The silver-haired girl’s flying skills couldn’t match Greenfield’s no matter what.
It was only by coming up with a clever trick on the fly that she managed to throw Greenfield off.
The sudden deceleration caught Greenfield off guard, and when they brushed past each other, the distance between them was barely two meters—as if they could smell each other’s scent.
In that moment, their eyes met in the night sky, and through their gaze, they understood each other’s thoughts.
One of them was nervous and afraid, mixed with a sense of annoyance, and, perhaps, an almost imperceptible numbness and contradictory anticipation. Eyes truly are mysterious things.
The other’s eyes were bloodshot, brimming with undisguised, frenzied excitement—ten times crazier than a mask-wearing guy showing off his new car.
Greenfield quickly wiped the blood from her nose and decelerated in the air, turning in a small arc.
She didn’t pull an aerial emergency stop like the silver-haired girl did—that would put too much strain on the body. With a few Gs of force, she could black out in an instant.
After finishing the turn, she resumed the chase, ramping her speed back up to 400 km/h in no time.
At this point, the silver-haired girl was pushing her speed up to about 220 km/h, with her wind barrier up again, and still accelerating. If she could hold on for five more seconds, she’d be able to shake Greenfield off.
Of course, Greenfield wouldn’t give her the chance. In just two seconds, she closed the gap to 40 meters.
Her whip lashed out again—the first strike, as expected, was a feint, and the silver-haired girl dodged it skillfully.
As the whip arced around for a second strike, the silver-haired girl abruptly changed her flight trajectory, forcing her body to bear the immense strain.
The whip’s second strike also missed. For the first time, the silver-haired girl had completely evaded Greenfield’s change-up attack.
But in the next second, Greenfield deliberately crashed into her.
To be precise, it wasn’t exactly a crash—she grabbed the girl’s waist midair, held on, and forced both of them into a dive.
The silver-haired girl tried to accelerate to break free, but couldn’t withstand Greenfield’s overwhelming strength, and the two of them crashed to the ground together.
They tumbled from the middle of the road into a small park, coming to a stop only after snapping two trees.
Greenfield activated her magic shield to ward off the series of injuries. Using up her precious shield here made it clear she intended to end the fight.
The silver-haired girl’s magic shield was still holding strong, looking completely intact on the outside.
Greenfield’s magic shield, however, had already broken.
That’s the normal strength of a magical girl’s shield—falling at 400 km/h would shatter it. Most magical girl shields are about this strong.
The silver-haired girl’s shield was the real outlier.
Greenfield suffered a few scrapes and got up slowly.
The silver-haired girl, shielded the whole time, was unharmed and rose quickly.
Surprisingly, the silver-haired girl didn’t run away.
She’d figured out she couldn’t escape just yet.
Her acceleration couldn’t match Greenfield’s, and before she could reach 400 km/h, she’d just get caught again.
So, she switched from defense to offense, charging straight at Greenfield. Before Greenfield could swing her whip, the girl pounced, trying to knock Greenfield back to the ground.
A nice idea in theory, but because she was too light, her tackle ended up more like throwing herself into Greenfield’s arms—not only failing to knock her down, but ending up hanging off her shoulder.
Both of them were stunned for a moment.
The silver-haired girl hadn’t expected her body slam to only make Greenfield stumble a couple steps before regaining balance.
Greenfield hadn’t expected the girl to be so light, her body as thin as paper.
“What are you doing?” Greenfield’s head was full of question marks.
“Catching you!” The silver-haired girl mimicked her words.
She sprang into action, wrapping her legs deftly around Greenfield’s waist and locking her arms around Greenfield’s left arm, executing a Kimura Lock she’d learned online, trying to subdue Greenfield with a hold.
“Gotcha!” The silver-haired girl hadn’t expected her first attempt at a Kimura Lock, learned from online tutorials, to work so smoothly.
“Huh? That’s it?” Greenfield almost burst out laughing.
She’d pulled off the Kimura Lock, but there was a problem—the silver-haired girl was still being held, not even on the ground.
On top of that, her strength wasn’t enough, making the lock pretty weak.
Failing to break Greenfield’s arm, she was instead spun in circles by Greenfield and shaken off using centrifugal force.
Greenfield even slammed her down hard, freeing her own left hand in the process.
Seeing her Kimura Lock fail, the silver-haired girl twisted her supple body and changed tactics midair, shifting into a flying Cross Armlock.
“Watch this move!” The silver-haired girl was nothing if not imaginative.
“Oh, what flexibility—you’re giving me ideas on how to play with you.” Greenfield grew even more excited, as if she wasn’t the least bit afraid of the Cross Armlock.
But the same problem remained—the silver-haired girl’s weight wasn’t enough to pin Greenfield down, nor was her strength sufficient to restrain her.
Greenfield simply took off, somersaulted in the air, and deliberately crashed to the ground, slamming the silver-haired girl down hard again.
No real harm done, since the magic shield protected her.
It was Greenfield who ended up with a few scrapes.
After two failed submission attempts, the silver-haired girl realized the gap in their physical abilities and close-combat skills.
Greenfield clearly had an abundance of experience in combat, recognizing every move the silver-haired girl used.
Those locks she’d just learned online had already been used on Greenfield by other magical girls.
Even the silver-haired girl’s magic was just a weaker version of techniques Greenfield had encountered before.
And the escape tricks the girl was so proud of—countless magical girls had tried those on Greenfield as well.
Greenfield was clearly toying with her prey, letting her bask in a brief moment of triumph before crushing it.
Seeing the silver-haired girl’s stunned, defeated expression was a pleasure all its own.
There was a special satisfaction in watching a little gremlin get reversed.
So, Greenfield offered her another chance, deliberately hesitating for a second.
The silver-haired girl, sprawled on the ground, flashed a triumphant smile. Looking again, she had grabbed her staff, intentionally placing it on the ground.
Immediately, she manipulated her staff to fly horizontally—essentially a close-range sweep—catching Greenfield’s feet and finally knocking her to the ground with her weapon’s force.
The girl clearly had what she thought was a flawless plan in mind.
After knocking Greenfield down, she seized Greenfield’s whip, quickly wrapping it around Greenfield’s hands, binding them tightly.
She’d watched a lot of Art Films, but hadn’t learned any actual skills, so she didn’t know how to tie someone up properly.
The whip wound around Greenfield looked rather ugly and had no aesthetic appeal at all.
Afraid Greenfield would break free, the girl tied a few more rounds around her legs and put over a dozen tight knots in the whip.
“Come on, yell! Will you still yell?” The silver-haired girl finally felt like she could deliver her victory speech.
“So cute, I really want to make you cry!” Greenfield wasn’t the least bit flustered, even teasing her.
Her tone showed no sign of urgency at all, as if she didn’t care about being tied up in the slightest.
Just fuck1ng have MC use all the element trick they learned already, they are a 30 something old guy, you can’t say to me their brain is that dead already. There should be so many way for them to just use earth ‘mana’ to make the shield heavier and crush the other
