That night, in front of Lu Yunze’s room.
Jiang Sui, carrying Xiao Ye, quietly opened the door and saw Lu Yunze sitting at the computer desk, counting his headphones, facing the screen and passionately gaming.
She walked up right to Lu Yunze’s side, yet this guy still didn’t notice her approaching.
“I really don’t get what you guys are talking about. When did I ever pressure you? Cut the nonsense, one more round! Nobody’s allowed to sleep tonight unless we win!”
Ten minutes later—
“Damn it, you guys are useless! How did you let the other team push us over? What’s the point of having you? Fine, I’ll survive for all of us!”
Lu Yunze’s grin was nearly stretching to his ears. Just then, he turned around and saw the little maid sitting on his bed.
Whoosh—
The air froze. The two stared at each other with wide eyes, not saying a word.
It wasn’t until Li Xiaolin and the others greeted him through his headset that Lu Yunze finally turned off the now gray game screen, took off his headphones, and cleared his throat before asking, “How long have you been sitting there?”
“A while.”
Jiang Sui shrugged lightly.
“I thought Young Master called me here just to watch you get wiped by randoms online.”
“What are you talking about? Am I that kind of person?”
Lu Yunze patted his own cheek and closed the headset, when Lin’s voice came directly from the speakers.
“Hey, Big Yun, what’s up? Why aren’t you talking? You’re not mad, right? Come on, don’t rage quit, at least finish this round with us!”
Lu Yunze hurriedly replied that something urgent had come up and quickly hung up the voice chat. Then, with a somewhat awkward cough, he said, “My midnight snack is back.”
“Back already?”
Lu Yunze rarely ordered the servants out at night, except when he wanted a midnight snack.
There was a family rule: if Lu Yunze wanted to eat late at night, only the kitchen staff at home could cook, and no one was allowed to go out and buy food. The servants all worried about getting docked pay for breaking the rules—only Jiang Sui was willing to take the risk and go out to buy it for him.
“Smells amazing. Just from the aroma, I know it’s from my favorite vendor.”
After laying the noodles and milk tea out on the table, Lu Yunze didn’t rush to eat. When he saw Jiang Sui was about to leave the room, he hurriedly pointed at her to stop her.
“Don’t go yet, I have something to say—”
Jiang Sui sat back on the bed.
Turning the cup in his hand, Lu Yunze spoke softly, “What I’m about to say… You can’t tell anyone else.”
“Rest assured, Young Master, I’m a qualified maid. No matter how interesting it is, I won’t talk—unless I really can’t hold it in.”
The warm lighting of the bedroom shone on her face, as if she wore a faint smile.
“If, I’m saying if, Bo Yao and I leave Lan City, do you have any thoughts on that?”
“So it’s about Young Master and Miss going back to Central City?”
“Huh, how did you know?”
Seeing Lu Yunze’s surprised face, Jiang Sui couldn’t help teasing him, “That sort of thing has already been circulating over here for a while. It’s not some big secret.”
“Looks like… I really don’t have any privacy left at all.”
While Lu Yunze was scratching his head in embarrassment, Jiang Sui was still trying to figure out why he was telling her this.
Thinking of what Black Hunter said during the day, she quickly understood what was on Lu Yunze’s mind.
He deliberately sent me out for the midnight snack just to get some time alone with me. After all, Lu Yunze is a shy little virgin—he still needs an excuse to bring up this kind of thing.
Since that’s the case…
“With Young Master and Miss going home, I suppose us servants here are about to get tossed aside, huh?”
“Who told you that?” Lu Yunze smiled helplessly. “I just wanted to ask, while Bo Yao and I aren’t here, how do you plan to get by?”
Jiang Sui tilted her head and thought for a moment before answering, “It’ll be the same as always. Young Master may not be here, but I won’t get so sad that I can’t go on. After all, I’ve long been used to a lonely life.”
A very mature, womanly way to respond.
Lu Yunze accepted her answer, but then directly asked what he really wanted to know: “If I could take someone with me, would you be willing to come?”
As soon as he finished, silence fell over the bedroom.
Lu Yunze stared into her pale violet eyes, but he couldn’t make out any hint of emotion.
Strange, why is her reaction not what I expected?
Whether it was surprise or delight, he saw none of it.
Lu Yunze started to get nervous.
“So, that’s what Young Master really wanted to say.”
Jiang Sui smiled, but this time, her smile carried a trace of sadness.
“Sorry, I can’t agree to Young Master’s request.”
“Why—why not?”
Strange. This was really strange.
With Jiang Sui’s personality, she absolutely shouldn’t have answered so coldly.
Lu Yunze clutched at the hem of his shirt, anxiously asking, “Why?”
“Young Master, there’s something I have to think through clearly. Being a maid is just my job.”
Jiang Sui’s voice was still cold, as if she hadn’t noticed the anxiety on his face.
“Serving Young Master is my duty, so I should do my best. But following Young Master home—wouldn’t that be overstepping?”
“Young Master, don’t forget, I only stay with the Luo Family because of the over one million in Debt I owe. That’s all.” Jiang Sui continued calmly, “Once the Debt is paid off, I’ll have no reason to stay here.”
