“Sect-wide Tournament…”
Ye Luqing began searching her memories for this part of the plot.
In the original timeline, after Ye Luqing’s death, Xiao Qingxuan lost all interest in participating in the Sect-wide Tournament and instead devoted her time to searching for a way to resurrect Ye Luqing.
As a result, there was no actual Sect-wide Tournament arc in the original work; it was only mentioned briefly in the background.
The Sect-wide Tournament was divided into singles and doubles. During the years when Xiao Qingxuan broke through to the Nascent Soul Realm, she swept the tournament, taking first place and becoming the top disciple of the Xuanxiao Supreme Sect.
As for the doubles, Xiao Qingxuan and Ye Luqing—one a Sword Cultivator, the other a Formation Cultivator—were both geniuses, and together they took first place three years in a row.
Seeing Ye Luqing deep in thought, Ying Qianqian hurriedly said beside her:
“Sorry, Senior Sister Ye, I forgot to introduce it to you.”
That afternoon, after leaving Ye Luqing’s courtyard, she happened to run into her master, Bai Yuhan, who was returning to Biluofeng and learned that Ye Luqing had lost her memory.
“Every year, the sect holds a Sect-wide Tournament. Disciples from every peak participate. The tournament is mainly divided into singles and doubles, and the disciples are grouped according to their types.”
“Disciples who achieve good results receive rewards. For example, Outer Sect Disciples who rank high can enter the Inner Sect, and some Inner Sect Disciples who perform outstandingly might even be chosen as Personal Disciples.”
“The highest cultivation allowed is the Nascent Soul Realm, but Outer Sect Disciples are usually at the Foundation Establishment Stage, while Inner Sect Disciples are typically at the Golden Core Realm.”
Ye Luqing nodded slightly.
What Ying Qianqian said was even more detailed than what she knew.
“So the limit is Nascent Soul Realm… That means Senior Sister Xiao can’t participate anymore, right?”
In the past, she had always partnered with Xiao Qingxuan in the doubles of the Sect-wide Tournament, but now that Xiao Qingxuan’s cultivation had reached half-step Divine Transformation, she was ineligible according to the rules.
Ying Qianqian nodded, then added a bit embarrassedly:
“Not just Chief Xiao… Senior Sister Bai can’t participate either.”
“That’s right.”
Ye Luqing nodded. Senior Sister Bai He had already broken through to Divine Transformation last year, so now only the two of them were left among Biluofeng’s Personal Disciples who could participate.
The two continued down the mountain, grabbing a quick meal at Biluofeng’s dining hall.
By the Golden Core Realm, one could complete internal cycles and basically didn’t need to eat; refining True Qi was enough.
But Ye Luqing was used to three meals a day. Even if her body didn’t need it, she couldn’t change the habit right away.
Just as the two were about to reach the foot of the mountain, a commotion suddenly erupted up ahead.
Bang!
Clang!
First came a sharp sword cry, followed by the heavy thud of someone hitting the ground.
“Ugh…”
“That was way too harsh!”
“You people from Heavenly Sword Peak are going too far!”
The scent of blood began to spread. Even without seeing it firsthand, it was clear the one who fell was badly injured.
Biluofeng’s disciples voiced their dissatisfaction one after another, but in response, a surge of powerful sword Qi swept over them.
Swish, swish.
The aura of the Nascent Soul Realm made everyone fall silent.
Once the crowd quieted, a cold female voice rang out.
“Biluofeng set up the arena, which means you can be challenged.”
“If you don’t want to end up like this, you can hang a surrender plaque.”
With that, the crowd broke into another round of indignant protests.
Each peak’s arena was to select disciples to represent them in the tournament—a contest among their own, really.
While Outer Peak disciples weren’t forbidden from visiting, even if they did, it was usually just friendly sparring.
But Heavenly Sword Peak was being aggressive, every move deadly—this really was too much.
The three disciples from Heavenly Sword Peak consisted of two at the peak of Golden Core Realm and one at the early Nascent Soul Realm.
Though furious, the Biluofeng disciples truly weren’t a match for these three.
“We from Heavenly Sword Peak are all Inner Sect Disciples, and so are your representatives from Biluofeng,” the leading male Sword Cultivator raised his brows.
