“That’s it, I’m heading out, Ji 7.”
Whenever her roommate was suddenly barged into the room by her murderous little girlfriend and hugged tightly, Mi Xiaolu, sitting beside her own small bed, always felt utterly helpless.
“Don’t go! Save me!” the roommate would plead.
“Whatever.” That was how her murderous little girlfriend replied.
Mi Xiaolu glanced at the two of them, then at the sky outside the window.
“I’m just going to go out.”
It was rare that it was still early; the sky wasn’t dark yet. Going out for a walk wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Mi Xiaolu left, and the helpless one was left to become Chuyao.
“Wait a moment, I have to get to the bottom of this what exactly is going on?”
Xu Chuyao struggled to push her girlfriend’s arms off.
“I didn’t do anything, so why are you treating me like this?”
Chuyao hadn’t done anything wrong, so why was Shen Ning so unreasonable?
“You didn’t do anything?” Shen Ning looked at her coldly, her pretty face stern. “You don’t even know yourself?”
Xu Chuyao was momentarily stunned.
She had originally taken the initiative to be the little white-haired girl’s girlfriend just so she could say things like this, leaving her confused, anxious, and angry.
Yet now, Shen Ning was the one telling her off.
“I really didn’t do anything… right?”
Thinking carefully, aside from quietly telling Xiaolu some funny stories about Shen Cha in the dormitory, Chuyao really hadn’t done anything wrong these past few days.
So Chuyao was innocent!
“Then just assume I’m purely trying to mess with you,” Shen Ning tossed out, then began making her move.
“What’s this, wail wail wail… Hey, don’t blow!”
I’ve blown the night breeze you’ve blown, so does that mean we’re embracing each other?
The song was being sung by Broken Shadow, though it wasn’t noon but almost dawn. Nobody cared whether it was sung or not at this point, and the other two were seriously observing.
“That’s right, that’s how you do it. Blow with all your might.” The Sexually Repressed Shadow rubbed its fists together, “Rotate clockwise, rotate counterclockwise, inhale rotation, exhale rotation!”
Milky Ning Reflection was holding a little notebook, watching carefully and taking notes: “Chuyao said she couldn’t do it, then said she had ascended. Based on logic, if you can’t, you ascend; if you can, you descend. This indicates Chuyao is a kind of gravitational pull…”
Xu Chuyao didn’t know so many people were watching her suffer, but she really was about to give up.
“Wail xian wa wa wa wa!”
Chuyao believed this was the most unfair beating she had ever endured, ending amidst swirling winds and floods.

The next morning, Xu Chuyao opened her eyes to a brand-new day.
“Good morning, Xu Chuyao.” Her roommate greeted her. “Sorry I couldn’t stay and help you yesterday afternoon.”
“It’s okay, I understand.”
She said it just like that, and her roommate listened just like that. Both knew staying wouldn’t have done much; Xiaolu simply couldn’t stop Shen Ning. A First Rank fighting a Third Rank too laughable.
Just like now, Xiaolu wasn’t really hugging her, just going through the motions.
“By the way, why didn’t you go to class?” Xu Chu Qiong suddenly remembered, “Hasn’t school already started?”
A student’s duty was to attend class, after all.
“Today’s a holiday.” Mi Xiaolu lay on the head of the bed, “They said they had to adjust the curriculum.”
“Adjust the curriculum?”
“Yeah, just the schedule for next Monday. They said it’s to give us a fresh experience. After that, it’ll go back to normal.”
Next week? One whole week?
Xu Chuyao roughly understood.
“What do you think our classes will be like next week?” Mi Xiaolu asked her roommate for her opinion.
“They should be more advanced, grand, and classy.”
Mi Xiaolu quickly realized her roommate wasn’t joking, because the very next day, Saturday the class held a rehearsal.
Many teachers from other classes sat in the back, auditing.
“Yes, Second Rank Spirit Power users’ external release causes airflow disturbances that follow certain aerodynamics. Therefore, the Academy offers related physics electives to help everyone create their own Second Rank techniques.” Teacher Hu, giving theory class, looked expectantly at a girl, “Xu Chuyao, are you interested?”
“No.” The Academy’s most beautiful Thunder Girl shrugged, “I’m at the peak of Second Rank, half a step into Third Rank. I won’t need that.”
“Ahem, I see. That makes sense. However, Xu Chuyao, the Academy is considering adding some advanced electives to help everyone understand Elemental Traits…”
At the back of the classroom, Class Advisor Yu Jing frowned.
“The school will add such courses? I’ve never heard of that, because the school never considers education issues for Third Rank Spirit Power users.”
