Singularity didn’t even bother to finish listening to Luo Shuangyue’s explanation before she plunged headfirst into the teleportation Magic Circle.
Compared to listening to someone else explain, she much preferred charging in herself to see what was going on.
After a short while, she flew out from the teleportation array, completely unharmed and beaming with joy.
“It worked! This time it really worked!” she shouted loudly to the many Magical Girls attending the meeting.
Although the passage behind the Teleportation Gate was still rather short and narrow, she had just tried infusing her own Magic Power into the channel behind the Magic Circle, discovering she could keep extending the stabilized passage forward.
In other words, all Luo Shuangyue needed to do was construct the Grand Gate, and the subsequent digging of the passage could be handled entirely by Full Bloom-Class Magical Girls.
This was far simpler and more convenient than doing everything herself.
There was simply no comparison between a First Bloom-Class and more than a dozen Full Bloom-Class Magical Girls—everyone knew which side would be more efficient.
“No time like the present! Let’s see right now whether fixing up this Teleportation Gate is easy or a pain!” Singularity exclaimed, grabbing Luo Shuangyue’s hand and pulling her toward the Teleportation Gate.
With the builder by her side, she finally felt at least a little bit confident.
After about ten minutes of work, Singularity had extended the channel by quite a bit, while Luo Shuangyue, following the same pattern, began constructing a Magic Circle at the end of this test passage.
Teleportation Gates worked both ways—once you mastered how to build one, you could construct countless such Grand Gates.
Compared to the time Singularity spent expanding the channel, Luo Shuangyue spent much longer constructing the Magic Circle.
After all, extending the channel only required infusing Magic Power, but constructing the Magic Circle took significant effort and concentration.
For Luo Shuangyue, the Teleportation Magic Circle was undoubtedly one of the most complex spells she had ever learned.
After completing the exit Magic Circle, she felt her head begin to spin and her mental energy was once again on the verge of exhaustion.
Still, it was all worth it.
A bridge spanning the sea of stars had now appeared in the vast, dark universe.
Of course, it couldn’t transport people instantaneously, but compared to struggling through space, it was unimaginably faster.
Traveling from Mother Star to the Lunar Base could now be accomplished in just a few steps.
“I feel like this Teleportation Gate hasn’t reached its full potential yet. In theory, if it moved through the Magic Power Ocean, it should be able to travel far faster than the speed of light.”
After going in and out of the Teleportation Gate a few times, Luo Shuangyue noticed something was a little off.
Her Teleportation Gate seemed… a bit like a cheap knockoff?
Just like how her imitation Sealing Card consumed a lot of energy for poor results, her version of the Teleportation Gate also felt shoddy and subpar.
Not to mention, the original gate could almost teleport people instantly, but hers just couldn’t manage that.
“Don’t put so much pressure on yourself! For us, this Teleportation Gate is already more than enough!” The Vice Minister of the Magic Department in the conference room looked at Luo Shuangyue with excitement.
Whether or not it was a knockoff, they finally had a Teleportation Gate that could truly be put to use!
Quality aside, having one at all was what mattered.
Even if the performance of this Teleportation Gate was a pale shadow of the original, so what?
For the Magic Department right now, this was a lifesaver in the middle of a snowstorm!
“We can talk about improvements later. For now, let’s figure out how to anchor it at the Lunar Base and on Mother Star.” Cecilia slapped the table.
This was something Luo Shuangyue didn’t need to worry about anymore.
Singularity quickly figured out a way to move the Teleportation Gate, and in doing so, she discovered another characteristic.
There was no need to construct the passage from inside—it could simply be lengthened by grabbing one end of the gate and giving it a good pull.
Of course, this consumed Magic Power, just like extending the passage from within.
Extending the channel cost Magic Power, and so did shortening it—though shrinking it took a bit less.
Simply relocating the entrance and exit, keeping them relatively stationary, cost even less Magic Power.
So Singularity, along with Long Wen who had appeared from who-knows-where, each pushed a gate, and shrank the Teleportation Passage until the two gates were nearly side by side.
