After the turbulent birthday banquet came to an end, a period of calm and steady days followed. Those who had accompanied Lu Yunze to the Su family main house had also adapted to life there.
As a professional “ox-horse” for an Ox-Horse Company in her previous life, Jiang Sui had long ago developed a glib tongue.
She quickly established good relationships with several servants at the main house. Befriending them served two purposes: first, it made it easier to gather information about the main house, and second, it provided her with cover whenever she wanted to slack off.
One thing was very clear: she had discovered a new world after that night of the birthday banquet. Afterward, Jiang Sui searched for some related information online.
She never expected there to be so much unknown knowledge regarding women in this world. For instance, a girlโs pleasure was supposedly ten times that of a manโs.
‘No wonder,’ she thought. ‘No wonder then.’
It was no surprise that she had nearly fainted from Lu Yunzeโs massage that night, and after accidentally drinking the wine containing the pink potion, she had succumbed almost instantly.
More importantly, while resolving the critical issue, Jiang Sui felt as if all her internal anxieties were being smoothed out. No wonder so many women became addicted to such things.
However, Jiang Sui felt she was different from them. She felt that doing this too often would lead to losing herself, which would then affect her judgment on key matters.
‘Just this once. This will never happen again in the future.’
Well, probably.
Rather than being alone, Jiang Sui preferred to tease Lu Yunze every day. If she didn’t go for a single day, her whole body felt uncomfortable. When she felt uncomfortable, she couldn’t help but want to explore “fresh minerals.” It had almost become part of her daily routine.
As for her reasoning, she had prepared plenty of excuses. To herself, it was part of the plan to increase Lu Yunzeโs favorability.
Externally, it was because the pressure of being a maid was simply too great. She had to handle many things every day and often had to live according to other peopleโs whims; accumulated stress always needed a perfect vent.
As for Lu Yunze himself, she felt he actually enjoyed it. Who wouldn’t like a beautiful and cute little maid coming to tease them every day?
‘Lu Yunze must think so,’ she thought. ‘Yes, definitely.’
That day, after finishing lunch, Lu Yunze returned to his bedroom. Just as he closed the door, he suddenly scanned his surroundings. Like a swift agent, he searched every corner of the roomโunder the bed, the wardrobe, the ceiling, and even the space behind the curtains.
After checking everything once, Lu Yunze finally relaxed.
“It looks like she isn’t hiding in my room today.”
The door was locked, too. He should be able to spend a peaceful afternoon today. Thinking this, Lu Yunze sat in front of his computer, turned on the tower, put on his headphones, and prepared to enjoy an afternoon of gaming.
“The government sent two more teams to Xiaolin City. If Iโd known, I would have gone with them.” Lu Yunzeโs eyes fixed on the screen.
‘I have a bad feeling about this.’
“Young Master, thereโs a flash sale recommendation here. You can buy a drink for almost nothing.”
“You scared me to death!”
The flash sale page that suddenly appeared in front of him nearly made Lu Yunze jump. He looked back, and sure enough, it was Jiang Sui!
“How are you in here?”
“Is it that strange that Iโm here?” Jiang Sui tilted her head. “Iโve been here so many times. When will you start treating me like a necessary fixture of this room, Young Master?”
“Are you a minor mob spawned in the bedroom?”
“Hey, shouldn’t I be an elite mob?”
Lu Yunze couldn’t help but roll his eyes, realizing she was actually on the same page as him. “How did you get in? I remember locking the door.”
“As the Young Masterโs personal maid, if I didn’t even have the key to his bedroom, how could I come in to serve him on the nights he needs me?”
Jiang Suiโs eyes were shining as she said this, as if she had accomplished something very proud. If anyone else had said they had his key, Lu Yunze would have taken it as a joke, but coming from Jiang Sui, he truly felt she meant what she said.
“Besides, I’m a stranger in a strange land here at the main house. And you know my shy personality, Young Master. In this whole house, you are my only reliance.”
“Right, sure. Keep talking.” Lu Yunze almost couldn’t help laughing.
Shy personality? If she was shy, then there were no introverts left in this world. And she claimed to be a stranger?
