As everyone knows, people who say things like that usually have tremendous strength—like being able to lift a little monster single-handedly and throw it hundreds of meters away.
But Taya didn’t look like a girl who couldn’t even truss up a chicken.
Dragons, after all, couldn’t possibly be weak, could they?
Luo Shuangyue felt Taya was just being modest.
If it really came to a fight, this young lady definitely wouldn’t be weak.
“Isn’t it dangerous to just ignore those monsters?”
That was the question Luo Shuangyue and Xia Mo were most concerned about right now.
In the Human World, you definitely couldn’t just leave Demons alone—at the very least, if one appeared in a city, it had to be dealt with.
But if a Demon happened to be born in some remote, uninhabited mountains or forests, then the Magic Department wouldn’t rush to deal with it.
Demons were ferocious, with a powerful urge to destroy, but letting them stay in uninhabited areas for ten days or half a month usually wouldn’t be a big problem.
After all, Demons would kill each other, devouring one another to grow stronger.
That was also why the Magic Department had to periodically sweep through and clear out those Demons.
This world didn’t have a powerful organization like the Magic Department.
If they ignored the Demons, wouldn’t they end up raising some terrifying creature like a venomous Gu?
Just like that Super Demon Emperor Luo Shuangyue and the others dealt with before—the Demon Emperor was the strongest enemy humanity had ever faced.
If Luo Shuangyue hadn’t piloted White Night and fought it head-on, the outcome for both sides would have been mutual destruction.
So many Full Bloom-Class Magical Girls were lost in that battle.
For humanity, that was a devastating blow.
If that’s how humanity fared, this world seemed even worse off than the Human World. Could they really win if they ran into a Demon Emperor like that?
“I don’t know. The monsters near the Sanctuary are cleared out by the Warriors of the Sanctuary. As for monsters elsewhere… the Holy Sovereign said even she is powerless,” Taya shook her head.
All the sentient life forms that could understand human speech in this world had already gone to the Sanctuary, and the Sanctuary’s power could only protect that limited area.
Expanding their territory and launching counterattacks against the monsters was out of the question.
“There were some really powerful monsters that attacked us before, but the Holy Sovereign is very strong—she defeated them easily.”
A look of worship appeared on Taya’s face, much like what Xia Mo showed whenever she thought about White Night.
“So in the end, we really have to find a way to reach the Sanctuary…” Luo Shuangyue scratched her head.
If they could reach the Sanctuary, most of their problems could be solved in one stroke.
But how could they get there?
It wasn’t easy.
The three of them kept walking through the Sea of Flowers when suddenly, Taya pointed into the distance and shouted, “There’s something over there!” A tiny black dot appeared in the purple ocean, and when Luo Shuangyue focused her gaze, she saw it was actually a small house.
“A house?”
“What’s a house?” Taya’s reaction left Luo Shuangyue at a bit of a loss.
This girl doesn’t even know what a house is?
Are the people in this world still living in the Stone Age?
After putting in some effort to explain what a house was to Taya, Luo Shuangyue finally saw her display a look of sudden understanding and felt a little exhausted inside.
Once that tiredness faded, a trace of caution welled up in her heart.
If Taya didn’t know what a house was, it meant such buildings were rare in this world.
So why, in the midst of a Black Calamity in the Sea of Flowers, would there be a building like this?
It didn’t make sense. Not at all.
Could it be that the master of the Sea of Flowers was still here?
“Should we go check it out?” Xia Mo also sensed something was wrong.
She had already summoned her magic stone, ready to respond to any sudden attack.
“Let’s take a look. If there really was an enemy in there, they’d have noticed us by now.”
After all, they spotted this house with their eyes, but in this world, there were far more effective means of detection.
If there was a bad guy inside, Luo Shuangyue figured their trio would never escape that person’s notice.
As they drew closer, the details of the little house became clearer. At first glance, it actually resembled human architecture.
If she didn’t know this was another world, Luo Shuangyue would have suspected she’d traveled back home.
“Even though the house is built with pretty rough techniques, it’s undoubtedly our architectural style…” Standing at the door, Luo Shuangyue looked at the half-open entrance with a peculiar expression.
This little house was clearly designed for humanoid beings. Even the door was just the right size for a human.
But the building materials weren’t the rebar and concrete Luo Shuangyue was familiar with, but… “Flesh and blood. Demon flesh and blood.”
She reached out and pressed her hand gently against the wall, speaking in a low voice.
This house was alive, or at least, it once had been.
It was made from the flesh and blood of Demons.
Even now, you could feel its subtle elasticity.
“But it’s already dead. Maybe its master abandoned it, or maybe the master is dead as well.” The house showed no signs of life—the Demon flesh was nothing more than a shell, with almost all the demonic energy gone.
“So… it’s not dangerous?” Xia Mo looked at the house with obvious discomfort.
Just knowing the place was made of Demon flesh made her uneasy.
There wasn’t any danger—they’d made it all the way here without being attacked.
That alone was proof the place was abandoned.
But it was the terrifying implications that worried Luo Shuangyue most.
“Xia Mo, can you believe a Demon would build itself a house?”
Yes, that was the real crux of the matter.
A house built in an uninhabited sea of flowers wasn’t much of an issue, but a house made out of Demon flesh and blood—that was a huge problem.
Just who had the power to build a house with Demon flesh? Who would dare live in a place like this?
“The simplest explanation is that the Demon built it itself, using its own body as materials.” Luo Shuangyue pointed at the house, her voice low.
“I’d rather believe a more complicated story—like some powerful lunatic beat a Demon half to death, took its flesh and blood, and lived here for a while.” She couldn’t help but force a bitter smile as she spoke.
