree, even if something went wrong, she’d just die quickly. 

She wouldn’t have to suffer like a human, weighed down by so many attachments.
