โThat’s right. Besides your team, there are several other elite squads. But for the sake of fairness, no one is allowed to sneak away. Once all the teams have gathered, we will set out together,โ the Bald Bishop explained.
You have to admit, only a high-ranking Church official could be so meticulous and principled. In an instant, he transformed from a bald bishop into a strategist analyzing the Pig Demon Nun squad.
But after hearing his words, Samimi fell into deep thought.
In the original Crimson Court, there was no such segment. In fact, this starting location and background setting are the same, but many other details have changed to varying degrees.
First and foremost, the biggest change is that Samimi dispatched most of the gray-robed demon knights, replacing them with three beautiful demon knight maidens as her main forces, one of whom was even a character-level figure.
However, Samimi remembered that this wasnโt some sort of joint defense mission by three parties, but a secret assignment issued solely by the Church. Only the Churchโs gray-robed demon knights would be sent to their deaths, winning victory with piles of corpses.
Because it was a confidential Church mission, none of the demon knights would receive rewards or have their merits recorded after a successful assault. Given the Churchโs nature, as long as they didnโt kill them afterward to cover tracks, it was considered fortunate.
Just like how they treated the Pig Demon Nun beforeโall information and reports were kept strictly confidential.
But now things are different. The Church, the Adventurers’ Guild, and the royal government are all involved in the Crimson Court mission. Therefore, the Church cannot hide the details of this assignment anymore.
This mission will definitely be recorded officially, and all participants will surely receive medals and rewards. Otherwise, who would bother to stick around guarding the gate for a year or more?
This is no secret mission. Itโs a heroโs quest.
An Underground City belonging to the enemy of the Human Race has appeared, a shocking conspiracy brewing. This is a perfect opportunity to make a name for oneself.
Everyone with connections and abilities will want to make a contribution. This will be a battleground declaration.
โDoes this change the ending of the story?โ Samimi murmured to herself.
In the end, many gray-robed knights would still be sacrificed in the Crimson Court. Although Samimi was already the strongest priestess protecting her teammates, she couldnโt save everyone.
But what did it matter? If they died, they died. What concern was that of Samimi?
She wasnโt a savior. She came into the story not even as the protagonist. Why should she bother protecting these fools chasing death? Besides, she was sure no one would listen to her advice. All she had to do was protect her beautiful teammates.
Her character wasnโt that of a gentle saintly woman, but a sharp-tongued, sharp-eyed lady of the battlefield.
Samimi instantly stopped wasting energy on internal conflicts and freed herself.
โSo, which elite teams are participating in this operation?โ Samimi asked eagerly.
โThere are several elite squadsโฆโ The Bald Bishop was about to answer.
โWait! Halt!โ A firm voice rang out from outside.
โTheyโre here. Theyโre the ones who ordered me to expand your mission,โ the Bald Bishop said, his face turning ashen with fear.
โYouโre afraid of so many people? Then how dare they confront me like this?โ Samimi sighed helplessly.
Scout Karl went to open the door. A large group of Church light cavalry, clad in lightweight armor, poured in. They lined up in two rows, silently coordinatingโit was an imposing sight.
At the front was a young female knight who walked with dignity and an aura that radiated power.
She had long, straight hair typical of female clerics, much like Priestess Rebecca. This hairstyle naturally gave off a sense of authority and pressure. However, her hair had a faint purple hue, not pure black, making her look even more regal.
She and the surrounding knights wore lacquered, high-grade light armor, their white uniforms immaculate and identical. Over this, they wore flowing long cloaks, with chainmail beneath the chest plates.
If not for the Church insignia on their shoulders, Samimi might have mistaken them for demon hunters from some movie set.
Most notably, they brandished large katana swords, which looked rather exotic.
At minimum, their backs carried a long katana with a subtle magical aura.
These people didnโt bother hiding itโthey were all genuine katana warriors.
However, their style was still common enough: a fusion of East and West in a Taisho-era fashion.
This autumn wind style is characterized by modernized Western suits paired with Eastern-style katanas. Itโs a popular entry point for many new fans of the new secondary dimension genre.
โTheyโre from the [Inquisition Tribunal].โ The Bald Bishop lowered his voice to explain into Samimiโs ear. โThey are directly under the Popeโs command, answerable only to him, with the authority to investigate all clerics. This mission is also led by them. Our role is simply to pass on messages.โ
โInteresting,โ Samimi stroked her chin but thought to herself: Isnโt this just the otherworldly version of the Anti-Corruption Commission?
โThat woman isโฆโ The Bald Bishop was about to continue the introduction.
โI am the Director General of the Inquisition Tribunal, granddaughter of the Pope, Sorina Melin Frederich! I heard that a demon nun assassin appeared hereโI want to meet her!โ The Director Generalโs commanding voice rang out, stunning the room.
But she had clearly seen Samimi earlier and had been staring at her the whole time, evidently aware that Samimi was a low-profile figure.
Still, the Director General insisted on making a grand entrance. This wasnโt her coming to find Samimi; it was the other way around, and she was sending a message.
Samimi felt like she had seen this character somewhere before.
She seemed to know a proud female knight who always flaunted being the granddaughter of someone important, much like this Director General.
But now, as the adopted daughter of a marquis, Samimi had no standing to lecture others.
Samimi remained silent at the Director Generalโs summons, sitting rigidly without moving a muscle.
The Director Generalโs anger visibly increased, glaring at Samimi with intense fire. Her tone was oppressive: โYou, come here right now!โ
โListen, Iโm here under the Purple-robed Bald Bishopโs authority. I wonโt repeat what Iโve already said,โ Samimi snapped, her temper ready to ignite. No matter who it was, she wasnโt going to give an inch.
Her outburst shocked all the Church personnel present, including her teammates. Only Karl looked unfazed.
This woman was no ordinary bishop-level Church official; she was the Popeโs granddaughter, holding the strongest authority beneath the Pope himself.
โDo you doubt my identity? I am the Popeโs granddaughter. The Inquisition Tribunal stands above all Church organizations. I have the right to investigate you!โ the Director General snarled.
โHow many troops do you have? With just these few Inquisition knights in strange uniforms, you want to threaten me?โ Samimi scoffed wildly, acting as if the Pope didnโt exist.