Then the two of them carried the shrunken gates over to the Lunar Base, pondering how to anchor the gate at the base.
Luo Shuangyue didn’t pay much attention to how they ultimately completed the task.
All she knew was that after a good sleep, the towering Teleportation Gate had been secured not far from the Lunar Base.
Already, several unmanned machines and Magical Girls were moving in and out of the gate.
“Dark Moth! You’re amazing!” A pink Magical Girl ran up happily to the yawning Luo Shuangyue, full of excitement as she praised her.
“The seniors sure are quick to act.” Luo Shuangyue stepped back a little, embarrassed.
She’d only just slept for a little over ten hours, but the Full Bloom-Class Magical Girls had already used the Teleportation Gate to connect Mother Star and the Lunar Base—a trip that used to take much longer.
The work efficiency here could only be described as terrifying.
“But Peach, how did you get up here? Did your father agree to let you come?” Luo Shuangyue asked the girl curiously.
She remembered Peach had a job, right?
Surely she hadn’t just skipped work to come play?
“It’s because the Teleportation Gate opened! The seniors let us come try out this new thing, and also wanted Magical Girls who’ve never been to space to see what it’s like up here.” Peach put her hands on her hips and laughed heartily.
The Teleportation Gate that Luo Shuangyue had made wasn’t exactly huge or tiny.
Those super-massive machines couldn’t pass through, but Magical Girls were small, so traveling back and forth was very convenient.
So the Magic Department gave the word: Magical Girls who had fought in space for a long time could go to the surface to rest, while Magical Girls like Peach, who’d always been stationed on the ground, could come up and experience a change of environment.
“I see….” Luo Shuangyue suddenly understood.
“Miss Dark Moth, you can return to the surface too.” Pointing at the Grand Gate nearby, Peach spoke to Luo Shuangyue.
She didn’t believe for a second that Miss Dark Moth wouldn’t be among the first to get a vacation.
“I have to wait a bit longer—my friend hasn’t come yet.” Luo Shuangyue shook her head. Xia Mo was still packing her luggage for the trip to the surface.
There was no way Luo Shuangyue would leave her behind and go down alone, right?
If she did, Luo Shuangyue figured she’d have to think very carefully about what position to take when kneeling on the washboard later.
For the sake of her knees, she’d better obediently wait for Xia Mo to come down. It wouldn’t take long anyway.
Beside her, Peach continued to fire off enthusiastic questions, and Luo Shuangyue selected a few she could actually answer.
As the conversation drifted from daily life to other topics, Peach finally learned some things from Luo Shuangyue that she’d never heard before while on the surface.
For example, that Prophecy Duel everyone kept quiet about.
“What?! Miss Dark Moth, you actually defeated the Crimson Core, and even beat the Ten Predecessors all by yourself!” Miss Peach gasped, her hands covering her mouth in utter shock.
She’d never heard about this on the surface!
After all, not many people had come down from space recently.
And even if some Magical Girls from the Magic Department had returned, they were too embarrassed to talk about it and kept everything secret.
So Peach, who’d always been on the ground, had no idea that such an exciting event had happened above.
She didn’t doubt that Luo Shuangyue was telling the truth. With something so public, with so many witnesses, how could it be made up?
If the duel had been a private affair, she might have had her doubts, but this time the Prophecy Duel had been public, and Miss Dark Moth had said there were countless spectators.
There was just no way she was boasting.
“Amazing!”
“They were too weak, and my powers happened to counter them.” Luo Shuangyue didn’t act humble; she graciously accepted Peach’s admiration.
That one-against-ten victory was a triumph she’d long cherished in her heart.
Now she finally had a chance to show off a little—how could she not enjoy the feeling of being admired?
By chance, a pair of red-haired sisters walked past Luo Shuangyue.
“Dark Moth, you’ve gone and accomplished something big again.” Crimson Core’s expression was a little stiff; she’d heard what Luo Shuangyue and Peach had just been discussing.
“And can we not keep spreading that story? It hurts my feelings, you know.”
