After returning to her room, Jiang Lai collapsed weakly onto the bed.
Today had simply been too exhausting.
She feared that for the next two days, she wouldn’t have the energy to think about anything else—she just wanted to lie in bed, rest properly, and process the disgust that Si Yina had left her with.
As long as she did it three times, just three times, she and Si Yina would have nothing to do with each other anymore.
Jiang Lai kept silently repeating this to herself.
Maybe it was because she hadn’t rested at all yesterday—she fell asleep not long after lying down.
Jiang Lai slept deeply, curled up on her side, quiet and still, her breathing even and soft.
Yet the shadow Si Yina cast on her today was too great. Even in her sleep, Jiang Lai’s beautiful brows remained slightly furrowed, her soft black hair falling down to make her pale skin look even more fragile and pitiful.
Under the blanket, Jiang Lai’s legs tightly hugged a pillow.
If someone was holding her right now, Jiang Lai would have slept even better.
Chi Yingyu didn’t waste much time cooking. She simply boiled a bowl of noodles, stir-fried two small dishes, and together with the delicacies Jiang Leyi had brought back from outside, it made for a very hearty meal for one.
Carrying her carefully prepared meal, Chi Yingyu opened the door to the room.
The moment she did, her gaze landed on her brother-in-law sleeping on the bed.
Seeing him asleep, Chi Yingyu immediately moved more lightly, carefully placing the meal on the room’s table, before tiptoeing to stand by Jiang Lai’s bedside.
When Jiang Lai slept, she looked so fragile, her face soft, showing a longing for care that melted Chi Yingyu’s heart.
Without even realizing it, Chi Yingyu reached out and gently stroked Jiang Lai. At that moment, her own heart thudded wildly in her chest.
Even after more than a decade had passed, facing her brother-in-law still made Chi Yingyu’s heart race as crazily as before.
Chi Yingyu didn’t know what her brother-in-law had been up to today.
She hadn’t gotten up late, but when she woke after ten, the whole family was gone—her niece and brother-in-law had both left the house.
So she was left home alone, falling into the situation of being alone in an empty room.
Chi Yingyu stared dazedly at her sleeping brother-in-law.
By the time she came back to her senses from his charm, she had already bent down and kissed him on impulse.
The kiss was light and quick, like a dragonfly skimming the water, their lips only briefly touching before separating.
Chi Yingyu didn’t dare do more, afraid she’d fall into a whirlpool of desire and wouldn’t know how much time she’d waste in it.
She turned to look at the still steaming meal—letting her brother-in-law have a hot meal was the most important thing right now.
So, after that light kiss, Chi Yingyu gently woke her brother-in-law.
Jiang Lai, awakened, was still dazed, as if her mind hadn’t started up completely.
She could only move according to her sister-in-law’s instructions.
When Chi Yingyu fed her, telling her to open her mouth, Jiang Lai obediently closed it, and after she finished eating, she even tilted her head slightly for Chi Yingyu to wipe her mouth.
When her stomach was warm and the hunger had completely disappeared, Jiang Lai finally shook off her drowsiness.
Although she still wanted to nap a bit more, looking at her little sister-in-law sitting by the bed, Jiang Lai asked the question she’d been timidly keeping in her heart.
“Yingyu, what do you think a girl’s first time feels like?”
Jiang Lai wasn’t a child. As a father, she had long since grown used to these kinds of things, and had experienced them herself—she was thoroughly a healthy adult.
Her past was almost ridiculously clean, and the only person she’d ever loved and slept with was her Wife, Chi Yingyu’s elder sister.
In theory, she had long ago lost her innocence, so why did she feel so afraid and even repulsed now?
Maybe it was because all her experiences before had been as a man—those couldn’t be applied to her current situation.
Now that Jiang Lai was a woman, what she faced was completely different.
This time, everything was the reverse of what it had been.
As a man, she’d already experienced all this, but as a woman, she was still completely inexperienced, so being scared and resistant was perfectly normal.
The only thing even remotely similar was when Xu Ruobing had forced her down and held her abdomen, kneeling on the floor—so she was truly curious about what a first time really felt like.
Back then, during her first time with her Wife, even though they’d been very gentle, no matter how careful or well prepared, it was impossible not to feel pain.
Seeing her Wife enduring the pain during the process had made her heart ache.
Jiang Lai and her Wife’s first two nights together hadn’t gone smoothly—not because of any physical or health problem, but because it was both their first times, and Jiang Lai cherished her Wife so much that at the slightest sign of discomfort, she’d stop everything and just hold her.
Jiang Lai never wanted to do anything that made her Wife suffer.
Wasn’t it just her own physical desire? That meant nothing compared to her Wife’s pain.
Jiang Lai cherished her Wife too much.
So much so that she didn’t dare to take the initiative until she’d fully mastered the theory, afraid of hurting her again.
But it took her too long to study, and in the end, her Wife couldn’t bear it anymore.
It could be said that the third night, it was her Wife who pushed her down and seduced her forcefully.
Even now, so much time later, Jiang Lai could still vaguely recall some of the details, and her face flushed bright red.
Because of her Wife’s pain back then, Jiang Lai was now filled with resistance about what she was going to face next.
Even as a man—even as a former man—she really didn’t want to be the one pressed down on the bed.
But she had no idea what Si Yina would do to her, or what means would be used between them.
With everything unknown, all Jiang Lai could do was keep preparing herself mentally, so that even when it came, she wouldn’t lose her composure—at the very least, she couldn’t lose in terms of spirit.
Just as Jiang Lai wanted to ask her little sister-in-law for advice, Chi Yingyu looked troubled—for her nearly thirty years of experience consisted only of her own hand.
