Did she not come to class today?
Resting her chin on her hand as she stared at the empty seat, Luo Shuangxing felt a twinge of regret.
She had originally planned to corner Xiao Yi and ask her some questions, but it seemed Xiao Yi had somehow anticipated her thoughts and decisively chose to avoid her.
Now, with the girl nowhere to be seen and no clues at all, Luo Shuangxing didn’t know what to do.
A day passed in the blink of an eye, and just as Luo Shuangxing had guessed, Xiao Yi hadn’t come to school the entire time.
“Didn’t come to school? Looks like she’s fleeing to avoid trouble,” Luo Shuangyue said bluntly after hearing Luo Shuangxing’s recount.
Otherwise, why wouldn’t she show up at school? The only explanation was that she was afraid her abnormality had been discovered and was running away.
If she had more time, Luo Shuangyue would really consider looking for this mysterious girl — after all, she was a born Superpower.
This seemed to be the first time she’d encountered one.
There are actually quite a few people with Superpowers in the world now, but most are very weak, barely strong enough to affect ordinary people.
And the source of these powers is quite uniform: the Demonic Energy from Demons.
In a way, these people with weak superpowers are lightly modified Magical Creature Modified Humans.
Xiao Yi probably falls into that category.
After all, she said her home was attacked by Demons and completely wiped out, so as the only survivor, she must have absorbed some Demonic Energy, more or less.
Therefore, it’s not surprising she awakened some special abilities.
“Let’s train first. This girl isn’t that important right now.”
“Got it.”
Luo Shuangxing walked to the center of the training field and began practicing molding her magic into various weapons.
Her progress was a bit slow. It took quite a while before she successfully condensed her magic into the shape of a javelin.
She tested its attack power — this javelin was indeed more penetrating than the Magic Cannon she’d used before, but the time spent condensing it was enough for Luo Shuangxing to have fired ten Magic Cannons in the same period.
It felt like a losing trade-off.
She practiced hard, but even when she compressed the time it took to condense the javelin to the limit, its output efficiency was still far lower than that of the Magic Cannon.
Is there any way to shorten this time? If only the javelin could be pre-made and taken out whenever needed.
But once she exited the Transformed State, the javelin she condensed would lose stability without continuous magic supply. What should she do then?
Hmmm… Luo Shuangxing thought deeply, and it seemed she touched upon a spark of inspiration.
Leaning on her Magic Staff, head bowed in thought, she recalled having seen something similar before, but what was it exactly…
Her gaze drifted over Luo Shuangyue, and a white figure flashed through her mind.
White Night… right! White Night’s Seal Card!
She remembered Long Wen mentioning an idea about sealing her Dragon Breath in a card created by Luo Shuangyue, but Luo Shuangyue had said that the Seal Cards she made couldn’t hold such a powerful attack.
In other words, Seal Cards can store small-scale attacks!
So maybe she could also make Seal Cards to seal away the weapons she manifested?
These mimetic weapons would only unleash their power when contacting the enemy, so sealing them in a card shouldn’t be difficult.
Following this train of thought, Luo Shuangxing suddenly felt a clear path ahead.
“Dark Moth! I have an idea!” she shouted over to Luo Shuangyue.
Luo Shuangyue, who was currently tanking Magic Cannon shots with her body to test their power, quickly summoned Little Ghost Scythe to help her take the hits and darted over to Luo Shuangxing.
What kind of crazy idea does my little sister have this time?
“My weapon condensation speed is too slow, so I want to try sealing them all into Seal Cards. That way, I can just take them out whenever I need to use them,” Luo Shuangxing said plainly.
“Teach me how to make Seal Cards!”
You have to admit, this plan actually sounds feasible.
But Luo Shuangyue faced a problem: Seal Cards are a special product of White Night’s magic, and she wasn’t sure if Luo Shuangxing could make something similar.
Other Magical Girls can’t make Seal Cards; only White Night and those who can mimic White Night’s magic are capable.
And Luo Shuangxing… although she’s her mother’s biological daughter, whether she could do this was still uncertain.
“Okay, but making Seal Cards requires very special magic. You might not have that kind of magic,” Luo Shuangyue said, spreading her hands. Pure white light slowly flowed out from her body.
This was the White Night magic she was mimicking.
It gradually solidified at a very slow pace and transformed into the shape of a card after a complex series of metamorphoses.
Luo Shuangyue deliberately slowed down the process so Luo Shuangxing could observe the making of a Seal Card as clearly as possible.
Even so, Luo Shuangxing was still baffled after watching once.
After the second and third times, she finally began to get a clue.
By the seventh time, Luo Shuangxing started releasing her own magic, imitating Luo Shuangyue’s movements.
After seven or eight failures, she finally produced a strangely shaped card.
Calling it a card was a bit generous — it looked more like an amorphous gel.
It should work for wrapping things but was certainly not as stable as a proper card.
Still, it was an excellent start.
At least Luo Shuangxing had proven she lived up to her identity as White Night’s daughter — her magic was indeed the same, possessing the ability to form Seal Cards.
“Almost there!” The repeated failures didn’t discourage Luo Shuangxing. The gradual progress and the faint glimpse of success only fueled her enthusiasm.
Her mind felt extremely focused, thinking several times faster than usual. No detail escaped her eyes.
She repeatedly replayed the image of Luo Shuangyue making Seal Cards, dissecting each step to understand its purpose.
She wasn’t simply copying; she was transforming these powers into her own knowledge.
Her magic was different from Luo Shuangyue’s, so she couldn’t blindly follow her process.
Besides, the Seal Cards she needed weren’t for sealing Demonic Energy, so the making method also required change.
As she pondered, Luo Shuangxing unconsciously released magic, creating one Seal Card after another. Most were erased halfway because she deemed them incorrect.
