I’m nervous.
In Irellexia, my appearance was actually quite unusual.
I’ve never been told that I’m ugly or look strange. I’m not sure if that’s because my appearance isn’t really bad, or if it’s just that people are being considerate of the hero from another world.
However, while I’ve never been told that I look strange, I’ve heard that I look exotic.
That’s to be expected. In Irellexia, most people were of a similar race to European white people from this world. Even the other race, Elf.
It’s not like there were no other races, but traveling by land was too dangerous in that world, so it wasn’t easy to see them. Plus, regions where many different races mixed were usually places where trade thrived in some way, and those places were mostly far from battlefields.
So, especially soldiers who saw me for the first time on the battlefield would stare at my face. Of course, after fighting together, that strange feeling would completely disappear.
On the other hand, in this world, it was actually my companions who stood out.
There are many tourists in Seoul. Mixed-race people are becoming more common, and many foreigners even naturalize and live here.
But even so, the number of people from other races in Korea is still very small. Most of them are tourists from abroad, and naturally, most of them don’t interact much with locals in daily life.
It’s not common to see someone with a different skin color who speaks Korean as fluently as a native. No matter how much the status of the Korean language has risen, it’s still not treated as a lingua franca like English, Spanish, or French in international society.
But the four people living in my house speak Korean as fluently as Koreans. Given the nature of the automatic translation, there were even times when words that a native Korean wouldn’t normally use came out. All four of them are top elites in Irellexia.
Moreover, their nationality isn’t from any other country it’s Korea. They’re not mixed-race, and neither of their parents is Korean. They’re a rare kind of people, unless the entire family naturalizes.
I’m sure my sister won’t discriminate against her companions, but… will she really be able to adjust to the atmosphere?
Additionally, from my companions’ perspective, there were some concerns as well. Since coming here, the only person I’ve communicated with is the pastor at the church, and with my sister, it’s a bit awkward to stay just acquaintances.
For various reasons, I couldn’t help but feel nervous, even though I was the one who called for my sister.
“Well, I’m going in.”
I had already taken my sister’s luggage and was holding it. The sound of bottles clinking made it seem like there were more than just one or two bottles of alcohol. Since the beer bottles were plastic, it meant she had bought several bottles of alcohol in glass bottles.
My sister’s face was still a little red.
It made me wonder if she could really drink all this.
…Well, now that we’ve come this far, I can’t back out.
My sister just smiled, as if to ease my nervousness.
When my sister first saw this apartment, she was shocked, and when we entered the lobby, she was shocked again. She was also surprised after taking the elevator up. It made sense. I was surprised at first, too.
On the other hand, she seemed to somewhat understand that five people were living in one place. It was true that the apartment was big enough to live comfortably without much inconvenience. I guess the house was probably designed with a large family in mind.
As I stopped moving and got lost in my thoughts, my sister tilted her head.
“…….”
“…….”
Seeing that look made me feel foolish for worrying, so I gave a small laugh and entered the door lock code.
With a beep, I heard the sound of the lock releasing, and the door opened.
“Ah, you’re here!”
The first voice I heard was Fia’s voice.
I heard footsteps running, and Fia came to a stop in front of us.
She wasn’t wearing the usual pajamas. Of course, she still wore short shorts, but it was casual clothing that wouldn’t look out of place even if she wore it in front of others.
Short, elastic-waist shorts and a slightly loose hoodie.
I’m glad I contacted her beforehand. If I hadn’t, all my companions would have been standing in front of my sister in their pajamas.
“Hello!”
Fia greeted in a Korean style. Or maybe it’s better to call it an Asian-style greeting.
Seeing Fia bow politely, my sister blinked in surprise.
Hmm, I can see why she’d be surprised.
Fia’s hair was pink. While not common in Irellexia, it’s a color that occasionally appears, but it’s not something you’d see on Earth. To dye your hair this color, you can’t just apply dye—it seems you’d need to bleach it to white first.
And even if you did dye it, it’s not common for someone to go for such a vivid pink.
Also, people whose appearance suits that hair color are probably even rarer.
“Ah, hello.”
Still, my sister was able to greet her properly.
I heard the sound of footsteps leisurely approaching from behind Fia.
Kalia, Dana, Arna.
At least these three had hair colors that could be found on Earth. Well, it’s not like I should be relieved or anything.
They were all foreigners, and they were beautiful enough that they wouldn’t seem out of place in movies or dramas.
“I’m Kalia, and I owe Siheon a great debt. Please take good care of me.”
Kalia introduced herself with a voice as soft as a noble’s.
It felt a bit awkward, like hearing a friend speak formally to my family. I wondered if Kalia felt something similar when she saw me talking to her older brother.
“Hello. I’m Dana.”
Like Fia, Dana greeted in the Korean style. It was her belief that if you learn something, you should use it. And I’m sure she knew that this way of greeting was the most appropriate here.
“I’m Arna. Please take care of me.”
Arna, who normally speaks casually to humans, also used formal speech now. It wouldn’t be polite to use informal speech with someone she just met. In Irellexia, where they know about the existence of elves, it might not be a big deal, but on Earth, living like an elf while hiding their true identity is difficult.
“Oh, I’m Fia!”
Then Fia suddenly remembered she hadn’t introduced herself and quickly spoke.
“Hello.”
My sister was surprisingly calm.
Her face was still a little red, maybe because she hadn’t fully sobered up, but she seemed relatively unfazed seeing the three who had more ordinary appearances compared to Fia, the most striking one.
However, soon, my sister’s gaze turned toward me.
Naturally, it would be a bit surprising if someone who said they were ‘from the countryside’ was standing next to people who clearly looked like they were from abroad.
But I avoided her gaze.
If I start making up stories about the four of them here, contradictions could arise. After all, the four of them weren’t from Earth.
So, it would be better if each of them introduced themselves instead.
It’d be even better if they could all do it while they were all together.
“Ahem.”
I felt a dryness in my throat. The awkwardness was undeniable.
“T-this! I’ll leave it in the kitchen!”
I quickly said that.
And then I regretted it.
Was I saying I was going back to the entrance? Of course, if we were to gather, it would be in the living room.
That’s right. As expected, the sound of five people following me into the kitchen reached my ears as I walked to put the bags down.
“F-first, just sit in the living room and wait. I’ll prepare everything and come out!”
“Oh, I’ll help.”
Dana, ever so perceptive, immediately followed me into the kitchen.
…No, wait, maybe she wasn’t being perceptive?
Rather, it seemed like she wanted to avoid the awkward situation herself.
Hadn’t she just sent a confident emoji earlier?
Well, that’s not important right now.
…For now, I’ll leave it to Kalia. Since Kalia, who’s from a noble society, has conversed with all kinds of people, I’m sure she’ll show remarkable sociability in this world too.
It’s not because I want to avoid awkwardness.
The reason why it’s best for the three of them to introduce themselves is simply that it’s the best way.
Besides, I trust my companions. I trust them with my life.
So………..
…Well, to be honest, I needed just a brief moment to collect my thoughts.
“What should I do? What should I do? Now that I’m about to talk, I don’t even know where to start. Any ideas?”
It seemed like Dana was thinking the same thing.
Yeah.
How should I start the conversation?
…And at what point should I clean up my room?
I thought seriously about it.