She didn’t really mind the Prophecy Duel that much, but hearing herself used as someone else’s stepping stone in front of others still made her a bit embarrassed.
Caught up in her wounded feelings, she hugged her little sister tightly and began to make exaggerated sobbing sounds.
Scarlet Moon, suddenly hugged like that, stiffened, and a blush immediately rose to her cheeks.
“Big sis, don’t do that all of a sudden….” There were so many people watching!
After their last sparring match, Crimson Core had finally discovered a good way to get close to her sister.
Yes, it was exactly Luo Shuangyue’s earlier suggestion: act pitiful, act sad.
As long as she put on that face, she could reel her sister in for sure.
For an elder sister used to projecting strength and perfection, this wasn’t easy, but in order to avoid drifting apart from Scarlet Moon as they had before, she convinced herself to show her vulnerable side.
Now, she was the one acting spoiled, while Scarlet Moon seemed like the mature sister.
“Are you heading back to the surface?” Luo Shuangyue chose to ignore the sisters’ somewhat reversed dynamic; as long as they were happy, that was all that mattered.
“Yes, we have a three-day holiday, and then we’ll come back.” When Luo Shuangyue asked about business, Crimson Core immediately dropped the fake tears and answered seriously.
They’d fought in space long enough—it was time to rest for a bit.
“Scarlet Moon and I are among the first group going down. The others will follow in batches,” Crimson Core continued.
With the threat of Soul Butterflies looming, the Magic Department couldn’t rotate all the Lunar veterans off at once.
Instead, they’d let part of the Magical Girls rest in shifts, ensuring enough combat power remained above while allowing the weary girls to recover.
But that didn’t have much to do with Luo Shuangyue.
She didn’t have to worry about scheduling—she could go wherever she pleased.
Technically, she was still supposed to be helping with research on the surface for the Magic Department, so it was actually improper for her to be at the Lunar Base at all.
But now that the Teleportation Gate project was finished, the Magic Department would never be so unreasonable as to make Luo Shuangyue work herself to the bone, with no time to rest before throwing her back into battle with Monster Girls in space.
Even the higher-ups wouldn’t feel right about that.
“You must be waiting for Rosemary, right? Then we’ll go first,” Crimson Core guessed the reason for Luo Shuangyue’s lingering.
As for the slightly familiar Magical Girl beside Luo Shuangyue, she didn’t ask.
She wasn’t worried it was anyone dangerous.
“Take care~” After sending off Crimson Core and her sister, Luo Shuangyue checked the time.
“Looks like shift change is coming up soon.”
She turned to Peach, “Don’t you have anything else to do today?”
“Sure do! I’m patrolling with the senior Magical Girls up here,” Peach shook her head, indicating she wasn’t just here for vacation.
Luo Shuangyue’s words reminded her it was time to gather at the rendezvous point.
“Miss Dark Moth, I’ll be off! See you next time!”
The lively, cheerful pink girl flew away. Luo Shuangyue waited about ten more minutes before she finally saw Xia Mo lugging a huge suitcase out from the base.
As soon as she spotted Luo Shuangyue waiting quietly by the Teleportation Gate, Xia Mo rushed over, and under the teasing and envious gazes of the bystanders, gave Luo Shuangyue a big hug.
“Sorry to keep you waiting! Packing up took longer than I thought.”
“It’s fine, but isn’t this a bit much luggage for just a few days’ rest?”
“Of course not! There are so many useful things here.” Xia Mo flashed a mysterious smile.
Her vacation was specially approved by the Full Bloom-Class Magical Girls, and in a way, it wasn’t really a vacation at all.
Because she had a mission from the seniors.
“They said, ‘Keep a close eye on Luo Shuangyue and make sure she actually rests these next few days. Don’t let her worry about anything else.’” Xia Mo pressed down on Luo Shuangyue’s shoulders, grinning.
Her task was to help Luo Shuangyue relax—by whatever means necessary.
“Haha, the seniors are being overly cautious! I’m not a workaholic—I’m not going to work myself to the point of coughing up blood!”
“Oh? I’m not sure how believable that is, coming from you.”
