The interior space of the sedan was far more spacious than it appeared from the outside, elegantly and comfortably arranged, carrying a trace of coldness, yet not to the point of biting.
“Set out.”
With a single command from White Dew, the sedan rose into the air, transforming into a streak of flowing light as it shot toward the northern sky under the escort of a host of White Dragons.
Qin Qingyue looked around, her fingertips brushing over the cool and smooth interior, murmuring to herself, “This Space Treasure is not bad.” For something to catch her eye, it was naturally remarkable.
White Dew lifted the curtain with her slender jade hand and sat down beside Jiang Huai, lowering her gaze as she spoke:
“Yes, it has a long history. Its previous owner was not from our White Dragon Clan.”
Qin Qingyue casually picked up a cup of Spiritual Tea frosted with ice and asked offhandedly,
“Then who was the previous owner?”
White Dew lifted her gaze, but her eyes fell on Jiang Huai beside her. A trace of indescribable complexity flashed through her ice-blue eyes.
“It was the last Yin-Yang Body.”
Qin Qingyue nearly spat out her tea, hurriedly setting the cup down, her expression straightening, dragon pupils filled with astonishment:
“The previous generation Yin-Yang Body? How long ago was that?”
White Dew gazed out the window at the drifting clouds, her tone imbued with the passage of years, “A very, very long time ago. Longer even than the Primordial Era.”
“Back then, she sat in this very sedan, drawn by six dragons, touring the four corners of the world.”
She didn’t seem to mind bringing up the past in front of Jiang Huai, the current Yin-Yang Body, her words carrying little concealment.
Qin Qingyue was taken aback at first, a storm of emotion churning within her, but then she recalled the extraordinary feats Jiang Huai had shown even during the Foundation Establishment Period and felt at ease once more.
The Dragon Clan did indeed find it hard to accept being treated as spirit pets, but if the Yin-Yang Body truly reached the peak, its power was immeasurable.
Having such grandeur seemed perfectly reasonable. After all, before absolute power, many rules became meaningless.
She admitted she might not be able to stand against Jiang Huai at the Great Ascension Stage.
“That’s pretty impressive,” Qin Qingyue cast a look filled with anticipation at Jiang Huai, already making calculations in her heart.
When her own husband achieved greatness, maybe she should arrange an even grander spectacle.
Maybe have six dragons pull the sedan too. That would certainly be imposing.
“Then, about the previous Yin-Yang Body,” she couldn’t help but probe further.
“Did she have a lot of husbands and wives?”
Given Jiang Huai’s way of advancing, this seemed like a reasonable guess.
White Dew furrowed her brow slightly, her tone tinged with some disapproval:
“What wives and concubines? She was a woman.”
“Oh.”
Jiang Huai seemed to realize, picking up the thread.
“Then she must have had plenty of husbands.”
White Dew cast him a glance, but her attitude softened considerably:
“She had no husbands either.”
“Huh?!”
Now Jiang Huai was truly stunned, his mind racing as he hurriedly pressed on,
“Then how did she cultivate? Didn’t she need Yin Yang Dual Cultivation? What about the crucial balance? Was it all Jade Liquid Qi Refining? Without a Dao Companion, how did she solve the key issues of the Yin-Yang Body’s cultivation? Did she advance all the way to the Great Ascension Stage by herself?”
White Dew seemed to see through his doubts and gently shook her head:
“I know what you want to ask, and I know the way you’re advancing right now.”
Her gaze was calm, as if nothing about the Yin-Yang Body was a secret before her.
Jiang Huai gave a sheepish smile, saying nothing further.
White Dew continued, “The previous Yin-Yang Body had her own unique cultivation method and inheritance. She didn’t need to rely on seeking Dao Companions with specific constitutions to break through bottlenecks.”
“The method you use is actually the original path the very first Yin-Yang Body explored, but from the second generation onward, the Yin-Yang Body developed a more complete and independent system of cultivation.”
Jiang Huai immediately became animated, leaning forward slightly.
“Does your White Dragon Clan have this cultivation method? We could make a trade.”
