If it were a bloodthirsty demonic cultivator, all worlds would be plunged into utter despair.
Right now, all the famous powerhouses of the great worlds were already preparing countermeasures.
For instance, in this world, the Su family had strengthened their defenses near the world barrier, determined not to let even a mosquito slip through.
In fact, most people believed this Supreme had been born right here, the earliest pressure was distinctly felt by many in the territory of Capital City.
But there were also dissenting voices, claiming the pressure might just be a projection from the great worlds—the pressure soon became so immense it could suppress an entire world, making it impossible to pinpoint its origin, which was proof enough.
Whatever the truth, it was better to be extra cautious.
Against a being of this level, even with the world barrier, few felt at ease.
After all, just the mere pressure from across endless space made people want to worship at her feet.
No one dared imagine what utter ruin would result if they faced her for real.
The quiet bedroom.
I gripped my daughter’s small hand tightly, not letting her go, shaking my head slowly and firmly.
“Don’t blame her. It was my own decision.”
Si Zhiruo scrunched her little face in grievance, “If I’d known you’d be so lovestruck, I never would’ve let you fall in love.”
I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “What kind of strange logic is that?”
“How am I lovestruck?”
“Fine, I won’t blame her then.” Si Zhiruo pouted, “Let your daughter check if there’s any other way to cure you.”
Yin energy flowed from where she gripped me into my meridians.
Feeling the familiar yin aura, I opened my eyes a little wider.
Si Zhiruo caught my expression and gave a sweet smile. If she had a tail, it’d definitely be wagging non-stop. “How about it, isn’t your daughter amazing?”
She looked so eager for praise she might as well have “Mama, Mama, hurry and praise me!” written on her face.
“Amazing.” I managed a smile, though my body was still very weak.
After a while, Si Zhiruo’s face grew serious, and she slowly shook her head. “It’s not going to work. This time’s problem is completely different from last time. If it were a lesion, I could just throw it out—cancer is actually the easiest disease to cure. But if your weakness comes from a foundational cause, you need heavenly treasures to recover. No matter how powerful your daughter is, I’m just on a different energy level—I’m not some radish you can pull out of the ground and eat for nutrition, it’s a completely different system, apples and oranges.”
Seeing her pouting in such an adorable way, and hearing her strange metaphors, I couldn’t help but smile.
This was my daughter.
So different from when she was in my belly; every expression now had form and substance.
She was already a lively little life, with a real body I could hold.
“Mama!”
“Are you even listening to your daughter?” Si Zhiruo shook my arm, her spoiled tone obvious.
Thanks to Zhi Zhi’s help in smoothing my meridians, even if I couldn’t fully heal the side effects of my sacrifice, I was feeling a lot better—at least I wasn’t struggling just to lift an arm, so I could chat with her for a bit.
“I’m listening.” My eyes sparkled, and feeling her constant shaking, I couldn’t resist pinching her cheek.
Just as I thought—soft and squishy.
Even though she was the same person before and after awakening her true spirit, I felt like my daughter was even more lively and adorable now.
Correspondingly, her little cheeks were even softer to the touch.
Si Zhiruo pouted in protest, itching to open her mouth and bite down.
Seriously.
Who listens to someone talk and just wants to pinch their cheeks?
Mama is just too much.
How is she more like a child than me?
“Want to bite me?” My smile grew more obvious.
“No, your daughter would never dare bite Mama.” Si Zhiruo wrinkled her nose, the scent of medicinal herbs wafting from the kitchen. She snorted and muttered to herself, “At least she has a conscience, knowing to make Mama some tonic. Otherwise, Zhi Zhi really would have to give her a beating for Mama.”
Hmm, that’s right?
If the daughter beats up her mother’s partner, does that count as domestic violence?
It should… count, right?
She was mulling over this very serious question, her head cocked to the side.
Then, her soft little body flopped onto the quilt below.
Lying on Mama, this close reliance made the little dumpling’s eyes slowly close in contentment, her gaze full of satisfaction.
“Mama, you must get better soon.”
“Zhi Zhi still wants you to take me to the amusement park.” She opened her eyes slightly, looking at her little palm, “Mm, in another half a year, I should be able to walk normally.”
She could already use her cultivation to force herself to walk and so on.
But it wasn’t natural.
At least, she’d have to grow to over a meter tall.