“Yeah, that’s right. It’s not our fault you’re not as skilled,” the female Sword Cultivator beside him chimed in with a grin.
The Biluofeng disciples were instantly incensed and stepped forward to protest:
“You Sword Cultivators bullying us Formation Cultivators—how is that impressive?”
“Yeah, why don’t you go fight the Spell Cultivators from Myriad Arts Peak if you’re so tough?”
“Despicable Sword Cultivators, don’t come begging us when your formations fail next time!”
It was common knowledge that Formation Cultivators had the weakest combat power.
Against Sword Cultivators, Spell Cultivators, or Physical Cultivators of the same realm, they usually just got beaten up.
Especially in arena matches where there was no time to set up Arrays in advance—Formation Cultivators were at a huge disadvantage.
By the time they finished setting up a Defense Formation, their opponent’s Killing Move would already be upon them, leaving no time to arrange offensive Arrays.
Their only chance was to hide behind a Defense Formation and wear down the opponent’s True Qi and stamina.
But against Sword Cultivators—fast, fierce, and ruthless—the odds of victory in the same realm were almost nil.
Clang, clang!
Two more surges of sword Qi, the blades sharp and fierce, carrying the aura of the Nascent Soul Realm, once again silenced the Biluofeng disciples.
The two Golden Core Sword Cultivators stepped aside, allowing the Nascent Soul female Sword Cultivator to step forward.
“I’ve already fought the Spell Cultivators from Myriad Arts Peak.”
“After finishing with Biluofeng’s juniors, we’ll challenge the arenas of Distant Clouds and Falling Rain Peak too.”
She shook her True Qi, her blood surging, and the lingering aura of spells around her showed she’d just fought with Spell Cultivators.
Myriad Arts Peak was the domain of the sect’s Grand Elder, and together with Heavenly Sword Peak and Biluofeng, they were known as the Xuanxiao Three Peaks.
The Peak Masters of these three peaks were all Dao Sovereigns of the Integration Realm, and their disciples were recognized as the strongest in Xuanxiao Supreme Sect.
But unlike the Formation Cultivators of Biluofeng, Spell Cultivators were formidable in battle, adept at both offense and defense.
In combat, Spell Cultivators were no less capable than Sword Cultivators.
At her words, the Biluofeng disciples fell silent again.
If that was the case, then the actions of these Heavenly Sword Peak disciples weren’t so unreasonable after all.
After all, they weren’t just targeting Biluofeng—they were challenging all the disciples of Xuanxiao Supreme Sect.
It’s not that I’m picking on Biluofeng, it’s just that all eighteen peaks are trash.
“Chuanhe, the Personal Disciple from Myriad Arts Peak, fought me to a draw.”
“Even though I’m just an Inner Sect Disciple, I’ll accept challenges from the Personal Disciples of any peak.”
“If Biluofeng doesn’t want to end up utterly humiliated, have your Personal Disciples come out and fight.”
The Nascent Soul female Sword Cultivator stepped forward, her sword intent surging like a tidal wave.
Even after a fierce battle with a Personal Disciple of the same realm, her fighting spirit hadn’t waned; it had only grown sharper, like a sword honed to a razor edge.
“Senior Brother Du, w-what do we do?”
The Biluofeng disciples all looked to the red-robed youth at their head—the strongest among the Inner Sect Disciples, and, in the absence of Personal Disciples, the acting leader of Biluofeng’s disciples.
The red-robed youth, known as Du Ze, gave a bitter smile. What could he do? Given Biluofeng’s current state, even if the Personal Disciples were here, they wouldn’t be a match for Heavenly Sword Peak’s Ruyi Pei.
By other peaks’ standards, for Ruyi Pei to reach the Nascent Soul Realm in six years would be considered outstanding talent—if not the Peak Master’s Personal Disciple, then certainly an Elder’s.
But Heavenly Sword Peak was far too competitive, and with a sword genius like Xiao Qingxuan around, there still wasn’t a second Peak Master’s Personal Disciple.
“Do we really have to give up…”
Du Ze thought to himself.
But in the next instant, a lazy voice suddenly sounded from outside the arena.
“This challenge—Biluofeng’s Personal Disciple accepts.”