This might be the key to freeing himself from the current awkward mode of cultivation.
If possible, he didn’t want to keep searching for women with Yin-Yang attributes.
His current situation was already enough—he had Zhuxin and Su Yingman.
White Dew shook her head again, dashing his hopes:
“No. Such exclusive methods, passed down by each generation alone, would not have been left behind.”
“Even if they were, anyone who isn’t a Yin-Yang Body simply can’t practice them. Why would we go out of our way to collect them?”
She looked at Jiang Huai, her tone steady:
“So, in all likelihood, you will still need to follow the old path.”
Regrettably, Jiang Huai could only continue along the method of the original Yin-Yang Body, constantly seeking out women with Yin-Yang attributes.
Feeling a bit disappointed, Jiang Huai dropped the topic.
Qin Qingyue stroked her chin, her black dragon tail gently tapping the sedan floor behind her, producing a faint sound.
“Alright, so what exactly is the relationship between your White Dragon Clan and the previous Yin-Yang Body?”
White Dew fell silent.
The sedan was quiet for a moment.
White Dew’s profile was as unreadable as carved ice. After a long pause, she finally parted her lips, her voice flowing like a cold spring:
“In the past, the Yin-Yang Body and the White Dragon Clan maintained generations of close friendship, offering mutual aid many times and building deep bonds of gratitude.”
“Our clan, as per ancient pact, has always protected the Yin-Yang Body before they reach maturity, guiding them forward.”
“However…” Her words faltered slightly, and a faint shadow passed through her eyes,
“In those years, danger struck. The previous Yin-Yang Body, to protect this realm, fought to the bitter end and died in battle, leaving behind no bloodline inheritance.”
She turned to look directly at Jiang Huai, her tone calm yet each word heavy as a mountain.
“Young Master Jiang, throughout the ages, every Yin-Yang Body has been the strongest bulwark of this world.”
“They have defended this world, generation after generation. Most spilled their blood in the Void, their bodies shrouded in war banners. Some did not even leave a corpse behind.”
“All but the last left behind descendants to continue their bloodline, yet none were able to die of old age.”
“Every Yin-Yang Body has perished beyond the Void, without exception.”
As her words fell, Jiang Huai was silent.
Qin Qingyue, recalling the recent stirrings of the Outworld Heavenly Demon, felt her heart suddenly grow heavy.
Thinking further that Jiang Huai might face the same fate in the future, she felt a tightness in her chest, as if she couldn’t breathe.
“So.” Jiang Huai suddenly looked up, his gaze sharp, battle spirit burning.
“You think I’m destined to die in the Void as well? That I can’t defeat the Outworld Heavenly Demon?”
White Dew did not answer directly, only replied calmly,
“The cause and effect of this world always align with frightening coincidence. Outworld Heavenly Demon activity grows more frequent, and Young Master Jiang, you happen to appear now, as the Yin-Yang Body.”
“Were they never given a chance to ascend to the Immortal Realm?” Qin Qingyue couldn’t help but interrupt.
“If they reached the Great Ascension Stage, they could ascend to the Immortal Realm, far from the troubles of this world, safe from the Outworld Heavenly Demon. Wouldn’t that be safer?”
“No.” White Dew shook her head.
“Not a single one chose ascension. All of them stayed.”
Qin Qingyue’s emotions suddenly flared, and she shot to her feet, flames flickering in her dragon pupils.
“What does that have to do with our Jiang Huai?!”
“They chose to die in battle, that was their decision. Are you saying you want our Jiang Huai to do the same?”
White Dew lowered her gaze and said no more.
“Why should our family be the ones to protect this world?! Do you know how this world has treated me?!”
“Do you know what kind of days Jiang Huai endured in the mortal realm? What do the lives or deaths of others have to do with us?”
“I don’t accept your reasoning. When Jiang Huai reaches the Great Ascension Stage, he must go to the Immortal Realm with me!”
“Whatever happens to you and your people has nothing to do with our Jiang Huai!”
“Let’s go!” Qin Qingyue grabbed Jiang Huai and made to leave, brimming with anger.