These days, nutrition is hardly lacking.
Most children reach about a meter tall by age three.
Not to mention Si Zhiruo, who would only grow faster—she might reach the height of an average three-year-old by the age of two.
After all, she was a seven- or eight-pound baby at birth.
“Mm, when the time comes, Mama will take you to the aquarium, the zoo, the amusement park, and the escape room. There are so many fun things, we can try them all.” I started mentally listing fun places, then paused, realizing I hadn’t actually been to any of them myself.
But, it didn’t matter.
The regrets of my childhood—I’d let my daughter make up for them.
Going with my daughter, I’d experience them all the same.
“Okay!” Si Zhiruo’s eyes shone with anticipation, as if she couldn’t wait, her whole body bubbling with excitement.
It was her first time in the human world.
Everything was new and fascinating, capturing her gaze.
Seeing me lost in thought, the little one reached for my left hand, her care overflowing, “Mama, what are you thinking about?”
“Nothing, just imagining our future.”
Having a daughter like this… seems pretty wonderful.
After confirming Mama wasn’t lost in strange emo thoughts, the little dumpling’s mind opened wide, and she started thinking of more and more exciting things. “Mama, Mama, you still haven’t asked Zhi Zhi how I can circulate Yin energy so smoothly.”
“Then Mama is asking: how did you do it, baby?” I smiled and played along.
“It’s a pretty magical turning point, tied to power beyond the Nine Sources. Mama, you know I broke through, right?”
“Once I broke through the Nine Source realm, I was just half a step away from the unreachable Emperor Realm. That last half step alone lets me create a domain where I am the sole Sovereign.”
“This domain is unique to the Emperor Realm. Once it’s deployed, not even the Dao of Heaven can interfere with what happens within.”
“The biggest difference between half-step Emperor and full Emperor is the duration of the Sovereign Domain. Half-step can only use it for a while, but a true Emperor can make it permanent, creating a world all their own. That’s why the Emperor Realm is called the Sovereign Realm.”
She pouted. “I feel like I could break through, but the Dao of Heaven pushed me back at the last moment.”
“Oh well, half a step is still progress. I have a strong feeling that if I can return to a place in my memory and retrieve something very important, I can complete that final step.”
“At that point, even the Dao of Heaven couldn’t stop me.” Her eyes blazed with fierce fire. “Oh, right, I still haven’t explained how to use Yin energy.”
She stuck out her tongue.
She’d been so eager to share all her best achievements with Mama, she’d nearly forgotten the topic she’d brought up herself.
I stroked her head with satisfaction, “No rush, take your time. Mama is listening.”
“Once the Sovereign Domain unfolds, all the nearby energy is under my control. Channeling some Yin energy over and transforming it for absorption is as easy as can be. And, I’m not just a pure ghost cultivator anymore; I feel a bit like you, Mama—both of us are human cultivators of Yin energy, so I can directly absorb Yin energy now.”
Listening to Si Zhiruo’s slightly contradictory words, I suddenly chuckled softly, stroking her head even more tenderly.
This girl, just to make me praise her, had laid out all her strengths so thoroughly.
If she really wanted to explain, the last sentence alone would have sufficed.
Si Zhiruo’s face reddened, but she went on earnestly, “To get even better, I turned my ghost body and ghost energy into a single core this time. The bead is inside my heart now, acting as a relay station so I can freely use ghost energy and Yin energy together. It’s like a promax version of human and ghost cultivators—and essentially, I’m still a normal human.”
“How should Mama reward such an amazing daughter?”
“I want a kiss as a reward.” Si Zhiruo hid her hands behind her back, recalling a scene she’d once witnessed at kindergarten, where parents would squat down and kiss their kids on the cheek after they’d been given a little red flower, praising and encouraging them.
She’d always looked forward to that moment.
Zhi Zhi wanted Mama’s kisses and encouragement, too.
Definitely not jealous of other kids.
I gently kissed her on the cheek. “There’s your reward.”
“Yay! Zhi Zhi finally got a reward!” Si Zhiruo clenched her fist in excitement, almost forgetting her body was still soft—if not, she’d have jumped three feet high.
I lay back down again, feeling tired after all this.
Zhi Zhi saw my fatigue and didn’t disturb my rest, simply propping her little head in her hand, silently keeping watch at my side.
