It’s absolutely impossible to directly break through from the Sea of Magic into the monster’s body.
Leaving aside the constant waves of magic power the monster was releasing, if she were to suddenly appear inside the monster’s body and reveal her true form, wouldn’t her body just overlap with the monster’s?
That would be no different from suicide.
So what Luo Shuangyue needed to do was to smuggle her attack inside.
And coincidentally, she really did have that ability.
She took a Sealing Card in her hand, flipped her wrist, and coated the card with a layer of Starlight Magic, quietly sending it toward the monster.
As for herself, she withdrew from the Sea of Magic and began to attract the monster’s attention.
As soon as she returned to the real world, the monster immediately launched an attack against her, with countless Missiles locking onto her position and hurtling toward her at breakneck speed.
Luo Shuangyue didn’t hesitate at all; she didn’t even look back to counterattack, just chose to run for her life.
A huge swarm of Missiles chased after her, while more Missiles continuously cut off her escape routes from the front and sides.
Her wings nearly snapped from flapping as she barely escaped this inescapable net.
Phantom Scythe wanted to return to Luo Shuangyue’s side to help, but Luo Shuangyue refused Phantom Scythe’s good intentions.
She told the little one not to worry about her and to focus all her strength on attacking the monster.
Just relying on these Missiles alone to kill Luo Shuangyue would still be a bit too difficult.
Right now, Luo Shuangyue hadn’t even used teleportation and could already run all over the place dragging a whole horde of Missiles.
If she did use teleportation, these Missiles would never be able to catch her.
Unless the monster could predict where Luo Shuangyue would appear after teleporting and lay a trap there, it would be impossible to catch her.
But when Phantom Scythe, transformed into a Black Mist Monster, charged at it, the monster’s attention was clearly drawn away by Phantom Scythe.
Now, the monster was fighting on three fronts: pursuing Luo Shuangyue, using Magic Artillery to suppress the Magical Girls, and drawing off power to handle Phantom Scythe’s devouring attack.
Though it was at Emperor Rank now, compared to Phantom Scythe—who was a true Emperor Rank monster—its strength was a little watered down.
Its Magic Artillery could indeed knock Phantom Scythe back, but most of the energy was absorbed by Phantom Scythe.
If it tried to use Missiles to blow her up, the damage was pitifully small.
When Phantom Scythe’s black mist touched its body, the monster was horrified to find that its supposedly indestructible shell was being corroded by the black mist, becoming incredibly fragile.
The black mist was like countless mouths, gnawing at its body, making the monster extremely anxious.
But very soon, it had no time to worry about such things.
Phantom Scythe was indeed a threat, but with its size advantage, and by firing Magic Artillery to keep Phantom Scythe at bay, it could keep her threat to a minimum.
At least for a short while, Phantom Scythe’s devouring couldn’t endanger its core.
But when a strange new force suddenly erupted inside its body, the monster truly experienced what internal injury meant.
A surge of Nether Force erupted violently inside it, turning parts of its insides into a grey-black color in the blink of an eye.
Flesh contaminated by Withering Magic came alive, turning into disgusting little worms that gnawed at its organs, producing even more worms.
The internal mutations had to be dealt with, so the monster was forced to loosen its suppression of the Magical Girls and focus on wiping out the mysterious worms inside.
“Its firepower has weakened, it seems distracted by something!”
The Magical Girls immediately noticed the monster’s attacks had lessened.
They’d been pressed hard just moments before, but now it seemed they’d gotten a chance to counterattack.
“It’s Soul Butterfly drawing its attention, we can’t let her efforts be wasted!”
“Can we fire off that first cannon blast again, or do we have any other way to hurt that monster?”
The Magical Girls began chattering as they considered their next move.
But their hands never stopped working.
Those who had fired the Magic Artillery earlier immediately began preparing for the Fusion Magic Cannon again.
Each of them was responsible for a part of the Fusion Magic Cannon’s Magic Circle, and after finishing their piece, the four sections would be combined into one array.
“Rosemary, do you still have the mental strength to fire again?”
The team leader looked at Xia Mo, whose face was a little pale, with a hint of concern in her voice.
That previous Fusion Magic Cannon had achieved such an effect largely thanks to Xia Mo—or rather, thanks to Ye Lin.
The reason the cannon could fuse so perfectly was because Ye Lin, the Spirit Weapon, harmonized the Magical Girls’ magic.
Without her, it would’ve been a miracle for the cannon not to explode before even being fired.
But after firing that shot, Ye Lin and Xia Mo were both completely drained; most of their spirit and magic power was spent, making it difficult to fire another shot like the last one.
“I can try.”
Even though her body kept warning her she was at her limit, that she couldn’t unleash another cannon like before, Xia Mo still gave a firm answer.
Her lover was fighting the monster alone; even a single mistake could mean falling into the abyss.
Could she really just stand by and do nothing?
No!
No way!
She was also a Magical Girl, and she could contribute to this battle!
Facing a monster that had broken through to Emperor Rank, a First Bloom-Class Magical Girl was tiny and powerless to hurt it, but if everyone joined forces, they could definitely turn the tide!
And the key to that was her!
For Luo Shuangyue, for everyone by her side, Xia Mo had to believe in herself and break through her own limits.
“But your body…”
“Senior, right now we’re fighting for the sake of The World. As long as we win, it doesn’t matter if I can never transform again in the future.”
Xia Mo’s eyes blazed as she looked at her senior, speaking every word clearly.
“Soul Butterfly is risking everything to buy us time; how can we let her efforts go to waste?”
“I’m a Magical Girl too. I can’t accept just standing by and watching. Right now, this is the only way we can help Soul Butterfly.”