That theory was a little too far-fetched, even for her.
So, “I’m more inclined to believe the first one. And you know what that means, Xia Mo, right?” A Demon smart enough to build itself a house—that was incredibly rare.
A Demon with that level of intelligence would be called a Demon Emperor back home; only the most powerful Soul Butterfly-class Demons could enjoy such luxury.
The lesser Demons wouldn’t even come close to qualifying!
“Let’s go in and take a look. Maybe it just looks neat on the outside and is a mess inside.” Luo Shuangyue pushed open the door, ready for a foul smell.
But after taking a deep breath and analyzing the air, she realized the inside didn’t have any of the nasty odors she’d expected.
On the contrary, there was even a faint fragrance?
This Demon sure knew how to live.
Entering the hollowed-out shell of a house, Luo Shuangyue saw an ordinary interior.
Aside from the fact that nearly everything—furniture, walls—was black, it was much like any house from the Human World.
The little house even had neatly divided rooms: kitchen, dining room, bedroom, and even a bathroom.
Did Demons really need a bathroom?
“There’s a vase here, but the flowers are all rotten.” Xia Mo looked toward a small vase in the living room, where a few decayed flower stems still remained.
Could a Demon who once lived here really be called a Demon?
She even knew to pick flowers from the Sea of Flowers and arrange them for viewing, while Phantom Scythe, another Demon Emperor, would’ve just thought those were edible.
When it came to the pursuit of beauty, the difference couldn’t be starker.
And Phantom Scythe was the more “normal” Demon Emperor!
Before being purified of their innate brutality, wasn’t that how Demon Emperors should be?
To build a little house with her own flesh in a beautiful sea of flowers and live a quiet life here—it was so different from Luo Shuangyue’s image of Demons.
That sense of disharmony reached its peak when she entered the bedroom.
Staring at the single bed and wardrobe, Luo Shuangyue was completely lost as to whether the inhabitant had been a Demon or a human.
She opened the wardrobe and found a few dresses left behind.
They were a little small for Luo Shuangyue and Xia Mo but would fit a slightly younger girl just right.
Taking out one of the dresses, Luo Shuangyue tried hard to tear it apart, but no matter how much force she used, she couldn’t destroy the obviously unusual garment.
Maybe it was because they’d been neglected for too long.
These dresses looked strange, with a pitch-black color and intricate veins—they didn’t look like clothing but like the hide of some creature.
Of course, they felt the same when you tried to tear them; just as tough as Demon skin.
Luo Shuangyue didn’t stand a chance at ripping one apart.
“There are blankets and a mattress here, too. Same material as the clothes—and the house itself,” Xia Mo said, walking over to the single bed and gently touching the items on it.
Inside the little house, Xia Mo felt an ever-present disgust.
It was as if she’d been swallowed by a Demon and was surrounded by its nasty stench.
Magical Girls and Demons were born incompatible, and this was exactly that.
The house was entirely made from Demon flesh and blood—it was, in essence, a part of the Demon.
Entering here was like stepping inside a Demon’s belly.
Even if the place was abandoned and the flesh had lost all vitality, the residual scent lingered.
“Xia Mo, what kind of being do you think the master of this little house was?” Unlike Xia Mo, who was repulsed, Luo Shuangyue actually felt a faint sense of kinship here.
It was similar to the feeling of meeting a kindred spirit—not strong, but undeniably there.
She rummaged through the rest of the wardrobe and actually found things a Demon would have no need for.
Holding a bra in one hand and a sock in the other, Luo Shuangyue’s expression was extremely complicated.
Whoever built this house was definitely a person—of that she was certain.
Even if it was a Demon, it was one whose heart belonged to the human side, just like her.
Maybe even a cute little girl? The clothes in here certainly weren’t meant for some inhuman creature—Taya, for example, definitely couldn’t wear them.
“A Demon… a Demon who thinks of herself as a human…” Luo Shuangyue rubbed her forehead with her finger.
Even though she’d lost the ability to feel pain, this was her way of expressing her frustration.
Demons in this world seemed to be very different from what she’d imagined.
“Taya, can I ask you something? What do you mean by ‘monsters’ in your world?”
At Luo Shuangyue’s question, Taya naturally pointed to the two girls in front of her and replied in an obvious tone, “They look a lot like you, but their color’s different.”
“They’re pitch-black, with bodies made of soft, gooey black mud. When our magic hits them, they’ll…”
Taya poured out all the information she knew about Demons.
From her account, the only difference between the Demons in this world and those in the Human World was their appearance.
In every other way, they were the same.
They’d go berserk and attack anything nearby, could only be harmed or killed by magic, and even left behind the same kind of core magic power.
Other than how they looked, Demons in both worlds were practically identical.
“Shuangyue, there’s a notebook here!” While Luo Shuangyue was talking to Taya, Xia Mo rummaged through a small desk in the room and actually found a little notebook.
Naturally, the notebook was also made from Demon flesh.
After it lost its vitality, almost nothing written inside could be read anymore.
Taking the notebook Xia Mo handed her, Luo Shuangyue flipped through a couple of pages.
All she could see were faint purple marks.
She brought the notebook close to her nose and sniffed carefully, picking up a scent very much like the flowers outside.
Maybe the Demon used ink made from the Sea of Flowers?
“There aren’t any words, just meaningless scribbles.” Luo Shuangyue spent a long time trying to make sense of the marks but didn’t find anything she recognized.
Not a single familiar character appeared—just broken, jumbled doodles.
It was so ruined, she couldn’t tell what any of it meant. Xia Mo and Taya couldn’t help, either.
“But she can draw—that’s quite the discovery, right?”
