Su Liumeng didn’t think too much about how Zhi Xinyan, a soon-to-be mother, managed to always carry sanitary pads with her. As the sound of knocking echoed from the bathroom door, I glanced at the blurred figure behind the frosted glass, covering my mouth and chuckling softly. “Honestly, how old are you? Still acting like a little kid.”
I sat on the sofa for a bit, then suddenly took out my phone.
Since I’d changed into a lovely outfit, of course I had to take some photos for the memories. Otherwise, what a pity it would be.
I aimed the front camera at myself, made a peace sign, and took a photo, but something still felt off.
If only there were a full-length mirror.
I never usually take photos, so there obviously wasn’t a full-length mirror in my room.
But I remembered—Su Liumeng actually had one in her room. After hesitating for a moment in the living room, I decided not to tell Su Liumeng, and simply pushed open her door with my little hand.
We’re already married. There’s no need to be so polite anymore.
Speaking of marriage, as I looked at Su Liumeng’s neat and tidy room, I suddenly fell into thought.
Since we’re already married, where am I supposed to sleep tonight?
That’s a pretty serious question.
There’s no bridal suite in the villa for the two of us.
Squeezing into Su Liumeng’s bed shouldn’t be much of an issue.
I recalled that there was a full-length mirror in Su Liumeng’s closet. I’d seen it once when looking for something. With a bit of effort, I dragged the mirror out.
Standing in front of the slightly tilted mirror, my legs looked a third longer.
No wonder everyone loves taking pictures in front of mirrors. It’s like an instant, flawless beauty filter with a built-in smoothing effect—who wouldn’t love that?
Snap.
Snap.
I ended up taking over a dozen photos in one go. As I admired my own reflection on the phone, completely absorbed in my vanity, I failed to notice the shadow standing behind me.
Su Liumeng coughed first, deliberately making some noise so as not to startle me, then said, “Xiaoyan.”
“What!” I hastily tried to hide my phone behind my back, but then realized Su Liumeng was right behind me. There was no way to really hide it, and before I could move, a warm hand gently took the phone away.
Staring at Su Liumeng holding my phone, with a smile in her eyes, I stomped my foot hard.
First time being vain and I got caught red-handed.
Is there anyone more unlucky than me?
I pouted, glaring at the girl in front of me. Instead of demanding my phone back, I spoke with a slightly tsundere tone, “Hurry up and look, then give it back.”
When Su Liumeng heard this, she was inexplicably reminded of a scene from that Orange anime.
The stoic female lead, with her cool voice, told another girl, “Hurry up and finish, I still need to sleep.”
Although Zhi Xinyan isn’t exactly the stoic type, for some reason, Su Liumeng found this line inexplicably adorable.
Zhi Xinyan’s phone was a smaller model, and it always looked a little big in her hands. Su Liumeng’s gaze landed on the blushing girl in a black dress on the screen, lingering on the seductive “absolute territory” below her skirt. Her blood, which had just calmed down, was starting to boil again.
This isn’t right, Su Liumeng silently reminded herself.
What’s wrong with me these days? Why am I getting flustered so easily?
Just seeing a photo is enough to set me off. Ridiculous.
Period, period. Gotta be careful. Su Liumeng repeated this to herself so many times that she didn’t notice the girl in front of her widening her eyes, already baring a tiny sharp fang.
“Su Liumeng!” I raised my voice.
Hands on hips, looking like a little tiger, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t actually look fierce. “How can you look at a single photo for a whole minute? What are you up to?”
Su Liumeng smiled, “Xiaoyan, look at the headboard, look up.”
I followed her words, momentarily forgetting about my phone, and looked up instinctively. “What is it? Isn’t the wall just plain white? I don’t see any geckos or anything.”
Su Liumeng smiled, “A photo. There’s a photo missing, isn’t there?”
She had just remembered.
Ancient weddings definitely didn’t include taking photos.
There were magic recordings, though. Su Liumeng had clipped two stills from the ceremony and turned them into photos, which she kept in her storage ring.