Clenching her fists tightly, Xia Mo fixed her gaze on the distant speck of light.
Luo Shuangyue was finding it harder and harder to kite the monster’s Missiles; as their numbers increased, soon there’d be nowhere left to dodge.
Their time was running out.
So, should they gamble on everyone coming up with a new plan in such a short time, or gamble on herself risking everything to unleash another Fusion Magic Cannon?
To Xia Mo, there was no question.
For Luo Shuangyue, for everyone, she could—and must—risk everything.
“I can’t always be the little girl hiding behind her, trembling.”
Xia Mo looked into the distance, purple eyes seeming to burn with fire.
Seeing her like this, her senior knew Xia Mo had made up her mind, and was willing to trust her determination.
That resolve was the strongest weapon of a Magical Girl!
With a heart like this, Xia Mo would be unstoppable.
“Alright, we’ll leave everything to you, Rosemary!”
Swish!
Boom!
A gray beam of light struck a Missile, exploding together with the monster’s sharp-tipped Missile.
Luo Shuangyue held several Butterfly Darts in her hand, constantly turning around to attack the Missiles that got close to her, carving out a path for herself.
This was a trick she came up with on the spot to make up for her lack of ranged attacks.
Though they weren’t especially powerful, they were enough to detonate the monster’s Missiles.
And while running, she didn’t forget to dive into the Sea of Magic and deliver a few little “gifts” to the monster—she didn’t have much else, but she had plenty of Sealing Cards.
After confirming that her trick could indeed harm the monster, Luo Shuangyue kept finding new ways to send magic into its body.
The monster wasn’t stupid.
After being hit several times, it realized where the mysterious attacks were coming from, and immediately diverted some of its firepower from suppressing the Magical Girls to attack Luo Shuangyue, focusing all the Sea of Magic’s sealing fluctuations on her location.
This couldn’t stop Luo Shuangyue’s teleportation, but it did make diving in and out of the Sea of Magic extremely draining.
Now, each time Luo Shuangyue entered or exited, it cost almost as much as a full special move, which was why she had to lure aggro with her own body.
Precious magic power had to be used for attacking, not pointless escapes.
“Thank goodness Phantom Scythe doesn’t need my magic anymore. If she did, I couldn’t handle the drain from both of us…”
Normally, when Phantom Scythe was in her little girl form, she used Luo Shuangyue’s magic in battle, and after devouring the enemy’s remains, she’d return some magic to Luo Shuangyue.
But now, as a monster, Phantom Scythe no longer fed magic back or took magic from Luo Shuangyue.
Other than their mental link, they were nearly two independent beings.
And perhaps, that’s the most terrifying thing about a Spirit Weapon.
It’s like recruiting an Emperor Rank monster into the Magical Girls’ ranks.
Though not as strong as before, it was still a net gain compared to completely annihilating an Emperor Rank.
In a fight against a genuine Emperor Rank, Phantom Scythe might not be of much use, but against this diluted Emperor Rank, she was a huge advantage.
The monster was stuck: it couldn’t ignore Phantom Scythe, but the only thing that could stop her was Magic Artillery—which just powered her up more.
In just the time it spent using Magic Artillery to hold her back, Phantom Scythe had grown even bigger by devouring its magic.
If she really got close, the monster’s fate would be miserable.
So the monster had no choice but to keep using Magic Artillery to block Phantom Scythe—an endless cycle.
What made things worse was that other annoying bug it was chasing all over—somehow that one could bypass its shell and damage it from inside.
After several rounds, its insides were riddled with wounds.
If it weren’t for being an abnormal lifeform to begin with, it would have already fallen.
In the distance, the purple figure vanished from the Missiles’ encirclement, reappearing nearby in an instant.
The monster prepared itself, knowing another attack would soon erupt from within.
Sure enough, just ten seconds later, it felt a stabbing pain inside, as if a spinning blade had suddenly been shoved into its body.
Letting out a low growl, the monster shattered the attack inside with magic power.
Even its soft inner flesh wasn’t going to be destroyed by a single sneak attack.
Besides, the monster wasn’t afraid of too many injuries affecting its future.
No matter how badly it was hurt, it could recover by absorbing a massive amount of magic, and didn’t even need time to heal.
Most importantly, this monster had no future anyway; after this battle, it would vanish from The World as its magic burned out.
Even fusing together so many powerful Wang-Class monsters, it had to pay with its life just to borrow a bit of Emperor Rank power.
This monster, too, was fighting with its life on the line.
It used Magic Artillery to suppress the Black Mist Monster, Missiles to hunt down that annoying little fly—it still felt it held a huge advantage.
It couldn’t completely block the Black Mist Monster’s attacks, but the Black Mist Monster couldn’t take it down quickly either.
As for that little fly, she was almost at the end of her rope.
With every new tracking Missile cutting off her escape, and the Sea of Magic being thrown into chaos, the fly’s demise would surely be more pitiful than being devoured by the Black Mist Monster.
As for those other pests it had been suppressing, the monster probed and sensed no magic fluctuations from their direction—they must have run off and abandoned the little fly.
Heh, such foolish creatures.
Let it kill the little fly first, then go help its master and win the final victory!
Pride and excitement surged in the monster’s heart.
It had no idea that the absence of magic fluctuations might mean something other than its enemies fleeing.
It could also mean they’d used magic to deliberately mask their presence.
While the monster arrogantly believed victory was in hand, Luo Shuangyue had already realized what her companions were doing.
“Another Fusion Magic Cannon… If we want to defeat this thing, that’s probably the only way.”
Luo Shuangyue knew very well that her power alone wasn’t enough to kill the monster.
