“What? What are you going to do?”
Su Lihua had also recovered quite a bit. She overheard the conversation between the two and curiously leaned over, asking Ling Xiaoyou, who seemed easier to talk to.
“We’re going to find those Spirits hidden by the Devils.”
Ling Xiaoyou pushed away the approaching Su Lihua and explained, “I discovered that there are still some Spirits hidden by Devils at this Pier, prepared for transport. So I want to rescue them.”
“Eh? There are still Spirits?”
Su Lihua brightened up and quickly said, “Then let me help you too!”
“Sure.”
Ling Xiaoyou nodded, agreeing casually. She didn’t think Su Lihua could do much anyway. The main force in searching for Spirits was still Bai Shuanglian.
“But, where did you get your information, Ling Xiaoyou?”
Su Lihua closed her eyes and tried to sense, then looked at Ling Xiaoyou in confusion, touching her lower lip with her index finger.
“I can’t sense any Spirit presence anywhere?”
“Don’t worry about information and all that.”
Ling Xiaoyou waved her hand dismissively.
“Anyway, I’m sure there are Spirits hidden at this Pier. The reason you can’t sense them is probably because the Devils used some method.”
Su Lihua nodded and didn’t press further. Instead, she asked, “Then how do we find those hidden Spirits?”
“Of course—”
“I’ve already found them.”
Before Ling Xiaoyou could finish, Bai Shuanglian, who had been resting with her eyes closed, suddenly spoke.
Her words surprised Ling Xiaoyou.
“Eh? You already found them?”
Ling Xiaoyou scratched her head, finding it hard to believe it was so quick.
“Yes, I already found them. They’re concealed in a Secret Compartment beneath the Deity Statue, so that’s why Su Lihua couldn’t sense their presence.”
Bai Shuanglian nodded, took Ling Xiaoyou’s small hand, and walked toward the Cathedral from earlier.
Watching their figures, Su Lihua felt something was off, but she couldn’t put her finger on it.
As the two walked farther away, Su Lihua finally snapped out of it and hurried after them.
She asked, “If that’s the case, how did you find them?”
“Because…”
Bai Shuanglian paused, looking like she wanted to say something but hesitated.
Seeing this, Ling Xiaoyou glanced at Su Lihua.
“Isn’t it simple? In this world, the one who understands a person best is their opponent.”
“Bai Shuanglian is an Exorcist, after all. Her methods for searching Spirits are definitely much stronger than ours!”
Su Lihua suddenly understood and nodded.
“I see.”
As she spoke, she suddenly began to ponder and exclaimed in shock, “Then doesn’t that mean Bai Shuanglian can find us anytime and kill us?!”
“Please leave out the ‘us,’ thank you.”
Ling Xiaoyou looked at Su Lihua speechlessly.
“I think if Bai Shuanglian were to kill a ghost, it would only be a silly person like you.”
“Eh! Don’t say things like that!”
Su Lihua grimaced.
“Arrived.”
Bai Shuanglian released Ling Xiaoyou’s hand and looked at the ruins.
Not long ago, this had been a magnificent Cathedral. But after the battle between the Devils and the three of them, it had turned into ruins—collapsed bricks, broken Deity Statue.
If the Devils were still alive to see this scene, they’d probably want to kill them even more.
Oh, the Devils started the trouble here first, so it’s fine.
“Mm, it’s completely a ruin now.”
Ling Xiaoyou pinched her smooth little chin, gazing thoughtfully at everything.
“But the missing Spirits were hidden in the Secret Compartment, so they should be fine.”
“I think so too.”
Su Lihua nodded, then looked at Bai Shuanglian in curiosity.
“But Bai Shuanglian, how are you going to open that Secret Compartment?”
“Didn’t the Devils set up any Lock or protection?”
“You’re right about that.”
Ling Xiaoyou nodded and glanced at Su Lihua in surprise.
“I didn’t expect you could make such a constructive comment.”
Hearing this, Su Lihua subconsciously put her hands on her hips in pride, then quickly realized and looked at Ling Xiaoyou in annoyance.
“What do you mean by that? Can’t I make constructive comments?”
“You can, you can, but…”
Ling Xiaoyou paused, sighed, and patted Su Lihua’s shoulder, leaving Su Lihua a bit baffled.
Just as she was about to ask what was going on, Ling Xiaoyou looked at her with ‘pity.’
“I think with your situation, every bit of intelligence used is a bit less, so opportunities to say things like that shouldn’t be wasted.”
It took Su Lihua a while to realize Ling Xiaoyou was mocking her!
“Ugh! I’m going to fight you!”
Su Lihua’s cheeks turned visibly red—not from shyness, but from anger.
How could anyone say such infuriating things?
She chased after Ling Xiaoyou, but the latter dodged lightly with a spin, easily avoiding Su Lihua’s attack.
“Hmph, that’s all?”
Ling Xiaoyou glanced at Su Lihua triumphantly.
Su Lihua was furious and chased again.
Bai Shuanglian paid no attention to the bickering pair.
She looked at the broken Deity Statue, pondered for a moment, then reached out with her right hand to gently touch its base.
Her hand seemed to pass through a layer of illusion, reaching into the separated Secret Compartment.
But just as Su Lihua had said, this Secret Compartment was sealed with a Lock.
If they wanted to open it, they needed to find the Key.
Of course, brute force wasn’t impossible, but given the Devils’ methods, breaking it by force might destroy both the Lock and the Secret Compartment—along with the Spirits inside.
“Did you find anything, Bai Shuanglian?”
Naturally, Ling Xiaoyou couldn’t focus all her attention on fooling around with Su Lihua.
She was only trying to ease the tension after their recent battle.
Now, seeing Bai Shuanglian frown in thought, she quickly left Su Lihua’s side and went over to ask.
“Mm, not really anything new. I just confirmed there’s a Lock sealing the Secret Compartment.”
Bai Shuanglian explained, looking at Ling Xiaoyou.
“We need to find the Key to this Lock before we can enter.”
