“I’m not eating yours.”
Lu Qiancha turned her little head away, decisively dodging the porridge spoon that Ling Wanbai brought to her lips.
Ling Wanbai’s face remained calm as ever.
She gently placed the spoonful of white porridge back into the bowl, then picked up her chopsticks, steadily grasped a small, tantalizing slice of meat, and once again brought it to Lu Qiancha’s lips.
“Sniff sniff~”
Lu Qiancha’s petite nose twitched lightly, and her sapphire eyes suddenly lit up: “It smells so good—”
Before she finished speaking, she had already “ah-woo” taken the piece of meat from between Ling Wanbai’s chopsticks in one precise bite.
The meat was firm and springy, with an initial hint of spicy stimulation. As she chewed carefully, she could also taste delicate threads of sweet and sour aftertaste.
“Delicious!”
Lu Qiancha’s eyes and brows curved like crescent moons, unable to hide the satisfied smile on her face.
Ling Wanbai blinked, very naturally picked up another slice, and handed it over again.
Lu Qiancha showed no restraint, “ah-woo,” devouring it once more. While puffing out her cheeks and chewing hard, she mumbled unclearly as she acted cute toward Xun Xue: “Mmm… I want Mother to feed me!”
“Don’t talk while you’re eating.” Xun Xue first softly scolded her, then affectionately pinched Lu Qiancha’s soft, chubby cheeks with her index finger.
Only then did she pick up her own spoon, scoop a spoonful of warm porridge, and carefully bring it to the little one’s lips.
“Got it~” Lu Qiancha responded vaguely, then opened her mouth wide. “Ah-woo,” she swallowed the porridge in one bite.
The faint fragrance of rice spread in her mouth; though it was only ordinary white porridge, since it was fed by her mother’s hand, it tasted especially sweet.
Lu Qiancha’s little legs wrapped in white silk unconsciously swung with delight. A warm, blissful sense of happiness and satisfaction filled her heart.
Ever since she had crossed into this world, this was the first time she had experienced the happiness of familial affection.
After breakfast, Lu Qiancha shook her fluffy, big tail with vigor, fished a Rubik’s Cube from her Storage Space, and then turned it into several cards.
With great enthusiasm, she planned to head for the Snowfield No-Man’s Land and test out the power of her newly acquired Doomshroom.
“Mother, I’m going out to play!” Lu Qiancha announced with full energy.
“Be careful,” Xun Xue’s gentle voice called from behind.
Lu Qiancha’s figure flashed, already transformed into the appearance of a youth, soaring toward the distant horizon.
The Wolf Tribe Royal City was nestled among the encircling mountains. Just outside the city gates stretched an endless expanse of snowy wilderness.
Lu Qiancha skimmed through the sky, overlooking the snow-covered mountains and rivers below, searching for a secluded spot, far from civilization, to test her explosions.
However, after careful observation, Lu Qiancha could only shake her head helplessly. Around the royal city were many subsidiary tribal towns, most built by the snowy mountains.
If a Doomshroom exploded, the tremendous noise would likely trigger a catastrophic avalanche, harming innocent lives and bringing needless disaster.
At this thought, Lu Qiancha decisively abandoned the idea of detonating a large Doomshroom, and instead turned her gaze to the three mini Doomshroom cards in her hand, each adorned with a cute mushroom pattern.
She injected spiritual energy into a card.
Poof!
A fist-sized, oddly-shaped mushroom sprout instantly appeared in Lu Qiancha’s palm. This little thing was entirely purple-black, with a pair of round, vicious-looking “eyes” on its cap, which now stared unblinkingly at Lu Qiancha.
“Hm? I remember these mushrooms sleep during the day, don’t they?”
Lu Qiancha scratched her head in confusion, unsure what to make of it, and simply gave up thinking. She slowly descended to a patch of empty snowfield, and carefully planted the small Doomshroom in the soft snow.
She waited quietly.
The little mushroom didn’t move at all, showing no reaction.
Lu Qiancha: “?”
Lu Qiancha tilted her head in puzzlement. Could this Doomshroom be faulty?
Still confused, she took out another mini Doomshroom card, injected spiritual energy, and planted it beside the first.
***
Time passed by the second.
The two little mushrooms stood quietly in the snow, like two harmless ornaments.
“How odd… Could it be that all three must be planted together to synthesize a two-star Large Doomshroom to trigger an explosion?”
Lu Qiancha’s confusion deepened. She took out the third card and injected spiritual energy as well.
This time, three identical mini Doomshrooms stood in a row on the pure white snow, six round “eyes” staring at Lu Qiancha in eerie unison.
“Why is there still no reaction?” Lu Qiancha (pseudo) frowned, testingly taking a step forward.
At that moment—
“Jii—jii—!”
A few urgent cries rang out.
A fluffy, snow-white Snow Rabbit darted out of a hidden snow hole, and in its panicked escape, crashed headlong into one of the little Doomshrooms.
“Boom—!!”
A muffled yet powerful explosion suddenly erupted.
That unfortunate Snow Rabbit didn’t even have time to squeal. It was instantly blasted into a spray of ashes, not leaving behind a single drop of blood.
Lu Qiancha’s eye twitched. She’d always thought “waiting by the stump for a rabbit” was just a made-up story—who knew there really were dumb rabbits running around, crashing into things!
Still, thanks to this brave Snow Rabbit who “tested it with its life,” Lu Qiancha instantly dismissed guesses like “needs to synthesize a three-star Large Doomshroom” or “needs time to mature.”
Collecting her thoughts, she looked at the two remaining mini Doomshrooms in the snow and realized, “So that’s how it is—this is a triggered landmine. No wonder nothing happened when I first planted them.”
Looking at the three mushroom cards in her hand, now on cooldown and temporarily unusable, a classic line flashed through Lu Qiancha’s mind: “Teemo Captain, standing by.”
She quickly shook her head, tossing out that out-of-place catchphrase, and refocused on the mushrooms before her.
If these only exploded when triggered by someone or something stepping on them, then their value as “landmines” was greatly diminished.
Such an obvious black mushroom sticking out—only a fool would step on it. Was she really supposed to imitate Teemo Captain and hide them in the grass to wait for unsuspecting rabbits?
Lu Qiancha pursed her lips, clearly dissatisfied with this feature.
She circulated her spiritual energy, coating her palm with a thin Light Shield, and carefully reached out to poke one of the little Doomshrooms with her finger.
Her fingertip felt the tough texture of the mushroom—no explosion.
“Phew…” Lu Qiancha breathed a sigh of relief. “At least it’s not a crazed mushroom that attacks indiscriminately.”
She bent down and plucked the two mini Doomshrooms from the snow, holding them in her hand. Her gaze swept the snowy plain, soon locking onto a Snow Rabbit foraging not far away.
She took aim—
“Go!”
She hurled one of the mushrooms hard toward the Snow Rabbit.
“Jiji!”
The Snow Rabbit was startled by the sound of wind, its fur bristling as it kicked off with its hind legs, darting away like lightning.
The mini Doomshroom traced an arc through the air, landed with a “poof” precisely where the Snow Rabbit had just been standing, and burrowed deep into the soft snow.
The instant the Doomshroom touched the snowy ground—
“Bang!”
A muffled explosion sounded.
Snow flew everywhere, and only a shallow little crater remained at the site.
