When she said this, the high school students who were a scattered mess cosplaying as terrorists immediately dispersed.
They were doing this to survive, to avoid being captured by the Human Alliance. Look at those guys that girl electrocuted—even when they were pulled up, they were drooling. Of course, it’s better to avoid such pain if possible.
The hooded guys voluntarily made way for Ye Xingyao, since they had seen the fire element ready in her hand; no one wanted to take that hit.
Seeing they were wise enough not to waste her time, Ye Xingyao didn’t say much and walked toward the teaching building.
“By the way, where did you lock up the students?”
On the way, Ye Xingyao pulled out her phone and glanced at the message she had sent to her sister. The other party hadn’t read or replied… so she called over a trembling terrorist nearby and asked.
“It’s… the teaching building… the hall on the first floor… and the meeting room too…”
The terrorist pointed at herself. After seeing the terrifying girl nod, she stammered timidly.
Ye Xingyao was a little surprised to find that this one was actually a girl. The other terrorists also sounded pretty young…
What were they hoping to achieve by stirring up trouble at a time like this?
Ye Xingyao opened the location tracker on her sister’s phone. It showed the phone was currently in the cafeteria. She breathed a sigh of relief.
At least her little sister probably wasn’t in danger.
Next came the part where “Midnight-level Hunter Ye Xin,” upon a friend’s request, found his sister, confirmed her safety, told her to protect herself, and then stepped in to cooperate with the Magical Girls to resolve the situation.
Having confirmed that her sister was probably safe, Ye Xingyao couldn’t help asking the cowering high school girl terrorist out of curiosity, “You’re so young. Why would you do something like this?”
But the little girl was so scared she started crying, as if Ye Xingyao were some horrifying monster.
Hey, from the outside, she was also a pretty good-looking girl, right? Did she really have to scare the other person that much?
“You! Don’t pick on her!”
Before she could comfort the poor kid, another hooded terrorist—judging by the first one, likely a male high school student—came rushing over, flailing his arms.
In his hand was… a water-element magic circle?
Unfortunately, his Magic Power didn’t seem able to make the circle spin quickly, or maybe his mana injection was too slow. Either way, Ye Xingyao kicked it out cold.
“Who taught you all this?”
Neatly pulling her leg back, Ye Xingyao grabbed the male high schooler by the collar and tossed him next to the crying girl. She frowned as she asked.
Even she could only use the Elven Language to draw Magic Power from a Magic Stone to cast spells.
Now that she had Starlight Magic, she was pleasantly surprised to find she could manipulate that magic freely—but the first step was still required.
This guy, though, just waved his hand and conjured an Elf’s magic circle. His magic didn’t borrow anything external at all—it was completely squeezed out of his own body.
That was terrifying. If humans could do that, then her and her father’s research would be a joke.
“Tch. Don’t think having some superpower makes you impressive! I’ll surpass you sooner or later. Even if you can bully me now, I will never give up the pride of an Elf!”
The boy spat out a loser’s parting words. One word in particular caught Ye Xingyao’s attention.
“Elf? You’re an Elf?”
Ye Xingyao was momentarily confused. If this guy was an Elf, then his magic circle would make sense…
“So what if I am? Are you going to take us away for the Human Alliance’s experiments? Over my dead body!”
The boy struggled to his feet, shielding the crying girl behind him, and retorted in a disheveled but stubborn tone.
“It’s not a big deal. You’re an Elf, and the kid behind you?”
Ye Xingyao jerked her chin toward the girl behind him. She had already tuned out the boy’s obviously hostile remarks.
“She is one too, of course…”
The boy, who had psyched himself up for a fight, was thrown off by the question.
What did she mean by that?
“Oh, that explains it.”
Ye Xingyao nodded, flicked her hair, and turned to walk toward the cafeteria.
So that was it. These so-called terrorists were descendants of Elves. With the Comprehensive Census happening, they had no choice but to make a last desperate stand…
What was the Human Alliance planning? She didn’t believe the old farts in the Human Alliance were that incompetent. Starting with Xiaoyue and the Star Elf Stone, right up to now, she had less and less idea what they were thinking.
The Human Alliance knew she was a Star Elf, but they didn’t make a big deal out of it. Instead, they seemed to want some covert cooperation with her, a stark contrast to their open hostility toward Elves. Their attitude was quite ambiguous.
By the same logic, how could the Human Alliance have no warning about such a large-scale incident? Could they really have been caught off guard and underprepared?
“Stop right there! What exactly are you trying to do?! And what did you mean by that?!”
The boy behind her yelled, interrupting her thoughts and steps.
“Me? What’s it to you?”
Ye Xingyao shot him a glare. He couldn’t beat her, and she didn’t feel like wasting words. Why was this kid so stubborn?
“I…”
The boy was clearly choked up, stammering without knowing what to say.
Or rather, he hadn’t expected such a young girl to say something so nearly shameless.
“Go do your own thing. Adults handle adult business—kids shouldn’t meddle. If you have that much energy, why don’t you comfort the girl?”
Ye Xingyao licked her lips without giving him another glance. Her star-blue eyes fixed on the teaching building.
What was going on? Why were there Ice Attribute and Wood Attribute Magic Power reactions from that direction… Could it be that Miss Shuanghua was fighting something?
No, she had to go check. Her little sister was probably fine in the cafeteria. It was more important to help Miss Shuanghua resolve the issue.
Maybe Xiaoyue and Fumier had already fished her sister out while sweeping for timed bombs?
Having made up her mind, she drove the Shadow Magic in her Magic Stone and slipped into the shadows left along the wall’s edge.
Only the boy remained, supporting the crying girl’s shoulders, staring blankly at the spot where she had vanished.
