“I… don’t know.” Seraphina’s answer was quite hesitant. She had faced this question before.
“Perhaps it’s like you said earlier… a sister? Although, it doesn’t feel quite like ordinary sisters.”
She could never accurately describe this complex emotion—a mix of reliance, fear, gratitude, and a bond she refused to acknowledge, all intertwined.
“Hmm, I understand.” Dekalorin responded gently, nodding lightly, as if this answer was already within her expectations.
She then changed the topic, chatting about some interesting things in the academy, making the atmosphere relaxed once more.
After the meal, Dekalorin led Seraphina to the academy’s registry office.
It was an ancient stone building, with arches and high windows inlaid with colorful glass, depicting patterns symbolizing wisdom and knowledge.
“Speaking of which, the registry office is the academy’s first department, and also the most important. Everything related to documents can be found with the corresponding staff here.”
Under the towering dome inside, the air was filled with the scent of paper, ink, and faint incense.
Students in various colored robes quietly lined up, and occasionally, the rustling sound of writing could be heard.
The entire environment seemed busy yet orderly, full of an academic flavor.
Dekalorin directly led Seraphina to one side of the hall, in front of a wall.
This wall was very smooth, without any actual plaques hanging on it. Instead, several distinctive names floated in mid-air.
Some were dignified and elegant, some imposing and grand, and others, at a glance, clearly belonged to someone who must have been a standard typist in their previous life.
Below each name, there were subtle flowing lights, rippling like water waves.
Seraphina saw the name “Saint Eustacia” prominently listed, along with the names of other professors she had never heard of.
“This is the consultation wall.”
Dekalorin turned to explain to Seraphina.
“These names represent the professors currently open for consultations. The names aren’t fixed but rotate based on the actual situations of students and professors. For example, next week, my name might replace one of the temporarily busy professors.”
She pointed to the flowing lights below each name.
“The intensity and speed of the flowing lights can roughly reflect the number of issues currently being handled in that slot, and their urgency.”
With that, Dekalorin raised her hand, gathering a faint light at her fingertip and attaching it to Seraphina’s hand.
“Normally, it should be the professor personally writing their own name.”
Seeming to tease Seraphina on purpose, Dekalorin emphasized the word “professor” a bit.
But Seraphina didn’t notice. At that moment, she was thinking in her mind about how her name would be written in human script.
Then, at the spot Dekalorin indicated, which was at the very end of these names, she wrote “Seraphina” in mid-air.
Originally, Seraphina subconsciously started to write… her former name.
But fortunately, she corrected it in time. Still, this gave Seraphina a very strange feeling, prompting her to ponder this old matter once again.
The newly appeared name had a slightly dim glow, and the flowing lights below were slow and calm.
“You’re at the end.” Dekalorin looked at Seraphina consolingly. “Usually, students choose which professor to submit questions to based on the order of the list and the flowing light situation, so you won’t be too busy at first. You’ll have enough time to adapt and learn.”
Seraphina looked at the name on the wall, her heart filled with mixed emotions—both anxiety and a bit of anticipation.
However, just as she felt a little relieved and prepared to leave with Dekalorin.
The other’s footsteps paused slightly, as if casually glancing back, and her sleeve seemed to wave lightly.
A surge of magic that Seraphina couldn’t detect at all swept across the wall.
The name that had just been added had quietly moved forward several positions, even surpassing a few senior professors.
And the name that was originally at the front, “Saint Eustacia,” had faded away, as if temporarily leaving the sequence.
After doing all this, Dekalorin’s expression remained unchanged as she continued leading Seraphina outside.
Just as they left the door, Seraphina suddenly stopped, letting out a soft “ah,” as if remembering something.
“What’s wrong?”
A hint of hesitation appeared on Seraphina’s face. “Perhaps… should I bring some breakfast back for Movira? When she wakes up, she might be hungry too…”
Thinking of the other’s slightly worried sleeping face this morning, this idea popped up involuntarily.
Upon hearing this, Dekalorin’s lips curved upward slightly, approving Seraphina’s suggestion. “Sure, that’s very thoughtful. Let’s go. I might still remember my old friend’s tastes.”
The two returned to the cafeteria. Under Dekalorin’s recollection, they specially selected a few exquisite-looking pastries and a pot of steaming herbal tea.
“This should be enough.” Dekalorin handed the warm package to Seraphina, the smile in her eyes undiminished.
“Go quickly, don’t make our ‘sleeping beauty’ wait too long.”
After hearing this, Seraphina felt a bit embarrassed, thanked her softly, and then carried this simple breakfast toward her room.
This behavior, which was almost a reversal of roles in preparing for Movira, filled her heart with a bit of anticipation, wanting to see what Movira would look like when she woke up.
And when she gently pushed open the door, the scene inside made Seraphina pause.
Movira was already up.
But she wasn’t like usual, already dressed and waiting for her with a lazy yet controlling expression.
Instead… she was somewhat flustered, tidying the bed, her movements inevitably a bit clumsy.
Upon hearing the door open, Movira’s actions froze abruptly. She then quickly stood up, the slight unnatural expression on her face swiftly suppressed.
But Seraphina still caught the embarrassment in the other’s eyes.
Especially when Movira saw the breakfast in Seraphina’s hands, clearly brought for her, that unnatural feeling became even more evident.
“You’re awake?” Seraphina walked into the room, placing the items on the table. “I went to get some breakfast, thinking you might be hungry when you wake up. Oh, I’ve already eaten.”
Movira stood in place, her gaze somewhat evasive, as if not daring to look directly at Seraphina.
She cleared her throat simply, removing the hoarseness from just waking up. “Mm, for a while now.”
Then she quickly added, “Last night… I slept a bit deeply.”
When these words came from her mouth, it made Seraphina feel very awkward. When had she ever needed to explain to someone that she overslept?
This kind of Movira, stripped of her dominance, actually seemed a bit… attractive?
Although it was probably only like this in front of her, but… but it still made one unable to resist wanting to tease her a bit.
