“You’re Shen Ruqing, right?”
Once the dust settled, the leader of the Student Union came over to Shen Ruqing.
The latter shot her a sidelong glance and said flatly, “I’m not interested in joining the Student Union.”
The girl’s hand, which was holding out a business card, froze instantly. She stared at Shen Ruqing in surprise.
She had indeed been planning to invite Shen Ruqing to join the Student Union, but had she been that obvious?
Her purpose had been seen through before she even said it. ‘She really is terrifying.’
Still, she didn’t give up. Steeling herself, she pushed the card forward. “I’m the Vice President of the Student Union. You could think about it.”
“Not interested.” Shen Ruqing pushed the hand holding out the card back, then pulled Ning Chuxue beside her and walked around them to leave.
“Hey!” The girl tried to block her again, but Shen Ruqing sidestepped nimbly and left without looking back.
Watching Shen Ruqing walk away, the girl panicked. “My name is Lin Wan! At least remember that. If you ever change your mind, you can find me at the Student Union!”
As soon as Lin Wan finished saying that, Shen Ruqing and Ning Chuxue disappeared through the door.
“…”
The room fell silent in an instant—though that “silence” didn’t include Qian Sheng, who was still yelling “Let me go!” from the side.
“Lin Wan, why are you so set on dragging that Shen Ruqing into the Student Union? Even if we’re short-handed…”
A girl about 1.6 meters tall walked over to Lin Wan and asked, puzzled.
“Oh, my dear Accountant, you… don’t know… every member of the Student Union has to do the work of five people. I really can’t find anyone…”
Upon seeing who it was, Lin Wan’s reliable expression instantly fell, and teardrops as big as beans rolled down her cheeks. She pitifully grabbed the girl’s sleeve and blew her nose.
The latter pushed her hand away in disgust, took off her own jacket, and draped it over Lin Wan. “The higher-ups care about appearances and insist on complicating simple things—we all get that. But couldn’t you just delegate and share the power?”
Her idea was simple: everyone knew the Student Union’s workload was heavy, but couldn’t they just return some of the President’s authority to the school?
Things like dormitory assignments, utility bill management, transfer and enrollment integration…
Remove all the miscellaneous tasks from the school’s core affairs, and basically the Student Union managed everything.
Handing those unnecessary management items back to the school administration would lighten the Student Union’s workload.
After hearing her suggestion, Lin Wan changed her attitude completely and said sternly, “No way. I fought hard to get all those powers. With all these scattered bits of authority, sooner or later I’ll be able to pull down the President.”
“If the President hears that last sentence, you’re dead.”
“Who’s afraid of who? I’ll just beat him up!” Lin Wan patted her chest as if she truly feared nothing.
But a moment later, she leaned in and said to the girl beside her, “Xiao Luo, keep what I just said a secret for me.”
“Aren’t you just afraid the President will find out?” The girl she called Xiao Luo wore an expression that said ‘I knew it.’
“It’s different, okay? I’m just hiding intel!” After saying that, she turned around and glared at the other members gathered around Qian Sheng.
Everyone immediately stood at attention and said in unison, “We promise not to spread it!”
Lin Wan nodded in satisfaction, having no idea that three days later, the news that she wanted to oust the Student Union President would spread across the entire campus.
And she herself would be personally assigned by the President to handle all the accumulated backlog.
But that’s a story for later.
“So you still haven’t told me why you’re so set on Shen Ruqing. As far as I know, this is your first encounter.”
Xiao Luo paused, pulled a tablet out of her bag, swiped a few times, and then placed the screen in front of Lin Wan. On it was Shen Ruqing’s personal file. “And this person’s file shows nothing special.”
Lin Wan took the tablet and stuffed it back into Xiao Luo’s bag. “Files miss plenty of things. Given how Shen Ruqing acted just now, like everything was under control, you don’t seriously think she’s as mediocre as the file says, do you?”
“But the file says…”
“Oh, Xiao Luo, stop with the ‘file, file, file.’ I have a feeling Shen Ruqing isn’t ordinary. Maybe she’s that mysterious number one who’s been anonymous all year.”
“I think that’s unlikely…” She started to object, but then saw Lin Wan’s determined expression, so she changed her tune. “Do whatever you think is best.”
With that, their conversation ended. Lin Wan led her people out of Director Zhang’s office.
Ying, standing by the wall, had felt like an outsider the whole time—even though this was her territory.
“Damn, that was a big scene. Who exactly is Ning Chuxue?” Ying couldn’t help but mutter, while simultaneously dialing Director Zhang’s number and reporting everything in detail.

“Professor Qian, is there anything else you’d like to say now?”
Mu Wannuo pressed the remote, and the image projected on the white wall disappeared.
The atmosphere in the room instantly turned icy. A group of people whispered among themselves.
Looking around, Mu Wannuo was the youngest person in the room—by far.
The conference table was made from a polished redwood log.
It was about four meters long and two meters wide.
Around the table were empty seats. Mu Wannuo’s seat was slightly forward of center.
“Hah, just a video. These days, videos are faked all the time. How can you be sure my son would do something like that?”
At the far end of the table, a man on the verge of old age stood up.
His expression was no longer the calm he had when he first arrived. Now, his furious look, combined with his title of Associate Professor, was especially absurd.
Mu Wannuo was prepared. She operated the device in front of her, and four photos were projected onto the wall.
Those four photos were exactly the ones Shen Ruqing had sent her earlier.
“Watermark photos, taken by the Student Union’s self-developed watermark camera. Are you still going to question the Student Union, Professor Qian?”
“You…!” Qian Yuan was furious. He never expected his son to be so reckless and leave no loose ends.
“I’ll quote the photographer here: four photos mean a death sentence. But since we live in a law-based society, there’s one more.”
Five photos, not four.
According to Shen Ruqing’s reasoning, if they had beaten Qian Sheng to death, she would send four.
If he wasn’t dead and was taken away by the Student Union, she would send five.
Mu Wannuo couldn’t understand Shen Ruqing’s logic, but she obediently followed the lines Shen Ruqing had given her in advance.
The fifth photo showed the moment Qian Sheng’s attack was thwarted and he was stopped by the Student Union.
Mu Wannuo spoke again. “If Professor Qian doesn’t trust the Student Union’s watermark, then how do you explain this photo? I don’t have the free time to stage a play with the Student Union.”
The Student Union had a lot of power. If anyone fabricated something related to the Student Union, the consequences would be severe.
This photo was undoubtedly definitive evidence of Qian Sheng’s attempted murder.
The room buzzed with discussion again. Qian Yuan’s face turned ashen as he slumped back into his chair.
“It’s over. All over…”
He had only gotten his Associate Professor position by luck. He couldn’t bear the consequences of being a guarantor for such a serious offense.
Yes, his son had been admitted to the Noble Academy with Qian Yuan himself as the guarantor.
As mentioned earlier, as long as someone vouched for them, every professor could get one slot to admit a person without a criminal record.
He also didn’t believe Mu Wannuo would dare joke about the Student Union. Now the evidence was ironclad.
Mu Wannuo sorted her documents and stuffed them into her bag.
“I think everyone here knows how to handle this without me saying too much.”
Leaving that sentence behind, Mu Wannuo walked out of the meeting room without looking back.
