“Gravity Manipulation? That Magic sounds really advanced.” Xiadam exclaimed in awe.
“It truly is a highly sophisticated way of using Mana. At the very least, it’s not a Magic you Human Mage can comprehend just through study. Even I can’t replicate that little trick of Magic right away. I’m afraid it’s a unique innate ability of this little black Dragon.”
Sheffield snatched the Fat Little Dragon over again, then tossed it up into the air.
It walked in midair, slowly drifting down, floating for an incredibly long time.
“……” Xiadam’s pride took a heavy blow.
Even a little Dragon’s Magic cultivation is better than mine?
She reached out and picked up the Fat Little Dragon again, holding it for a long time, staring at its silly little Dragon head for ages.
“Ga~” The Fat Little Dragon was getting sleepy and started to doze off.
But even as it slept, it could maintain its gravity-lightening mode.
Actually, Xiadam could feel the Mana slowly circulating and flowing through its body.
She was a Mage now too. Although she couldn’t see as clearly as the Dragon King, she could still spot a bit of what was going on beneath the surface.
The Fat Little Dragon could achieve Magic Circulation, recycling its Mana to the utmost, realizing minimal consumption and endless passive effect.
Rather than calling it Magic, it was more like an innate talent, something no one else could imitate.
But at least from now on, she could pick up the Fat Little Dragon herself. That was good news.
“Sigh.” Xiadam sighed heavily from the side.
Sheffield sat down next to her, grinning comically and patted her own thigh.
“What are you doing?” Xiadam had no idea what she meant.
“Take a break, use my leg as a pillow. I see lots of kids in the camp sleeping like this.” Sheffield said with a smile.
“So mushy, no way.” Xiadam looked a little disgusted.
“You don’t get a say in this.” Sheffield’s face fell as soon as she heard that, and she flicked her slender fingers.
Xiadam immediately toppled over, her face coming to rest squarely on Sheffield’s thigh.
They really were strong yet soft and plush thighs, incredibly comfortable.
Xiadam had wanted to say something more, but as soon as the back of her head touched down, she felt overwhelmingly sleepy.
Even the sunlight was blocked by Sheffield’s “big milk pillows.” Facing up, she couldn’t see the sky at all, and not a ray of sunlight reached her eyes.
Xiadam could finally empty her mind and take a nap.
The Fat Little Dragon wanted to crawl onto Xiadam’s “flat board.”
But Sheffield flicked it away with a finger, so it could only curl up obediently in Xiadam’s arms and sleep with her.
But when Xiadam woke from her nap, the sky was already dark. They couldn’t travel any further.
“Remember, never take a nap again when we’re on the road.” Xiadam said seriously.
“Got it.” Sheffield scratched her head and agreed honestly.
Since it was night, they couldn’t travel, but after the nap, they weren’t sleepy anymore.
Xiadam could only meditate on the spot, absorbing Mana from the air.
Luckily, the best thing about being a Mage was never running out of things to do. If there was nothing else, just sit down and meditate, which was a great way to pass the time.
After several days on the road, crossing one plain after another and passing through countless small groves,
They finally arrived at a new, vast grassland, where they saw a road on the ground at last—but it was a broken one.
Because not far ahead stood a remote, grand city of a kingdom.
That was the Ravini Border Fortress the middle-aged Knight Captain had spoken of.
A circle of sturdy yet weathered, magnificent stone walls was the first thing that caught their eyes.
Not a single traveler could be seen on the road across the plain; it was deathly still, making one wonder if anyone actually lived there.
Soon, Xiadam, her companion, and the little Dragon arrived at the rear gate of the border fortress.
But here, a giant iron grate had been lowered, blocking passage.
Inside, a Gate Guard was sitting and dozing off.
“Hey! Kid, wake up! How can you sleep on duty?” Xiadam tapped the iron gate with her White Branch Staff and questioned loudly.
Having been a battle-hardened Knight who guarded the border for twenty years, she had no patience for such behavior.
“Don’t knock on iron with your staff. Every heavy knock might decrease the staff’s efficiency as a Magic Amplifier for your Mana circulation.” Sheffield whispered.
“Alright.” Xiadam stopped at once.
Was the staff really that fragile?
But she quickly switched to using her trusty Old Broad Sword that had accompanied her for half her life to knock on the gate instead.
“Huh? Ah… ah ah!” The Gate Guard finally woke up.
But when he saw the young Mage girl and the Silver-haired Elf outside the gate, he wondered if he was dreaming. Or was it a spring dream?
“Kid, get over here and open the gate! I have something to discuss with your Lord.” Xiadam barked, snapping him out of his daydream.
“Calm down, don’t get worked up. You’re a Mage now.” Sheffield quietly advised.
“Who are you?” The Gate Guard came up to the iron gate, looking bewildered.
“You’re not even holding the Sword of the Knight at your side. If I were an enemy plotting against the border fortress, you’d already be dead.” Xiadam rebuked coldly, clearly ignoring Sheffield’s advice.
“Ah, me? Sorry…” The Gate Guard was at a loss for words, then hurried back to grab his knight’s sword, looking quite ridiculous.
When he returned, Xiadam coldly explained a second time, “We are the benefactors of the Pioneer Knights sent out by Lord Lavini. I helped them establish a brand new Human settlement.”
“Huh?” The Gate Guard was dumbfounded, frozen for a while before saying, “Let me go and report to the Lord.”
“You want us to wait outside? Let the people who helped you open up new territory stand here in the cold wind?” Xiadam pressed.
The Gate Guard was truly at a loss.
Should he go report to the boss first, or open the gate first? Either way seemed wrong.
Open the gate first, or report first? Or report and then open?
“Ladies, I’ll open the gate for you right away.”
The Gate Guard finally chose to trust Xiadam, turned around and slipped into the guardhouse, operated the wheel mechanism inside, and raised the iron gate.
Xiadam and Sheffield bent down, and with the Fat Little Dragon, successfully entered the Ravini Border Fortress.
“Misses…” The Gate Guard came back, greeting them with a smile.
“Clang!” Suddenly, with a flash of cold light, Xiadam drew the sword at her waist and pointed it straight at the Gate Guard’s throat.
The sword was so fast, the guard had no time to react, rooted to the spot, cold sweat pouring down.
“If we were invaders, you’d already be dead.” Xiadam said coldly.
“…”
The Gate Guard’s face went pale, unable to utter a single word.
“Why didn’t you draw your sword? I’m just a weak girl—didn’t you even think of resisting?” Xiadam continued her lesson.
“Milady… I… I-I-I-I…”
The Gate Guard only felt his scalp tingle, completely dizzy from being toyed with.
“Remember this lesson today—don’t trust women easily, especially pretty ones.”
Xiadam quickly sheathed her sword, reached into her white robe, and took out a letter to hand to the Gate Guard.
“This is a letter personally written by the Pioneer Knight Commander. Give it to your Lord, and he’ll understand what’s happened.”