Lu Yunze’s throat tightened, as if he couldn’t get out what he wanted to say.
That’s right—Jiang Sui and I aren’t the same.
Staying with the Luo Family isn’t a blessing for her; it’s a deep abyss, hell itself. Every day she bears immense pressure, forcing a smile in front of me.
If I insist on taking her home with me, wouldn’t that just drag her deeper into the abyss?
“Young Master, do you really know what your request means for me?”
He couldn’t answer her.
Lu Yunze’s gaze fell to the floor at some point, and even his breathing grew a bit heavy.
He couldn’t bring Jiang Sui home, and maybe, one day, she’d leave him of her own accord.
Just the thought of that made Lu Yunze’s heart twist in pain with every beat.
“But, fair is fair. Work is work. Personal matters are personal.”
While Lu Yunze’s mind went blank, the soft body beside him leaned over again. Her slender, delicate hands, gentle as water, slowly caressed his neck. With a force that brooked no argument, she pressed his face firmly against her own ample, soft Big White Rabbit.
Lu Yunze felt his nose filled with a sweet, intoxicating fragrance. His whole face was buried in the soft, fragrant warmth of her Big White Rabbit.
Is this… the last special comfort before parting?
Just as Lu Yunze was thinking this, Jiang Sui’s next words stunned him:
“If Young Master insists on inviting me… then I have no choice but to agree.”
“Pfft.”
Lu Yunze slapped his own head and met her sparkling gaze.
“…What did the maid just say?”
“I said, I agree.”
“Didn’t you say you’re only staying with the Luo Family because of your job…”
“Yeah, but I never said I stayed by Young Master’s side just for work. Didn’t I just say, fair is fair? I want to keep following Young Master of my own accord. What, are you going to chase me away?”
“No, I’d never do that.”
Only now did Lu Yunze realize that he’d been tricked by her again.
For a moment, he wanted to push her away, but the comfort of the Big White Rabbit was just too irresistible. After the roller coaster of emotions just now, he completely surrendered.
Fine, there’s nothing wrong with just staying like this.
He even went so far as to bury his whole face in her embrace, breathing in the unique scent of the girl, his fingers unconsciously exploring the soft folds of her clothes.
Where Lu Yunze couldn’t see, Jiang Sui lowered her head to look at him, almost unable to keep herself from laughing at her own cunning plan.
From the very start, Jiang Sui never intended to refuse Lu Yunze. Even if Lu Yunze didn’t bring it up, she would’ve found a way to steer the conversation here.
Lu Yunze and Luo Yao going home? How could Jiang Sui just sit by and watch!
Two whole months of leaving Lu Yunze alone with Luo Yao to develop feelings? Jiang Sui couldn’t accept it. She’d promised herself that Lu Yunze would fall for her—she couldn’t allow his heart to wander to another woman.
Right now, his behavior was perfect—like a little beast in need of comfort, snuggling into her arms and enjoying the embrace of the Big White Rabbit.
Jiang Sui stroked the back of his head, her cheeks tinged with a faint flush.
Yes, that’s it, just keep relying on me like this.
Whether it’s your heart or your body, you must belong only to me.
Thinking this, Jiang Sui’s arm unconsciously tightened, completely missing that Lu Yunze had already started gasping for air in her arms.
“Stop, I’m suffocating…!”
Lu Yunze clung to her waist and finally managed to break free, gulping in fresh air.
He thought he was going to die here. Sometimes, being too ample isn’t necessarily a good thing…
After settling himself and regaining his composure, Lu Yunze spoke up again:
“If you wanted to agree, why not just say so directly?”
“If I did, how could I see Young Master’s cute expression?”
“You little…”
Lu Yunze was exasperated, completely helpless against her.
To cheer himself up, Lu Yunze picked up the milk tea and took two big sips, but then Jiang Sui’s voice sounded again:
“Can Young Master let me have a sip?”
“Sure.”
Before Lu Yunze could reach for a straw, Jiang Sui had already leaned over and taken hold of his straw, sucking on it directly.
There’s still my saliva on it…
Lu Yunze watched her—it was just milk tea, but Jiang Sui’s movements were inexplicably alluring.
She didn’t just drink the milk tea, she traced the entire straw with her nimble little tongue.
After a big gulp of milk tea, Jiang Sui finally let go of the straw. Mixing the taste of milk with her own, she drew out a long, silvery string between her lips and the straw.
“So sweet.”
“Is it? How does it taste?”
“Maybe it’s just because Young Master hasn’t tried it yet.”
“Huh?”
Before Lu Yunze could react, Jiang Sui leaned forward, her rosy lips slightly parted.
“Do you want to taste it, Young Master?”
As for how he was supposed to taste it, she didn’t say—and she didn’t try to stop whatever wild ideas he might have had.
Just as Lu Yunze was about to respond, the door suddenly burst open.
“Young Master, I wanted to ask about the bathroom in your house…”
Lin Ying, who walked in, froze in place at the scene.
“Sorry for the interruption, Young Master.”
He left as quickly as he came.