“Didn’t you say the Su family is also here in Central City? And I saw you chatting and laughing with the servants yesterday. How do you explain that?”
“Hehe!”
“Acting cute won’t work. Do you have to come find me every day?” Lu Yunze was frustrated but amused. “Aren’t you also on good terms with Luo Li?”
“Young Master, thatโs so mean, trying to push me off to the Young Miss.” Jiang Sui made a motion as if wiping away tears, but unfortunately, she could no longer fool Lu Yunze.
“You tease me every day. What do you take me for?”
“The most beloved Young Master, of course.”
“I can’t tell at all.”
Lu Yunze felt she treated him like a toy she had to play with once a day. If he were a toy, heโd let her play, but he was a living person with his own life and privacy. No matter how good his temper was, his patience had a limit. It seemed it was time to have a proper talk with her about this…
“If the Young Master thinks Iโm a nuisance, then I can stop appearing in front of you.”
“Eh?” Lu Yunze realized he hadn’t even spoken yet.
“Didn’t I just say? I am your maid. As long as it makes you happy, I am willing to do anything.”
As she spoke, Jiang Sui actually left the room. It wasn’t until the door closed again that Lu Yunze snapped out of it.
‘She really left?’
Although life without Jiang Sui was indeed much quieter, the more Lu Yunze thought about it, the more he felt something was very wrong. Given Jiang Suiโs personality, even if he yelled at her, she would usually continue to cling to him.
Why now…?
The more he thought, the more uneasy he became. Perhaps there was a reason for this? If he didn’t clear it up, he would feel uncomfortable all over. Lu Yunze decided to take the initiative for once.
The next afternoon, Lu Yunze found Jiang Sui in the corridor cleaning windows. She was standing on a ladder, holding a small broom. The black-stockinged legs beneath her maid outfit looked exceptionally long and slender. Lu Yunze stopped at a suitable distance; if he got any closer, he would see something impolite if he looked up.
“Ahem. Jiang Sui.”
“Oh, Young Master?” She seemed surprised by his arrival, her face showing a startled expression. “Why don’t you come closer?”
“Huh?” Lu Yunze was stunned.
“Today I’m wearing whiโ”
“Stop right there. I didn’t come to ask about that. Get down first.”
Jiang Sui followed his instructions and climbed down from the ladder, crossing her hands in front of her, waiting obediently for orders.
“About yesterday… you aren’t still angry, are you?”
“No. Why would I be angry?”
“Are you really not angry?”
“I was just following the Young Masterโs orders. Why would I be angry?” Jiang Sui tilted her head, appearing quite puzzled.
She was right, but why did Lu Yunze still feel something was off? He felt that her attitude toward him today was inexplicably cold.
“Since the Young Master finds me troublesome, you can go find the Young Miss directly. She would be very happy.”
Lu Yunze was shocked! He actually heard Jiang Sui tell him to go find Luo Li. Was the world coming to an end?
Seemingly oblivious to the shock on his face, Jiang Sui finished speaking, packed up her tools, and turned to leave.
‘Wrong. This is definitely wrong!’
After a moment of hesitation, Lu Yunze chose to catch up and grabbed her wrist.
“Jiang Sui, if something is wrong, just say it. You let me vent my frustrations to you, so can’t you tell me your troubles? Or do you intend to let me rely on you unilaterally without ever revealing your own heart?”
“Itโs not as serious as the Young Master thinks. Itโs just a private matter.”
“A private matter?” Lu Yunze was stunned. What private matter could cause such a big change in Jiang Sui?
Jiang Sui placed her hand over his palm. “Iโve been troubling you all this time, but the time to leave has come. Iโll have to ask the Young Miss to continue taking care of you.”
“What? Leave?”
“I really want to stay by your side, but there will always be a time to part. Itโs an act of God.”
Having said that, she left the stunned Lu Yunze behind, her figure disappearing into the distance. It took Lu Yunze a long time to snap out of it, his mind filled with the girlโs sorrowful expression and trembling voice.
‘Has to leave? Could it be… Jiang Sui doesn’t have much time left?!’