It was like middle schools during the Lingqian era: they’d give bonus points for city- or province-level math competitions, but nobody talked about adding points for Nobel Prizes.
“No way, even if they wanted to, they couldn’t find teachers.” Principal Lü said sitting beside her. “But this conversation was great; it definitely has to be kept for next week’s Open Class.”
So domineering. He couldn’t imagine how shocked other academy delegations would be hearing this.
“Back on topic, today we’ll talk about practical considerations for Second Rank Spirit Power users in combat. As everyone knows, our school has many outstanding students who have once…”
Mi Xiaolu quietly yawned, elbowed her deskmate, and whispered:
“So, we’re learning this stuff next week?”
“Is it useful? She’s only First Rank, and almost everyone in the class and even the whole school is First Rank.”
Xu Chuyao revealed a mysterious smile.
“Xiaolai, congratulations, you’ve just learned another World Truth.”
The short-haired girl blinked slightly. “World Truth?”
“That’s right. Another World Truth is that although many things seem reasonable, in reality, all reason cannot compare to the whims of those in power.”
Chuyao had once again been given the chance to tell a story, and this time she was personally experiencing it, making it all the more immersive.
Mi Xiaolu sighed silently.
Sigh, this world is really rotten.
Actually, Xu Chuyao felt a bit sorry for Principal Lü. While there was some whimsy, most of it was well thought out.
Mainly, he had noticed a problem: judging from the cultivation results of Xu Chuyao and Shen Ning, the stuff taught in class didn’t seem all that useful. Besides, Fifth Grade would cover this anyway, so it was good to preview it now.
In case some students got interested and worked harder on their cultivation.
The next class was cultural studies. Compared to Teacher Hu’s somewhat flamboyant style, Teacher Li Xueli performed a talent show on stage, effortlessly reciting poems, essays, and prose. Even the students thought she was trying a bit too hard.
After class, Li Xueli quietly approached Xu Chu Qiong to share her feelings from recent days.
“I heard about the big things you did over the winter break. My goodness, Xu Chuyao is really my most outstanding student, although I’m not your best teacher… I mean, how could the Clown Gang think my life is miserable under these circumstances?”
“Yes, you’re right.”
Xu Chuyao comforted the emotionally charged teacher, assuring her better days were ahead.
Another highlight of the Open Class was the Third Rank student who broke the school record: Shen Ning, who was surprisingly not asked many questions during class.
“That’s called maintaining mystery and deliberately creating distance,” Sexually Repressed Shadow lay against the window, “Chuqiong once said, if people understand you from afar, you should keep your distance. If they get too close, understanding will gradually be deconstructed.”
Broken Shadow nodded. “Chuyao definitely said that.”
Milky Ning Reflection tilted her head. “I don’t know, Chuyao never told me these thoughtful things; she just tells me what to do.”
“Please, when you have time, try using your brain.”
Nope. If you can avoid thinking, why bother? As the pillow princess of ideology, Milky Ning Reflection kept her own pace.
Friday’s rehearsal day ended, and the school was very satisfied. The students also felt good; after all, a class without exam pressure and something different was better than normal classes.
Only Mi Xiaolu lamented that this world was truly rotten.
Next week would be lively and possibly busy at school, so on the weekend, Shen Ning went to Food Finger Romance to buy pineapple water for herself and her girlfriend.
Red Sister was there today as well, warmly welcoming the young girl’s return.
“How’s your relationship with your girlfriend recently? Did you learn anything from that book I gave you last time?”
“Much better.” Shen Ning answered both questions in turn, “I learned a lot.”
Red Sister was pleased and took the chance to mention that the book’s advanced tutorials were available to borrow.
But the girl waved her hands repeatedly, “No need, I have my own method now.”
“Hmph? That’s great. Can you share your new method with your other sisters?”
“…That might be a bit difficult for others.”
Anyway, she bought the drinks and brought them to her girlfriend’s dorm. Drinking chocolate milk every day wasn’t good; sometimes fresh fruit was needed.
The weekend passed quickly, and a new week began.
On Monday, the Central City airport was bustling. Small passenger planes from various places landed one after another, and student delegations from seven or eight Spirit Power academies, led by their teachers, walked out of the airport.
Not every academy had sent representatives. Some didn’t come for their own reasons—for example, Academy of True Spirits and Freden Academy were busy preparing for a school anniversary party to boost morale. Others didn’t come either because the journey was too far or they weren’t familiar with Shengling Academy.
Among these delegations, students from the Royal Academy gathered around their team leader. Among them was a seemingly petite girl.
“Teacher Betty, do you know anyone here?”
“Exactly.”
