Sophia was crossing the Northern Mountains for the first time, entering a world entirely belonging to humans, and she didn’t understand much about the situation.
The old man didn’t say where they were going, and she didn’t ask.
“Excuse me, is Water Well Town far from here?”
“To the noble and beautiful young lady, it’s not far—just about… sixty or seventy li. You’ll be there soon.”
After answering Sophia’s question, the old man didn’t dare to even breathe heavily, keeping his forehead pressed firmly against the ground. Sophia looked on with some helplessness.
Humans truly were strange creatures.
She quietly spoke to those kneeling people, “I mean no harm to you. You may leave.”
With that, Sophia turned and waved to Enya and Nina in the distance, signaling them to move. Enya took the lead, and upon seeing her go, Nina quickly ran ahead.
When Nina approached, their breaths became shallow.
As Enya walked over, they nearly held their breath, and if she had moved any slower, perhaps they would have passed out from holding it in.
The three bypassed the kneeling human civilians and continued toward the Water Well Town they had mentioned.
The group of humans remained prostrate for quite a while before someone dared to lift their head and realized Enya, Sophia, and Nina were gone. Yet, seeing everyone still kneeling, he didn’t dare to speak.
After a while longer, more people looked up and whispers started spreading. The old man in charge slowly raised his head to look around. Confirming they had truly left, he finally said to the group,
“Get up, get up. We must move quickly.”
At his words, the crowd stood, wiping mud and dust from their foreheads. After kneeling so long, several fainted upon standing. The old man called over the stronger ones to help, and only then did they accept the aid.
They carried their belongings one by one, faces haggard and expressions numb. Hearing the old man’s command, they followed on.
Meanwhile, the three continued down the road.
Nina walked in front, Sophia in the middle, and Enya at the rear. Each was silent as they went. After some time, they stopped again.
Nina, at the forefront, gripped the twin swords hidden beneath her robe.
In the distance, a group of mounted soldiers approached. They were clad in immaculate, gleaming silver armor, not a scratch on any plate.
The sound of hooves grew louder as this imposing band of human soldiers encircled Enya and the two elves.
Then a man with a soft, almost effeminate face stepped forward. He scanned the three before his gaze landed on Enya.
“Hey, where did you alien come from?”
Enya ignored him.
The man narrowed his eyes and called out in a low voice,
“A female alien, too! Take off your helmet and show yourself to me!”
Seeing they were targeting Enya, Nina slightly loosened her grip on her short swords, though never leaving her hands. If they dared harm Sophia in any way—
Before she could finish her thought, the man shifted his gaze to Sophia.
“You too, take off your hat. I need to verify your identities. If you’re here illegally… hmph, you’ll have a hard time later!”
As soon as he spoke, the soldiers understood the meaning and laughed.
Suddenly, Nina’s magical aura exploded forth. The elegant elven girl beheaded the man who had spoken moments before in the blink of an eye.
Two short swords gleamed sharply—one emerald green, the other icy blue.
With her hood falling back, Nina’s golden hair spilled free, pale gold magic swirling around her as the elven girl danced through the human main army like a butterfly in flight.
Wherever she passed, crimson splattered, yet not a single drop tainted the elven girl.
Facing dozens of armored soldiers, Nina’s slaughter was as effortless as picking flowers. From drawing her swords to sheathing them took ten seconds flat.
Sophia watched the sea of red but frowned deeply.
Nina returned to Sophia’s side, turning her proud face toward Enya, who had not lifted a finger, holding her head high. She puffed out her chest, expression unreadable, and said,
“Hmph, stinky Dragon Princess, I didn’t even use my full strength!”
“Nina is amazing~”
Enya praised the little one, even giving her a thumbs up.
With Nina’s Fifth-Tier strength, facing these one- or two-tier soldiers with no combat skills, ten seconds was extremely fast—and indeed, she hadn’t used her full power.
Nina didn’t use any sword skills the entire time, only displaying raw strength and speed. If she had used sword skills, she could probably have finished in under a second.
One second…
Enya narrowed her eyes. One second was fast, but for her…
Too slow!
After earning Enya’s approval, Nina put her hands on her hips, smiling smugly. However, her pride was short-lived, as Sophia suddenly punched her in the head, clearly displeased.
“Nina, what exactly do you think you’re doing!”
“Uwaa…”
Nina covered her head with both hands, looking pitiful and utterly adorable. Yet around them lay the bodies—disemboweled corpses all at the hands of one elven girl.
Don’t judge by appearances. The same went for elves.
Feeling wronged after being struck, Nina pouted and muttered,
“They clearly had bad intentions toward Sister Sophia.”
“Have you forgotten what I said?”
Sophia was both angry and helpless. If Enya had acted, she wouldn’t have said much, but since it was Nina who made the move, it showed a failure in discipline.
She sighed and scolded,
“Killing is unnecessary. All living beings have lustful and evil thoughts, but you can’t sentence them all to death just because of those thoughts.
“Besides, it would have been enough to kill the one who spoke rudely. Why kill the rest? Just show enough strength, and they won’t bother us again.”
“Oh, I get it~”
Nina spoke playfully, much to Sophia’s annoyance.
Enya watched them silently.
Sophia’s words were well-intentioned and reasonable, but Enya didn’t fully agree.
From this incident, Enya roughly confirmed Sophia was a sheltered noble lady. Though she had learned much of the world’s dangers from books, she was still an innocent girl unfamiliar with the ways of the world.
As for Nina, she acted on instinct and intuition. She clearly understood that killing one meant killing them all—letting even one escape would only cause more trouble for the three going forward. So, she never hesitated to strike decisively.
Among elves, the Forest Elves symbolized conservatism.
Sophia was a Gold Elf but was likely raised by Forest Elves.
Nina was a pure Gold Elf.
Gold Elves were the exact opposite of typical elven impressions—they were passionate, curious, and adventurous, the most radical and progressive among elves.
However, their radical nature had once led to a great cataclysm, seemingly linked to an ancient heavenly event long ago.
Enya silently observed the mischievous Nina.
She quite liked this straightforward little girl who dared to call her “stinky Dragon Princess.”