Seeing that I was tempted, Su Liumeng took my hand in hers. “Tomorrow, I’ll decorate the villa as our bridal chamber. You can invite a few of your friends over for dinner. That way, we can properly announce the marriage.”
“Dinner, photos?” I tilted my head, thinking, “So—do we need to take pictures now?”
“Yes.” Seeing the light finally dawn on my face, Su Liumeng’s smile was impossible to hide. “In a bit, let Chunqiao take a photo of us together, then hang it over the bed.”
“No need for wedding dresses, that’s something foreigners like. We’ll just wear our usual clothes, as long as it fits the modern vibe, that’s enough.”
“Alright.” I reached out my hand. “Then give me back my phone.”
Su Liumeng flipped a few more pages, wanting to save everything, but in the end, reluctantly handed it over. “Can you send me the third photo?”
Su Liumeng sounded a bit pitiful, but I just scoffed, “Stop acting pitiful.”
I opened WeChat and sent the third photo—one of me kneeling on the floor.
“There, sent.”
I turned and returned to my room.
After receiving the photo, Su Liumeng kissed the screen in delight and quickly set it as her wallpaper.
She hurried to change clothes. In about ten minutes, she’d changed into a bright red dress.
Looking at herself in the mirror, Su Liumeng felt that red still best suited her former “young lady” arrogant style.
What does it mean to be a young lady? Even a dog on the street would get kicked and scolded for being in the way.
Not that her personality had changed that much.
But after a turbulent love story, people naturally grow.
Sometimes, you’re simply forced to mature.
Now that she had a wife, how could she act like an unmarried girl, wanting to kick anything she disliked?
In the little garden.
I glanced at Su Liumeng’s horns and casually said, “Just one photo.”
I’m not fond of taking pictures with others, especially knowing it’ll be framed and displayed. There’s something strange about seeing myself like that.
Su Liumeng agreed cheerfully, “Don’t worry, baby, just one photo. I won’t make things hard for you.”
Ten minutes later.
Looking at the thirty-six photos in the camera, Su Liumeng was finally satisfied. “Alright, that’s enough. No need to take more.”
I couldn’t help myself and was just about to say something when Su Liumeng cut in, “So annoying! I don’t know why Chunqiao’s photography skills are so bad. She took thirty-six shots before getting one perfect one.”
“Baby wouldn’t want a flawed photo, so we had to take more, right?”
I nearly choked.
After all that, what else could I say?
I felt like I’d fallen for Su Liumeng’s tricks again.
But was it really necessary to change locations just because the photos didn’t come out right?
“This spot isn’t good for photos. Baby, let’s try somewhere else.”
Thinking of Su Liumeng’s words, my eyes went a little blank.
On the way back to the villa.
Watching Su Liumeng hug the camera, grinning like an idiot, even in my pregnancy haze, I realized something was off. “Su Liumeng, have you completely figured out my personality already?”
It felt like my “queen” status was slipping.
Things had been going smoothly lately, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that Su Liumeng was leading me by the nose.
“Nope.” Of course, Su Liumeng didn’t dare admit she’d already read the Zhi Xinyan textbook up to a doctorate level.
“Su Liumeng––”
“Stop right there!” I crossed my arms and suddenly stopped.
The girl’s voice was willful, not making any sense.
Su Liumeng, as if under a petrifying spell, stopped obediently under a tree and became a motionless wooden figure.
“Tell me, who’s the queen?”
Su Liumeng replied honestly, “Baby is the queen.”
“Who do you listen to?”
“To baby,” Su Liumeng added, “I only listen to Zhi Xinyan.”
“OK.”
“All done, let’s keep going.” I patted my hands, reassured of my household status, and felt a hundred times better.
Chunqiao followed behind, watching the two banter ahead, stars nearly sparkling in her eyes.
This was the couple she could ship for a lifetime.
Chunlan trotted over. “Chunqiao-jie, what are you doing?”
“Just watching the show,” Chunqiao giggled. “Chunlan-mei, do you have someone you like?”
