Laxana kicked the door open, shattering it with a surge of fury and a shower of wood splinters, and charged in like a cannonball.
“Wendy… are you here? I came to save you!”
Behind the screen, Wendy and Yekaterina’s hearts skipped a beat in unison.
It’s over.
Barbecue time.
Wendy’s mind went blank, forced to watch as Laxana searched the bedchamber.
Miss Klein looked like an enraged lioness, her sharp gaze sweeping every corner of the room.
Her beautiful legs, clad in white high-heeled boots, impatiently kicked over the low stool by the bed.
Every sound was like a heavy hammer pounding on the hearts of Wendy and the Little Queen.
The two of them were squeezed into the narrow space behind the screen, skin pressed tightly together, barely daring to breathe.
Wendy could even feel the faint trembling of the Little Queen’s body and the delicate fragrance of a young girl wafting from her.
The scent was nice, but he’d like to live to enjoy it!
Laxana’s gaze finally landed on the messy bed.
She walked over in a few steps, scrutinized it, then suddenly bent down and picked up a strand of deep blue hair from the silky sheets.
Miss Klein’s eyes instantly turned so cold it felt like the air would freeze.
This color…
There was only one person in the entire palace who had it.
But he absolutely shouldn’t be in the Queen’s bedroom…
Through the gap in the screen, Wendy’s pupils shrank sharply.
He saw Laxana holding the strand of hair, the anger fading from her face, replaced by an icy calm that was even more terrifying.
She stood in silence for a moment, then suddenly turned and strode toward the door without looking back.
Gone?
Just like that?
Wendy and the Little Queen looked at each other, disbelief in their eyes.
“Phew.”
Yekaterina let out a long breath, her body going limp as she leaned on Wendy, and laughed softly in triumph.
“See? I told you she wouldn’t find us…”
But before the words even left her mouth, a thunderous roar exploded.
“Got you!”
Laxana’s figure shot back like a ghost, sliding straight to the front of the screen and yanking it up with both hands!
Crash—
The huge screen crashed down, exposing everything hidden behind it.
Wendy and the Little Queen were huddled together, clinging to each other in post-crisis relief, now instantly replaced by terror.
All of it was laid bare before Miss Klein’s eyes, which were blazing with fury.
The air froze.
“Ye! Ka! Te! Ri! Na!”
Laxana’s gaze locked past the stunned Wendy, pinning the Little Queen in place.
Each word seemed squeezed out from between her teeth.
“I’ve been wondering—who could torture Wendy so badly with ice? Thinking it over, who else in the whole kingdom has that power and the chance to get close to him besides you?!”
“Miss Klein, watch your words!”
Yekaterina, after her initial panic, quickly regained her composure as a Queen.
She straightened her back, trying to assert her authority.
“Are you interrogating a Queen right now?”
“Queen?”
Laxana actually laughed in anger, stepping forward and jabbing her finger almost into Yekaterina’s nose.
“All I see is a shameless brat stealing her own sister’s man!”
“You!”
A trace of panic flickered in Yekaterina’s eyes, but it was instantly replaced by even deeper anger.
“What I do is none of your business, outsider!”
“Heh! Today, I’m going to teach you a lesson for Astreia, you shameless little sister!”
With a furious shout, Laxana lunged.
Considering the opponent was the Queen and Astreia’s real sister, and that her magic was almost depleted from the mad dash back, Laxana didn’t use any lethal spells.
She chose the most primitive, most satisfying method.
Hair pulling!
“Ah! How dare you pull my hair!”
Yekaterina screamed and fought back without hesitation, reaching for Laxana’s pretty face with both hands!
In an instant, the two became a tangled mess, rolling across the expensive carpet.
No dazzling magic, just the sounds of nails scraping, hair tearing, and furious, ragged breathing.
The Little Queen also refrained from using ice magic, as if by tacit agreement.
She swore she would defeat this damned woman today in her own domain—hand-to-hand combat!
Wendy stood by dumbly, watching the scene unfold—a vivid display of violent beauty—and had only one thought in his mind.
Maybe… I should go get some sunflower seeds?
“Laxana!”
But at the crucial moment, Wendy remembered the important matter and shouted,
“Didn’t Astreia come back with you?”
“I’m not an idiot!”
Laxana yelled back without turning her head, still gripping Yekaterina’s hair.
“If Astreia knew about this, she’d lose her mind! I left her at Blackshield Fortress to manage the surrendered troops!”
At that very moment of distraction.
Yekaterina’s eyes flashed.
She seized the opportunity, twisted her body, powered by her legs, and flipped Laxana beneath her, locking her down with both hands clamped around her neck like iron tongs from behind!
“Des…picable!”
Laxana’s face reddened as she struggled to curse out the words.
She fought back at once, grabbing the Little Queen’s shoulders and pushing outward, while wrapping her legs around her waist to pin her in place.
For a moment, they formed a bizarre locked position, each restraining the other, unable to gain the upper hand.
Their fair skin flushed pink from exertion, their intertwined limbs forming a scene that could rival a pay-per-view art film.
“Wendy, why are you just standing there? Get over here and help me beat her up!”
Laxana was the first to call for help.
“Prince Wendy, don’t forget you’re still poisoned. Only I have the antidote!”
The Little Queen threatened back fiercely.
“You know who you should help, don’t you?”
“Uh…”
His Highness fell into a dilemma.
If he helped Laxana, he’d die of poison.
If he helped the Little Queen… who knew what that lunatic would do to him?
As he wavered between duty and survival, a familiar heat suddenly surged from his lower abdomen, instantly flooding his body.
That damned “poison”!
Its effects were kicking in again!
Wendy felt his whole body burning, his blood on fire, and the faces, necks, and legs of the two women—flushed from the struggle—seemed magnified countless times in his vision.
His reason was rapidly crumbling.
He looked at the Little Queen, the closest to him, and, unable to control himself, took a step forward.
“Haha!”
Laxana cheered, thinking Wendy had chosen her side.
“Justice will always triumph over evil!”
But Yekaterina’s expression changed dramatically as she struggled even harder.
“Prince Wendy! Don’t do anything crazy! Get a hold of yourself!”
Wendy remained silent, unnatural red flickering in his eyes, as he stepped closer.
Under the two women’s astonished and uncertain gazes, he slowly reached out toward the nearest slender leg.
“W-wait! I… oh!!!”
Yekaterina’s struggles and cries instantly turned into an uncontrollable, soul-shattering moan.
At the same time, Laxana, still holding her, stiffened, then let out a similarly strange, trembling whimper, her body going limp as all strength left her.
The Empathic Link had launched its most precise backstab at the most critical moment.
The room was filled with a strange, pink atmosphere, punctuated by two distinct yet equally disturbing voices…
