Chapter 12 : The Pure White Knight’s Surveillance (Part 1)

“I’m not your teammate anymore. If I want to insult you, I will. Why wait for New Year’s to do it?”
Samimi hurled a snarky modern internet-style insult at the female knight, leaving her defenseless.

“You’re no longer a noble, and you still dare give us attitude? Even if we killed you now, no one would care.”
Witch Bemore shrieked arrogantly.

“Feel free to try.”
Samimi wasn’t about to back down. Without warning, she picked up a rock and smashed it against Bemore’s skull, knocking her pointed hat clean off.

No one had even noticed when she picked up the stone. Was this… another modern combat tactic?

“Oww! Are you a child?!”
Bemore jumped in fright.

“You can’t even handle a ground dragon. All you’re good for is stealing my kill. Fine, I let you have it out of generosity, and now you’ve got the nerve to point fingers at me?”
Samimi sneered mockingly.

“You’re asking for death!”
Knight Fabiana drew her sword on the spot.

“I’m leaving. Let’s see if you dare try anything.”
Samimi tugged the reins, turned her horse around, and swaggered off on her big-headed steed.

Elf archer Clos even drew her bow, aiming at Samimi’s back.

“Don’t.”
Hero Laigaiyas pressed down the bow.

“Hero, are we really just letting her leave?” Fabiana asked.

The hero didn’t answer immediately.

She glanced at the corpse of the Steelback Dragon. Samimi and a handful of kingdom knights had already broken its skull and stabbed its eye.

All they did afterward was clean up.

“Anna, I originally hoped to persuade Samimi to come back. But thanks to your big mouth and terrible temper, you’ve driven her off. So now this matter is in your hands.”
Laigaiyas patted her on the shoulder and dumped the whole issue on her.

“Huh? Me?” Fabiana was dumbfounded.

“Of course it’s you. You messed it up, so you fix it. Learn to control that temper. We’ll return to the capital and wait for your good news.”

With that, the Hero and her two teammates turned and left.

“Damn you, Hero! You totally set me up!”

Fabiana stood there, trembling with rage.

She thought about Samimi’s smug little face and knew none of the others wanted this errand. Now the Hero found the perfect excuse to hand off this unwanted burden.

Meanwhile, Samimi rode home looking smug.

She knew those ladies wouldn’t dare lay a hand on her.

The Hero’s party was bound by their honor. They would never allow anything to tarnish their reputations or histories.

So even if they hated her, they wouldn’t attack her from behind—not because they were noble, but because there were witnesses: the kingdom knights and the light cavalry.

If something happened to her, those witnesses would ask questions, and they couldn’t explain it away.

So she’d vented, insulted them thoroughly, and walked off feeling completely refreshed.

Samimi had done it on purpose—being annoying would ensure they wouldn’t come clinging to her again. Those four Hero party women were too proud to keep chasing someone who gave them the cold shoulder.

What annoyed her most, was what her morality system displayed after the dragon died:

But for days in Sweet Melon Town, curing townsfolk only earned her 0.00X points each time. Even after days of effort, she barely gained one or two points. It was painfully slow to level up.

So even with her help in the dragon fight, she only gained three. But saving Niubao alone gave her 15.

That meant saving Niubao was a much more significant event than she realized.
Though Niubao seemed like just a sweet, obedient kid, maybe there was more to her.

Lost in thought, Samimi returned to Sweet Melon Town on horseback.

The townsfolk had begun to return, now that the dragon threat was over. Life returned to normal.

“Sister Samimi!”
Niubao ran from behind the iron gate and charged straight into her arms like a loyal puppy.

“It’s all okay now. Let’s eat… actually, it’s probably midnight snack time.”
Samimi’s stomach growled—she was starving.

She reached out to ruffle Niubao’s hair but realized she had to lift her hand higher—she’d grown fast.

“I’ll cook, Sister Samimi. You’ve had a hard day. Please rest.”
Niubao didn’t wait for a response and bustled into the kitchen.

A perfect little house-husband. No wonder transmigration novels were so popular—this was the life. Even if the credit for her hard work was stolen, her real goal had been achieved: protecting her home.

Samimi sat down to meditate and recover while waiting for food.

After eating, she resumed meditation and training. Another quiet day passed.

She looked over and saw the little bed next to hers was empty. Niubao must’ve gotten up to answer the door.

The bell stopped, but a sense of unease filled her.

She leapt up, grabbed her demon-slaying sword from the bedside, and rushed out of the cottage, circling the chapel toward the front gate.

“Who are you? Can you remove your helmet? I can’t let suspicious strangers inside.”

Sure enough, Niubao was standing at the gate, arguing with someone and refusing to let them in.

The local church usually served as a healing clinic, open to townsfolk—but this was way too early, not business hours yet.

Samimi cast a clarity-enhancing spell to see from afar.

At the gate stood a fully armored Pure White Knight.

She drew a sharp breath. Even with the helmet on, she immediately recognized her.

It was Fabiana, the Pure White Knight, clad in a custom-fitted white armor for a young maiden knight.
Her helmet had twin wings and exuded a commanding aura.

But Samimi had never seen Fabiana wear a helmet before.

As a beautiful knight, Fabiana always showed off her face. She was a knight who hated helmets.

So for her to show up wearing one now?

Definitely up to no good.

Was the Hero’s party really planning to silence her permanently now?