As time slowly passed, the cards she produced started to look more and more like actual cards.
Her eyes brightened, and a vague feeling settled in her heart — she realized she was only one step away from success.
“It’s getting late.” Xia Mo whispered to Luo Shuangyue from about a hundred meters away.
After Luo Shuangxing entered that self-absorbed trance-like state, Luo Shuangyue had sneaked off with Xia Mo to a distant spot so as not to disturb her sister’s epiphany.
That epiphany lasted nearly half the night.
When they started training, the sun was still hanging in the sky; now, the Milky Way glittered brilliantly overhead. Even the Director had come by out of curiosity.
“She should be about to succeed. Honestly, sometimes I really envy this girl,” Luo Shuangyue whispered back.
Her intuition told her that what Luo Shuangxing gained this time was more than just a new way to use magic.
She probably shattered the bottleneck between Blooming-Rank and First Bloom-Class.
Because the path Luo Shuangxing was walking was unlike any other Magical Girl’s — it was uniquely hers.
This kid was truly a born Magical Girl!
“She’ll probably surpass us soon…”
“Surpassing you is easy, but surpassing me? Not so simple.” Luo Shuangyue smirked.
Luo Shuangxing was a genius, but wasn’t she one too? They shared the same blood; there was no way she was worse than Luo Shuangxing.
Xia Mo couldn’t help but glare at Luo Shuangyue — acting all cocky, huh? Insinuating my talent’s weak? Just wait, don’t sleep soundly tonight!
While the two were talking, Luo Shuangxing finally made a huge breakthrough.
For the first time, she fully created a Seal Card belonging to her.
The milky white card floated quietly in her palm.
The card’s surface was blank, as if waiting for its maker to carve something onto it.
Holding this hard-earned card in both hands, Luo Shuangxing smiled brightly.
“Success!”
Even without testing, she knew she’d achieved her goal. This was exactly what she wanted!
She picked up the javelin of condensed magic she’d set aside, gently pressed it against the card.
The javelin instantly transformed into a stream of white light and entered the card.
On the once blank card surface, a simple sketch of the javelin appeared.
Then, Luo Shuangxing squeezed the card hard until it shattered.
The javelin absorbed by the card reappeared in her hand.
Clap clap clap! Seeing this, Luo Shuangyue finally applauded — she knew her sister had succeeded.
“Elder Sister Xia Mo, sis… Dark Moth, I did it!” Overcome with excitement, Luo Shuangxing almost slipped and called Luo Shuangyue “sis,” but thankfully caught herself just in time.
Changing her words didn’t stop her excitement, though, and she needed a way to vent it.
First, she gave Xia Mo a big hug, then turned to the comforting Luo Shuangyue standing beside her.
Surprising her, she gave her a bear hug too.
“Thanks so much this time!” Luo Shuangxing hugged her elder sister tightly, not caring if her actions seemed strange — she was just insanely happy and didn’t mind being a little over the top.
After hugging her Dark Moth-version sister, Luo Shuangxing turned to Xiao Mimi, who had been training alone nearby, and gave her a warm hug as well.
Afterward, she ran excitedly to the side and began testing whether the Seal Card would remain stable after she exited the Transformed State.
“She’s really over the moon,” Luo Shuangyue muttered softly after receiving a hug from her little sister.
This was the first time Luo Shuangxing had been so friendly toward her since she became Dark Moth.
“Definitely meow,” Xiao Mimi nodded in agreement. Luo Shuangxing wasn’t usually this kind to her.
Just as they finished talking, Luo Shuangxing’s more excited voice rang out: “It really worked! Awesome!”
At this moment, Luo Shuangxing had reverted to her original form, but the milky white Seal Card in her hand remained unchanged, still perfectly intact.
However, in her base state, Luo Shuangxing couldn’t crush the card.
She bit and squeezed it but found that the card required magic to operate.
“Too bad I can’t use it in this form,” she sighed regretfully.
“If ordinary people could use something like this…”
“You’d immediately be taken by Feiqin to Magic Department Headquarters for tight protection and spend your life locked in the Black Room making these things.”
Luo Shuangyue said helplessly to her sister.
That stubborn girl had no idea how world-shaking this invention was.
This card contained weapons condensed by a Magical Girl’s magic!
If ordinary people could wield these, the Magic Department’s problem of powerless civilians facing Demons would be solved instantly.
For example, have Magical Girls condense arrows and seal them in Luo Shuangxing’s cards.
Magic Department members could then unseal these arrows to shoot Demons into riddles.
Even if the sealed weapons’ power was slightly weaker, it would be far more effective than current weapons that can only graze Demons.
Right now, the Magic Department struggles even to deal with Soldier-class Demons; sometimes they can’t eliminate them completely.
But with Luo Shuangxing’s cards, even one would pose a serious threat to General-class Demons.
This would be a revolutionary leap forward for the Magic Department!
“Not at all. Don’t think Magic Department veterans are as bad as you imagine,” Luo Shuangxing grinned at Luo Shuangyue.
“If you don’t believe me, then forget it. Hand over the card.”
Seeing her sister’s disbelief, Luo Shuangyue didn’t bother to argue.
She didn’t trust that everyone at Magic Department Headquarters was completely selfless.
Besides, tightly protecting Luo Shuangxing to make Seal Cards was actually a very human-friendly choice — better than risking this precious arms factory on the battlefield.
“What are you going to do?” Luo Shuangxing reluctantly handed over the card.
“See if I can use it.” Luo Shuangyue took the card and moved a bit away to try crushing it.
She squeezed with great force but only caused a few cracks.
Then she used magic in both hands, finally snapping Luo Shuangxing’s Seal Card in two.
Boom!
The card exploded instantly, throwing her flat onto the ground.
“So it’s bound equipment — others can’t use it.”
